  1. I got 99% of my stuff from KBDfans, quality and service was great, but shipping to canada was $30 USD and then there was another $30 CAD for import fees. id assume it would be cheaper for a smaller item, but I doubt it would be anything reasonable. However, theyve had quite a few discount codes you can find with honey. I also would guess that shipping and import fees would change with the US, but IDK if they would go up or down (US-China tarrifs could raise them, but US also imports much more products). Maybe someone also from the US can add to that?
  2. Yeah, G205 G2 was the only lube i could get without paying outrageous shipping, lubed all my switches and stabs with it, it is fantastic. Amazon is the best place to get it i find.
  3. Yeah, I saw it on clearance at work, my boss offered me 25% off plus my employee discount... Can't really say no to that. Also that was before I built my own so I jumped on that.
  4. lol. Yeah I basically picked out my first switches based on sound But I'd say I chose well.
  5. used to use the g512 se... pretty good board and not that expensive either
  6. haha yeah I tried it, the vinyl wouldnt flex around the mouse. Didn't work out lol
  7. Finally finished my build! - Full aluminum case - lubed milky gateron black - lubed stabilizers - pbt keycaps I got a lot better at soldering as well. Thanks everyone for answering all my questions!
  8. Hey guys! I just wanted to say thank you, after 2 months of delay, I just ordered the parts for my first build! Thanks for all the advice! Ill post some pics when it's done
  9. quick question, I am ordering my parts tonight but I still need lubricant. I was looking on home depots website and saw dielctric grease. https://www.homedepot.ca/product/gardner-bender-dielectric-grease/1001012223 It is a 3rd of the cost, and it is in the same parking lot I work in. I would not have to convince my parents it's worth it, its already hard but when its 30 bucks plus shipping and I'm spending a bunch of money on building a keyboard. (I'm 17, I don't have a credit card and my debit doesn't work online) Will this work effectively?
  10. yeah! Id say water cooling is the way to go, mine is only a 2060 and the fans get LOUD. Also sorry for the late reply lol. What I really want to do is build a PS5 build with a 3080... But I cant afford a ps5 or a 3080 lol
  11. Hey guys, I know I just posted but I made a few changes to my keyboard build. Just wanted to double check compatibility. Also, which lubricant should I get, and where can I find it in Canada? Amazon does not have the best selection from first party sellers. DIY kit: https://kbdfans.com/products/65-low-profile-soldered-mechanical-keyboard-diy-kit?variant=34223387672715 Keycaps: https://kbdfans.com/products/pg-pbt-flighter-keycaps-set?variant=34138697990283 Switches: https://kbdfans.com/products/gateron-milk-black-switches?variant=29141242544176 Films: https://kbdfans.com/products/deskeys-switch-films?variant=34058538451083 I am more so concerned about switch compatibility with the plate / PCB and where to find lubricant / which one to use. This will be my first build, I plan to order the parts Thursday as that is when the KBD fans black Friday sale begins in my time zone.
  12. Yeah, my bad lol. Ill edit that to make it more clear
  13. Hey yall, this is my first post under hot deals but I saw this as I was looking into my build. There are discount codes for paypal and through their own store. The paypal ones can only be used to save 20 000 dollars collectively across all customers until they expire. they are here: https://kbdfans.com/collections/bfcm they open up at 8:00 am Beijing time November 27. The discount ends December 3, but If you want the PayPal discount (larger, for my build its 50 USD off but the regular discount is only 18 USD) I'd act fast as there is a limited discount available.
  14. I have this mouse pad, used it for over a year, texture is nice, hasnt started to wear out. I think i paid 35 CAD for it
  15. Do yall think this is a good first build? Also I was going to lube the switches, just not sure which one to use. keyboard parts diy kit - 164 CAD https://kbdfans.com/collections/diy-kit/products/65-low-profile-soldered-mechanical-keyboard-diy-kit?variant=34223387672715 Milky Gateron Yellows - 23 CAD https://kbdfans.com/collections/switches/products/gbgateron-switch-milky-switch-housing-1pcs?variant=41027375373 Keycaps - 76 CAD https://kbdfans.com/collections/keycaps/products/dsa-dolch-145keys-keycaps Trying to keep it under 300 cad. I do have access to a soldering iron. For the case I was going to go with the gray option, and I think it goes well with my keycaps, but I dont like the red escape key, do yall know where I could find a good 1u keycap for cheap that fits the aesthetic?
