  1. Okay so I have no idea in which direction I’m meant to be pulling to loosen the screw bit and I’m also not sure how to actually mount my sm7b, could anyone help me? Thx
  2. As the title says, I’m looking for a 24" 1080p monitor to use to watch content at 1080p (twitch and YouTube) and will also be looking at text (browsers and discord). Are there any monitors I should be looking into or should I just grab whatever is there? Budget is around £150-200
  3. No, the touchscreen thing is disabled if the mic is plugged in through xlr. It seems that having 53dB+ of gain with make-up gain in the compressor are the normal settings for a dynamic mic and is just a settings issue, apparently I don't have the gain settings correctly set. However, with Discord being the main problem, I will now contact discord support to see if there's anything I can do there. I will also try to reinstall the drivers
  4. How do I test the goxlr mini? Everything seems to be fine with it, i've had no issues so I'm not sure how I would test it. EDIT: I don't think it is the goxlr mini anyway because the USB connection had the same issue. I'm not sure if all MV7's are simply like that.
  5. The microphone is right on my mouth, I try to be as close as I can. I have tried the auto settings and that didn’t really change anything.
  6. As the title says, the mic is super quiet. It seems to be “okay”, and I mean okay as in it still needs 45+dB of gain which introduces a lot of background noise. It currently needs 53dB of gain so that I’m heard decently loud in obs and recordings. However, this issue becomes much worse in Discord, where my friends need to set my volume to 200% to only hear me as if I was whispering. I have removed all sound options like echo and noise cancellation as well as automatic gain control, disabled attenuation and even reset all voice settings and still have the same issue. Volume in windows is set to 100 for the mic and in Discord it is set to 200%. USB connection had the same issue, no matter what settings I had in the app. I even sent the microphone to Shure to get it checked and they did not find any issues with it and hence can’t get a replacement. Is there anything I can do? Or should I just try to sell it and go for another variant like the mv7x, or a completely different xlr mic? EDIT: I can pull up the gain more as it seems that it is normal for MV7 mics, I saw youtubers having a gain of 50-60dB. However, it is REALLY an issue with Discord and don't know how to fix it. I'll try to contact Discord support meanwhile
  7. Budget (including currency): £1500 maximum, but would much preferably stay at £1300. The currency is GBP. Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Light games such as Rocket League all the way up to demanding games such as Need For Speed and Call of Duty. The main goal is to be able to game at 1440p144hz and have mid-high graphics and being able to stream at the same time. Other details: As I mentioned before, I would like to game at 1440p144hz at high graphics while streaming. I would also need a keyboard and a monitor as I currently don't own them. I don't mind the case but it would be nice to be able to see RGB in it (rgb fans basically). I was thinking of getting an i5-10600k and pair it with a 3060/3070, but you can change these as long as it stays within the budget. If there's some stuff that needs to be cut out because of the budget, the rgb can be taken out. I do not need SSD's as I already have them. I'd only need a 1tb or 2tb hdd. I would also like a decent power supply and not those dodgy cheap ones. Finally, I do not want to risk the chance of thermal throttling so a good cooling solution or a case with good airflow would be great. The £1300-1500 budget only applies to the pc itself, both the monitor and keyboard are excluded from this budget.
  8. yea its just that the kryonaut won't be able to keep up on some games, like r6s or ghost recon wildlands where my cpu goes up to 96 degrees, but at least it isn't thermal throttling significantly
  9. The heatsink is solid nice and flat, made of copper. However, I work with my laptop on almost a 90 degree angle (can't close the laptop and hence I can't work with it completely upside down) and was wondering if this would be an issue, like the LM literally just going downwards instead of staying there so not sure if I might go with LM. I'll try the thermal pastes you have mentioned, because the kryonaut seems to not be able to keep up, even though apparently it is one of the best thermal pastes out there.
  10. They are completely clean, I have taken them apart, removed them and cleaned them inside out so not sure what's going on.
  11. How do I check what the bottleneck is? My fans at max can’t keep up
  12. I am currently using Kryonaut as a thermal paste but my laptop still goes to 80-96 degrees (except rocket league, it stays at 50 degrees there). My gpu temps are fine, the issue is my cpu (i5-8300H). Laptop model is Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52. Someone told me that liquid metal would bring down my temperatures a lot more compared to normal thermal paste, and I just wanted to make sure if that was true by asking here. If so, which one should I get?
