  1. @mussifer@xHyPnOtiZeDx What profile are you guys using in ASUS Armoury Crate? On the turbo profile it overclocks your GPU core by 100Mhz and the GPU memory by 150Mhz. Maybe try using the Performance profile as it doesn't overclock anything.
  2. If you want give @Mamba#2901 in the Ryzen Discord the thanks, he is the one that provided this for us.
  3. I hear ya, I'm just happy someone got this BIOS and was able to share it with us. Nothing like a company fixing a major issue with a product and then not getting the fix out there in circulation.
  4. Glad its working for you! Here is the link to the Ryzen Controller Discord https://discord.gg/bUR7ZY
  5. @mussifer Another user in the Ryzen Controller Discord has used it along with the guy who provided it for us. The BIOS change log is in the little picture on my post with the BIOS link. With this BIOS I can actually overclock my GPU core by 200Mhz and GPU memory by 300Mhz and no need for Ryzen Controller anymore for me. Getting the best benchmark results I've ever had too in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Geekbench and Cinebench R15.
  6. It was released December 23 2019 so good luck with your waiting. ASUS has already messed up so bad with this laptop model and now they can't even push a BIOS update properly through Windows update. Even the last 208 BIOS that ASUS released was installed by Windows Update and is still in my Windows folder. You don't wanna trust me no sweat off my back. Old 208 BIOS update from Windows Update in my Windows folder
  7. I have a new bios acquired from someone that got it through their Windows 10 update last month. Luck enough the file was still stored in his Windows directory and he shared it with us. It has yet to appear on the ASUS website or anywhere else that I could find. Haven't tested it much yet but no drops running in Turbo mode and even with the GPU slightly overclocked in MSI Afterburner. 8. Yes those are the settings I have changed. Are you running using Ryzen Controller sudo, as it needs root privileges?
  9. I run Arch Linux as my main OS and yeah its even worse as the CPU gets stuck at 400Mhz and requires a reboot. Ryzen Controller is available Linux and works fine to stop my throttling there also.
  10. Hello again! All I can say is WOW your throttling is so much worse then mine ever was playing anything. Made up this video to show you the game running properly, and well I think some people are probably thinking that I'm talking out my arse lol. Stop by the discord and we will do all that we can to get you running smoothly. Cheers!
  11. Have you uninstalled Ryzen Controller, deleted the appdata folders and then applied just the few settings I mentioned? If you are stuck at 3.2Ghz it sounds like something else. Have you changed the maximum power state in power options below 100%? The ASUS armoury crate also needs to be set to Turbo. I captured a video of Shadow of the Tomb Raider benchmark running twice back to back. Its hitting 94C and still no throttling.
  12. Yeah with just those set and temp at 90 it works great over here. I've been poking around in the BIOS rom file and have extracted the DSDT tables which hold all the settings that you can change in Ryzen Controller and I've found most of the stuff I need to edit. I should then be able to inject the module back into the BIOS file, flash the file and we won't have to use Ryzen Controller anymore!
  13. It appears the unit is definitely throttling due to BD Prochot, just confirmed this in HWINFO when running without Ryzen Controller. You can see in the picture that the BD Prochot has triggered and MSI afterburner shows the CPU throttling to 400Mhz. It isn't from the CPU though, as HWINFO says its from EXT which would be another device. I'm going to try just using Ryzen controller with just the VRM setting turned up and if it works then the problem with our unit is thermal throttling due to VRM's overheating. Not seeing any sensor for VRM's so I can't see what temps they are at. Update Just using the STAPM and PPT limits works fine, there's a slight performance increase but can't find any way to measure VRM temps so if you change them do so at your own risk. Ryzen Controller seems to still use settings you have altered even after unchecking them and hitting apply. So if you have used previous settings you need to uninstall Ryzen Controller through add/remove programs and then delete the following folders which will remove all stored settings. You will need to goto C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\ryzencontroller C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\RyzenController
  14. See my updated post below before trying this. I've managed to find the sweet spot in Ryzen Controller to keep the laptop running the way its intended to. I was able to keep Shadow of the Tomb Raider running at 3.9Ghz with the CPU at 100% usage and got the highest numbers yet from the benchmark in it. This is easily fixable by ASUS changing the DSDT which is part of the ACPI ( power management). These variables are left by AMD to be set by the vendor of the laptop as depending on the cooling solution they need to be likely tweaked. I've seen some users modify these settings using the clover EFI bootloader but it seems it doesn't work for our unit or ASUS laptops. I'm going to do some more digging and see if I can find a way to patch this in our BIOS so we have an over all solution. For now if anyone wants to try these settings give them a whirl and leave feedback here, that way if I find a way to make a patch then I can make sure its something that works for everyone. Also if anyone knows how to get the current variables from the BIOS using AMD uProf please let me know, curious to know what they are currently set at. At this moment I'm leery at leaving the VRM setting at 75, don't want to blow the VRM's. You can achieve almost same clock speed with VRM at 65 and your unit will run cooler also. Also set Ryzen Controller to re-apply the settings every 10 seconds and it will needed to be loaded up every time you boot, which can be done in the settings tab.