  16. thanks guys, its probably a centimeter below my chin, and the runs I usually do either have powder, or I look for jumps and trails on the sides. (often smaller mountains in BC and ocasionally places like marmmot basin or sun peaks). I think ill keep it, did some more research and it shouldn't make all that big of a difference, especially since I've already been riding an even shorter one for years.
  17. Hey yall, I saw a snowboard on for 150 CAD (regular 250) and I picked up the last one cause I didn't want someone to snag it. The size is 160 and I'm 6"1 190 pounds. It's a bit small, but it's a larger than my current one (152 cm). I'm trying to decide if I should return it or keep it. Do yall have any advice? *also idk if this makes a difference but I'm a guy, and the board I currently ride is my dad's from 30 years ago and is 152 cm Edit: here is the board, I'd say I'm intermediate, and I dont do the terrain park much https://www.sportchek.ca/categories/shop-by-sport/snowboarding/snowboards/product/capix-level-mens-snowboard-2019-20-332918644.html#332918644=332918644_99
  18. I found an rtx 2070 mini from gigabyte, same size as the 2060. https://www.gigabyte.com/ca/Graphics-Card/GV-N2070IX-8GC#kf I currently use the 2060 version in my xbox build. Its a little loud but it gets the job done.
  19. Hey guys, I currently work in retail and my boss has a display unit surface laptop that wont power on. He says if I can fix it he'll give me a good deal on it, and considering last time he said that he gave me a 1TB sshd for 10 CAD I'm thinking it would be pretty good. I've tried holding down the power button and + button to reset, no luck. Do yall have any tips? I'm thinking maybe a battery issue but I'm not sure because it doesn't work with the charger. Have any of you had similar issues or know a potential solution? Thanks:) Edit - it's got a pentium 4415y, 128gb ssd, and 8GB ram. I'm pretty sure it's the newest generation.
  20. Awesome! Thanks for the feedback! I have access to a soldering set for my computer science class and I've got plenty of USB C cables. Again, thanks for the help
  21. Thanks! wow there was a lot wrong with that. I did some more research and I think I like the gateron yellow more than the glorious panda when lubed (call me crazy lol, I think I'm in the minority there). I came up with another parts list, what do you think? keycaps - 49.00 USD https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=4100 case - 49.00 USD https://kbdfans.com/collections/case/products/60-keyboard-wood-case?variant=40492083981 plate - 39.90 USD https://kbdfans.com/collections/plate/products/dz60-cnc-aluminum-plate?variant=2208864534541 pcb - 38.00 USD https://kbdfans.com/collections/60/products/dz60-60-pcb stabilizers - 14.00 USD https://kbdfans.com/collections/keyboard-stabilizer/products/gmk-screw-in-stabilizers?variant=22154915348528 switches - 29.42 CAD https://www.banggood.com/70PCS-Pack-3Pin-Gateron-Linear-Yellow-Switch-Keyboard-Switch-for-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard-p-1426530.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc_ods&utm_content=hades&utm_campaign=hades-sds-nechtest-ele-gaming&ad_id=471983063923&gclid=CjwKCAjwiaX8BRBZEiwAQQxGx8sMDmTWtN55O6cLDzwWAeZEi8jF_HwZT3eEzMGN6A5OWUl0Wn4tlRoCcOsQAvD_BwE&cur_warehouse=CN Lubricant - 19.00 CAD https://www.apexkeyboards.ca/products/krytox205g0?_pos=1&_sid=7b3737d04&_ss=r Hopefully this one turns out a bit better lol Thanks.
  22. Hey guys, I'm planning on building a custom keyboard and was wondering if this was a good list, and if it is all compatible. This is the list: Case - https://kbdfans.com/collections/case/products/customized-gh60-aluminum-case?variant=538568818701 - 45.00 USD PCB - https://kbdfans.com/collections/60/products/kbdfans-kbd6x-hot-swap-pcb - 40.00 USD Switches - https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/glorious-panda-mechanical-switches - 49.98 USD Plate - https://kbdfans.com/collections/plate/products/brass-60-plate - 39.90 USD Stabilizers - https://kbdfans.com/collections/keyboard-stabilizer/products/gateron-lubed-plate-mounted-stabilizers - 9.41 USD Keycaps - https://kbdfans.com/collections/keycaps/products/oem-pbt-side-printed-keycaps - 19.00 USD What do yall think?