  13. >What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using. I will be playing several types of games, such as Cyberpunk 2077, Apex Legends, Valorant, CS:GO, DBFZ, Rainbow 6 Siege, Phasmophobia, Ghostrunner, Rocket League, GTA V, etc. I will also be doing video editing (nothing special, really light editing) and work using word/powerpoint. I will also be streaming at 720p@60fps or recording at 1080@60fps but will not do both at the same time. I would like to play all of these games on medium to high graphics (except cs and r6, those are set to low). >What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes? £1000, although I do not mind the PC going a bit overbudget, I would like to know all options available to me. (maximum budget would be 1.5k but this would definitely have to be financed, spreading the cost.) >When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy. Between now and February 2021 >What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc\) I would like to have a monitor (1080p 144hz is preferred) and a rgb keyboard. However, if the 144hz monitor is too much, a 60hz monitor will do just fine. >**Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?** United Kingdom, London. >If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated. I will be re-using my Corsair sabre rgb mouse, my sata 500gb ssd (a samsung 850 i think) and my 2tb nvme m.2 ssd from sabrent. I have seen that there are laptop to pc ram adapters but that sounds wack so I doubt I will re-use my laptop ram (16gb, ddr4). >Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU? I am interested in overclocking my CPU later on but I really won't need it if it does the job with its default speeds. >Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc) I just need a cpu and a gpu capable of handling me streaming at 720p@60fps while gaming at 144hz, medium to high graphics. >Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components? Obviously, RGB is always welcome. I don't want to spend too much on rgb and I definitely do not want to sacrifice my budget just to get rgb over performance. However, some sort of rgb is preferred. >Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference? No, I am planning to buy the key on a third-party site. >Extra info or particulars: I have 2.5tb of ssd storage so I won't be needing a large HDD (1tb-2tb is enough). As for the 144hz monitor, this is something that I would like to have within the budget. I also plan on getting a second 1080p60hz monitor later on, and have a dual-monitor setup. If I have missed anything please let me know in the comments and I will reply as soon as possible. Financing options are a huge plus, I can’t afford everything at once. I used a template from reddit, hope its fine.
  14. Sent it for repairs 3 times in the first year and now warranty is over.
  15. A £700 laptop (Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52) that has a poor design, always overheats even if you have a cooling pad and fans at maximum (they are so loud you can hear them all the way from my bedroom to the living room) and thermal throttles, shit thermal paste and has given me trouble for the past 2 years. Corrupted BIOS, corrupted Windows 10, a damaged hard drive, several BSOD's (probably like 70 in total over the past 2 years), unexpected freezes and crashes, loud fans and now, broken hinges of course. I can barely close the laptop and I can't repair it myself because I would have to disassemble it completely. Tried getting a quote for the repair + parts and it will cost over £100 which I won't be able to get anytime soon due to personal issues. Great! The point is, do not buy gaming laptops from Acer. And if you really want to go with acer, do not buy the AN515-52.
  16. I keep getting told that I need isopropyl alcohol but that is too expensive and I can't buy it. Can I use any alcohol? I have a normal alcohol made for skin cleaning and disinfecting.
  17. Thank you so much for taking the time to write all that, I now feel confident, really appreciate it.
  18. Got it, I'm thinking of opening the laptop completely every six months.
  19. What is a CPU die? All i've seen is people spreading it with their finger or simply putting a pea size amount in the middle of the cpu and then putting in the heat sink, letting it do the spreading job.

Is the Arctic MX-4 also good or better? Heard that it's pretty good https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07T6CPH81/ref=sspa_dk_hqp_detail_aax_0?psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzVzBLU1FETVRKQ1lMJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzQwNTY4M0hOU0dJQlVENllQRyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwODU2OTAzMjIzS0NMODAxSjhWMCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2hxcF9zaGFyZWQmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl And it would arrive much faster
  21. Model is Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52. Thinking of using the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01A9KIGSI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1) but I have never done this before. How should I spread it? It's an i5-8300H and a 1050 4gb. I've seen many websites always recommending a different method and I don't know which method I should go for. And also, is normal alcohol fine for removing the old paste? By normal alcohol I mean the alcohol used to disinfect skin wounds.
