so in my build i have r3900x and 32gb (4x8) of corsair vengeance RBG's at 3200mhz
for about a week after installing and getting everything going, i was hit with weird ass crashes. and with a week of going through multiple dmp files, googling everything i could i traced it back to my memory.
oh great, dead ram stick gonna rma newegg this cause thats always really fun.
swapping sticks
all sticks work.
is it my mobo channels?
try all sorts of different configs
all work
well duh i'm stupid i should have just ran memtest
memtest fails before the 7th test maxes out on failures.
sweet bad mobo.
out of curiosity i go to the r3900x wiki page. and i find this (down below), telling me it can only run 4dimms at 2933 or lower
confused, i just throttle my ram and away we go
fast forward about 6 weeks to today and i watch this sneaky video (all crash free btw)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sa8eqMFIHVE
What i wanna know is
did i go the cheap way and just throttle my ram (not that it really matters i'm not going to tell the difference with 200mhz difference in speed)
am i just nooby?
or is there a way to run it at 3200?
or did both linus and I buy some speedy ram that this chip can't handle?