Hey, have you had any luck fixing the frame dro…

Still using Ryzen controller, see my post here for what to do. Works fine without any drops.
  16. I opened a support ticket with ASUS and got nothing but generic basic help trying to get me to try stupid fixes that we already know doesn't work.
  17. @steeds Tried with version 14xxx something and 1803, both still throttle when running heavy tasks. Looks like Ryzen Controller is the way to go at the moment.
  18. Was doing some more digging into exactly what is going on with the laptop down clocking and I'm going on a limb here but think it maybe Windows 10 that is causing this issue. I am going to dig out one of my old Windows 10 ISO's and see if it works. In a review on the bestbuy website a reviewer said that his unit worked fine until Windows upgraded. He then restored to factory and it worked fine till Windows upgraded again. See following link for details https://www.notebookcheck.net/Microsoft-finally-fixes-the-NVIDIA-dGPU-and-BD-PROCHOT-related-CPU-throttling-issues-that-have-been-affecting-some-Surface-Book-2-devices-for-months.438985.0.html When gaming I noticed that once the GPU reaches a certain temp it throttles the CPU. This is what BD PROCHOT does, it is a feature that allows certain components such as GPU,VRM, etc to down clock CPU if they get too hot. This would explain why many devices among lots of vendors are experiencing this issue. I will update thread with results of the older version of Windows 10 when I'm finished testing.
  19. Just using the max temp. It seems the culprit is the settings in the BIOS are too aggressive for temps and when to downclock the CPU slightly. Without Ryzen Controller the CPU boosts to 4.0Ghz when playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider and seems to sit around 3900-4000 and just keeps going and raising the temps till it throttles to 400mhz instead of just slightly down clocking the CPU to a lower speed. I've also got the Occulus RIft working fine now on the laptop using a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter. It was a complete mess before with the drops, kinda sucks that it only works with the Geforce drivers provided by ASUS.
  20. Think I may have 100% solution now that I have had time to mess around with my unit for a week. Its actually really simple too but will likely void your warranty so be warned now. ASUS has put this black plastic film over the intakes for the coolers, likely for dust prevention but it seems to block air flow. Just take the bottom cover off and where the vents on the bottom cover you will see metal brackets with this black plastic covering the vents to the outside of the unit. Just take a sharp object and carefully trim it off around the fan shapes inside the metal bracket. Assemble the unit back together, install Ryzen Controller, change the max temp in it to 67C, hit apply and make sure ASUS armory crate is set to Turbo. You can also play around with the max temp, increasing it will give you higher clock rates but increases the heat and chances of throttling so tweak away until you get the results your looking for. I am now able to run Shadow of Tomb Raider at highest settings and absolutely no drops at all. CPU temp stay within limits and the GPU now hits a max of 71C. CPU freq is still boosting to max too at times, but because the game is heavily threaded it usually sits anywhere between 3400-3800 while playing. Playing the Nintendo Switch Yuzu emulator which is mostly single threaded the boost clock stays at 4000Mhz. With the fans being able to get decent air flow the machines thermals sit in that sweet spot where it seems not to throttle, no drops yet after many hours of Tomb Raider, Fortnite and other taxing games. I had pretty decent results using just Ryzen Controller and setting max temp to 67C but still had a few drops here and there so you maybe able to get away without having to remove the plastic from the vents. I can't guarantee anything on your guys units as they could be a almost a year old now or perhaps even new but have a worse paste job then mine from the factory. Good luck and hope it work for you guys, pretty happy with the laptop now that it runs like a beast!
  21. Just looking around the web at reviews and theres tonnes of people with the issue of throttling to 400Mhz. I see @Squilliam has been tearing ASUS a new butt hole and I'm loving it. ASUS has been silent on this for months it looks like and it seems nothing has been done. My unit is playable now with Ryzen Controller but we shouldnt have to rely on third party software just to make our units run and not even at its max potential. I've supported ASUS for over two decades but this is the straw that broke the camels back. With so many of us with this issue I think our best bet is to start a class action lawsuit again ASUS, does this sound like something you guys would be interested in?
  22. Update, in my messing around to get this working I had downgraded the BIOS to version 205. I've since upgraded back to 207 and now even with the Ryzen Controller running it still has the drops. Needless to say if you want this to work you will need to downgrade your BIOS to 205. With that said its likely ASUS or AMD changed something in the BIOS and probably why none of the reviewers had any problems because they were running a much older BIOS.
  23. I looked at every review I could before buying and not one mention of it anywhere. It seems its not just Asus but other vendors also using the same CPU. It seems to be a problem in Linux too so cant be from a Windows update. This fix I posted makes my unit run as intended, getting really good performance that matches the review benchmarks, so happy I don't have to return the laptop.
  24. After many more hours of frustration I have managed to find settings that enable me to keep base clock of 2.3Ghz or above with no drops so far to 400Mhz while running Shadow of the Tomb Raider which was giving me the most issues as it really pushed the system to it max. Make sure to use the Turbo Profile and that maximum processor state is set to 100% or else it will put you down to 1700Mhz. @mussifer If you could test this in PUBG and let me know how it works for you that would be much appreciated.
