Here is a link to more detail regarding the MLC and TLC flash topic: http://www.speedguide.net/faq/slc-mlc-or-tlc-nand-for-solid-state-drives-406 Regarding Samsung drives, I currently have a 850 Evo, and it is by far the best SSD I have owned. I have absolutely no issues with the drive and it still performs excellent after long use -
Awesome! I am, using the same type of backup process. Are you looking at a 2.5" (one with only a USB connector, small and slim) or a 3.5" (with a USB connector and external power plug, usually quite bulky) The 3.5" ones are usually less expensive than the 2.5" versions.

Lots of the PSU calculators are just estimates (I'm not saying they are bad at all), I personally would rather look at real world measured values to get a more accurate estimate You can check out this article on the 980Ti by Techspot to get an idea on how much power different systems actually draw: http://www.techspot.com/review/1011-nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-ti/page9.html You can also check out Luke's video on PSU's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKnfmeuOmXc

I would also definitely recommend Western Digital drives, have been using them for years without a single issue

I currently have the 850 Evo and it is by far the best SSD I have owned, I would definitely recommend the 850 Evo The 5-year warranty is also a great perk
-
I would usually prefer a single card since SLI configs usually have some driver issues in certain games (eg Advanced Warfare), and it also draws a bit more power. For 4k the extra VRAM of the 980Ti would be great since you only have a single 4GB VRAM available in SLI SLI is still a great option if you only have enough for a single 970 and want to get another 970 later on.

Awesome thanks guys! Yes I am definitely into overclocking, so I think I will go with the 780 then. Going to be a huge step-up from my current 5870 haha
-
Hi guys, So I want to buy myself a GTX 970, but today there is a huge sale on the EVGA GTX 780 Dual Classified (with ACX cooler). It is about 15% cheaper than the 970 from MSI that I want to buy. I am aware that the 970 has a lot of advantages over the standard 780 (power consumption, more VRAM, newer architecture, etc.), and that the 970 outperforms the reference 780. But how would the said 780 from EVGA compare to the 970? From what I have heard it is a beast at overclocking, and I intend to do that. 780 Classified link It would save me a lot of money to go for the 780, and I don't want to spend about $80 extra just for 10 fps increase. What do you guys think?

I can definitely vouch for the 850 Evo. I have had the 250GB one for a while now, the performance is outstanding and still performs as good as on the day I got it
-
Wow haha GLHF with that, I have done the same earlier this year and it was such a tedious process  It's definitely worth it though
-
Yes I would definitely get a single card over a SLI config, it's sooo much better when you consider all the other factors as you have mentioned. But I if you have a lower budget and cannot afford the single top-tier card right now, upgrading to a SLI config sometime in the future would be an good option. That being said, if you have the money definitely go for the single card setup

I have the same experience with my WD drive, I can actually hear my drive starting up when I access it for the first time. My HDD is perfectly fine, it just powers down when it goes unused for a while (since it's one of my secondary drives) Wouldn't hurt to check the drive's health as @Captain_WD suggested
-
Yea the 970 SLI scales really well at 1080p, it has performance equal or greater the Titan X at 1080p as well as 4k so gaming at 144Hz 1080p would be no problem. SLI config is cool and all but the driver issues and stability can be so frustrating sometimes
