Jason 57 reacted to CommanderAlex in The ALL MSI PC!
The case is a joke for $250 USD with that price tag attached...more like a ~$100 case imo with the poor thermals. I mean come on, lets just stick a 200mm fan in the front as intake and the top of the case with two 200mm intake fans, leaving just a single 120mm fan in the rear..
At 4:19 in the video, I was literally LMAO with the case being haunted by Steve.
Jason 57 reacted to EvilTelephone in The ALL MSI PC!
What the actual hell was MSI thinking with that case? There was no way those vents were going to be sufficient with the fans smashed up against the glass.
I have to give respect to Linus for not side-stepping the issue in a sponsored bit though. Nice to see!

More is not needed. Ram can always easily be added later but plenty for now.
No gpu as well I have some recommendations for it. Plenty of people are ditching their current high end 2000 series cards so if you can find one for a good price (lets say a 2070) then that would be amazing. The 1660's are very very expensive for what they give and poor value for money
For rgb go on amazon and get a 5 pack of rgb FAN SPEED CONTROLABLE fans for like 40$ or something.
The monitor you selected is well crap. I doubt it's gonna be better than what you have. Bigger sure better unlikely. What laptop do you even have right now? A good startingpoint would be a eizo EV2450. Crazy accurate colour accurate monitor for the price but it seems it costs double in canada unfortunatly compared to a normal priced one.
The psu is also just there to allow you to get any gpu under the sun.
Cpu wise the 3600 is there if you buy it now if not then same board but b550 + 5600.

Thanks so much for helping me out with this.
I think the biggest reason why I chose that monitor is because literally anything would be better than my laptop screen, and I thought it would be a good starting point and possibly a good second monitor down the line. And it's on sale on Newegg right now and its the one thing I could order this weekend to get me started. I will look to see what else is on sale though.
Side note, I did choose a lot of what I did because I'm looking for a white base colour theme, and want to incorporate expressive RGB elements. Its a bit shallow, but I figure I've been waiting a long time for this so I might as well treat myself in a completely arbitrary way. Are there any suggestions for compiling a better build with these elements in mind?

The case cannot accommodate a 360 aio.
Given the usage, getting a 2x16GB memory kit would allow for a no replacement upgrade should it ever be necessary.
The motherboard is mATX which will look small inside an ATX case.
New cpu should be available by the end of November. I'd suggest waiting for the independent reviews. Then consider something more like the following.

Jason 57 reacted to WaggishOhio383 in Black or White Case?
While I like the look of the white version of that case better, I worry it wouldn't provide enough contrast with the all-white desk, and the PC would kind of blend in. Then again I have a black desk with a black PC case and it doesn't look too bad.
Jason 57 got a reaction from TVwazhere in Lancool II Mesh side intakes
If you look at this thread.
The CPU torture test that GN did on the case lists the temperatures you could see.
May I ask, why so many Noctua fans? I realize they are very quiet, and I am sure they move much more air (CFM rating).
And you can do what you want with it.
Personally, I wouldn't mount a fan in the bottom back, all it is doing is blowing air onto your GPU. (unless your GPU AIO doesn't water cool the GPU's memory??)
Just remember, adding more fans doesn't always improve temperature.
Also, this case does have the preinstalled fans hooked up to a fan hub (which can have 6 in total hooked up to it.)
I hope it goes well for you.
Jason 57 reacted to TVwazhere in Lian Li Lancool II - mesh or no mesh?
What do you plan on doing with the system? Gaming, or workstation productivity? Do you plan on overclocking anything? How much do you care about thermals?
The original Lancool 2 is fine. Middle of the road nothing crazy special thermals. The Lancool 2 Mesh gets a lot of praise because it's a near chart topper in many categories for keeping everything cool. You can see the A/B between the two (and the Lancool One I guess) below which used an OC'd 6700K and an MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X.
Jason 57 reacted to jaslion in Lian Li Lancool II - mesh or no mesh?
Can you wait for the new cards that are launching in a couple weeks? With those specs a no mesh lancool could pose a problem especially with using the stock cooler on the ryzen. Also small tip don't spend money on a 3800x it's a lot extra for barely any better performance over a 3700. The money you save can go towards a cooler for the 3700.
Jason 57 reacted to Kisai in Who Even Chairs - Razer Announces Gaming Chair
Look, every single one of these "gaming" chairs looks the same. They are cheaply made, mostly made of plastic. Chairs, should only be cloth or leather. Any other kind of "leather" is not leather, it's PU (Polyurethane.) They can't be repaired. Three year warranty.
Meanwhile Ikea offers 10 year warranties on chairs that are 1/4 to 1/2 the price. https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/cat/gaming-chairs-47067/ and at least one is actually leather.
Jason 57 reacted to airborne spoon in YouTube being more aggressive on ads?
Yes i am getting a lot more ads over the last month or so. 90% of them political and all of them for the democrat party, (I'm a republican and voted by fax the day i got my ballot). Usually when i watch a LTT or Jayz video there would be one ad at the beginning or none at all just the little banner one that PiHole blocks. But now i'm getting about 5-7x 10 second unskippable ads during a 8-20 min videos. it's really pissing me off
Jason 57 reacted to BlueChinchillaEatingDorito in How should I position my case fans?
Well you're a stubborn one aren't you.
Unless you get a fan that can push more air through as your intake, not much else you can do because it's all about channeling air to the components that need it the most. That's the problem with modern cases with side panels that don't have fan mounts. You no longer have the ability to blow fresh air directly onto your GPU which is often the biggest source of heat.
Jason 57 reacted to LogicalDrm in How can I get better air flow in my case
I fear the answer, but what motherboard you have? Case, and mobo, look like OEM parts. That will be problematic for upgrades. With fans, it can mean that only certain types of fans are accepted by mobo.
You can go to BIOS and see what kind of options you have available.
As for air flow, the CPU cooler is blowing towards mobo. So if CPU cooling is something you want to improve, best option would be to mount fan to mesh above CPU intaking. Rear should be exhaust since CPU cooler is blowing hot air all around it.
