  1. I've had this router for a long time and used it in the past but it's recently been sitting on a shelf for a couple years. I finally have a use for it and it's working flawlessly. However, I can't for the life of me access the web interface for it. I know I have in the past by simply typing in the default IP, 192.168.1.254, but it's not working this time. I've tried accessing it with 2 laptops, one with a dedicated ethernet port, the other with a USB C adapter, and both can't find the page. Any ideas? I need to access the configuration because some settings might conflict with my router's. Thanks!
  2. My friend has a laptop that's his only system and is quite slow, but he needs it for his work. It originally came with a 250gb 5400 rpm drive and it's the main bottleneck in the system. He needs much more space as he's currently juggling 2 external 250gb drives and a few flash drives to store his project files. So which ones of these drives would be the best bet? WD Black 1tb HGST Travelstar 1tb They come in around the same price and WD even owns HGST, but despite the WD drive being marketed as faster according to passmark the HGST drive is faster. I've also seen in one discussion that the WD is dual platter whereas the HGST is single which makes it faster and more reliable, is this true? Keep in mind the budget for this upgrade is only ~$60. Thanks for any input!
  3. Currently using an hd 6770, one gig of ram is really good for nothing these days. Anything would be better.
  4. I think this projector technology is awesome compared to the classic ceiling mounted ones because it eliminates all the mounting and cable routing.
  5. So my friend has a fairly old PC with a 500gb mechanical drive that filled up, so I got him another 500gb one that also filled up. With a recent update to Windows 10 with the update tool, not doing a clean install, has caused some issues, so I want to do a clean install. However, my original intention with the extra 500gb drive was to put it with the existing one in a raid 0 configuration, but we never got around to it, but now we can do it! So instead of painstakingly formatting each drive, will putting the drives in RAID 0 auto reformat them for me? Sorry for the dumb question, but I have no experience with raid.
  6. Maybe try a hard restart: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/power-cycle-console This tends to fix 99% of problems with any Xbox One.
  7. An iPad Mini 2 for my mother, she absolutely loves checking her promotional emails, browsing store websites, and checking the news/weather. However, she has trouble doing these tasks on her tiny phone, and the large monitor of our home computer. She also has a hard time when a site layout changes (notably yahoo, sadly she still uses it), so having dedicated mail and site apps will elevate this. She can also connect her iMessage and Facetime to text and call people easier, things she also really enjoys.
  8. I have this built that is a general mish-mash of some of the better parts I had from older systems lying around and am look to sell it on ebay or Craigslist. Here are the specs and what's included in the bundle I'm looking to sell: So with that said, what do you guys thing I can get for this build? Any and all appraisals would be greatly appreciated!
  9. I'm really considering getting an ultra-wide monitor in the coming months and I've decided to go with LG, because they seem to be setting the standard for ultra-wide monitors everywhere (this model specifically because its the cheapest). Only problem is that I'mO a massive peasant and play most my games on the Xbox One on the same monitor as my PC. So if I try to use my Xbox One on an ultra-wide monitor, I'd get some massive letterboxing on each side of of the 1080p image. So I'm wondering if LG monitors support such a feature where I can have a 1920x1080 image from the Xbox on one side, and have my PC use the rest of the screen with a 640x1080 image on the other side. I can't find an answer to this question anywhere online, even LG's site, I even emailed their support and no response after a week. If anyone can confirm, or unconfirmed, this as possible I would greatly appreciate it!
  10. I completely forgot about SSHDs?!?!? This is the perfect solution, thank you for responding, and having convenient links!
  11. I'm looking for a replacement 2.5 in HDD and I'm torn between this WD drive and this Hitachi drive. I know the WD drive is only 750gbs, but size doesn't really matter in this case, I just need it to be faster and bigger than the old, slow, 250gb Samsung drive in my device now. So my question is basically which one do you think will be faster? I know that WD's Black series is known for having some of the best performing drives, and I've used WD for years and have never had an issue. But this hitachi drive, on the other hand, looks too good to pass up. Its obviously 250gb bigger and has double the cache (correct me if I'm wrong, but that increased read speeds, right?). According to passmark's HDD benchmarks the hitachi drive also scores ~50 points higher than the WD drive, but I don't know how passmark formulates the scores. Which one would you choose? Thanks for any help or suggestions!
  12. \My PC that I use hours upon hours a day has been getting loud in the past 6 months, I assume the fans are the cheap sleeve bearing ones and are wearing out. So what I want to do is get a 2 pack of 120mm Corsair silent series static pressure fans and put one in the only fan mount my case has to replace the cheapo fan, and one to replace the standard fan inside my Corsair CX430. Now is this possible? I can't find a comprehensive teardown of this specific unit online, so is a replacement possible? And I've heard people have issues when replacing PSU fans because the new one they put in is an incorrect voltage, but I'm replacing a (presumably) corsair fan with a new corsair fan, so shouldn't this work fine? Once I do that I want to get a nice silent cooler to replace my stock intel one. I'm running an i5 2500k (socket 1155), but its not, and can't be, overclocked. I just want a cheap, silent cooler, that comes with a decent fan. If anyone has any suggestions/advice I would greatly appreciate it!
  13. Long story short, just got a 6 plus for free (yay), its heavily damaged and the screen is scratched to hell (not yay) and I'm out of luck for cheap solutions to "fix" the screen myself, so a screen protector it is. I've been told that some screen protects use a special adhesive that "fills in" scratches to make them "disappear", so I would like that feature for sure (if its real), and I just want to protect the screen form any more damage in the future anyway. After browsing Amazon and "top 5/10 best screen protector for your iphone - CLICK NOW" articles, all were showing a variety of brands and models (I didn't even know protector came in different models?!) and I have no idea which is the best one for me? I'm strongly considering Phantom Glass as it's a highly reputable brand (I'm looking at you Linus, and the ~$35 price tag has to mean there's some quality behind that thing), but is there anything bad about them, or any competition that's too good to pass up? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
