Opterons are very server orientated and have more cores with lower clocks. This is a downside in a gaming environment because games prefer less faster cores.

I did have a multiport top on hand, and using that as an inlet fixed some of the strange noises my pump was making. Now I have to wait for an aqua pipe to prevent the falling water. I'm also going to try filling the loop through one of the vacant ports on the radiator.

There is 0 use for LN2/DICE cooling unless you're sponsored by ASUS/Gigabyte during an event going for OC records. They already bin all the CPUs so you may go through 6 or more CPUs before you get one that can  actually get past 5.0Ghz and even then 5Ghz is achievable by watercooling.

I agree with the fact that the reference 290 and 290x suck, but my powercolor 290 pcs+ is running heaven right now, is completely silent and temps are <75 with my custom fan curve. At the stock it isn't silent but runs full load at 63c, and it all cost 100 euros less than a 780.

Depending on your price range I would recommend the cryorig r1 universal, which performs very well and it has unlimited ram clearance even though it is a dual tower heat sink. I much less pricy option would be the upcoming cryorig h5.

If you need future upgrades try the fm2+ socket. You can get the amd athlon 860k which will be releasing relatively soon with a gigabyte a88x g1.sniper for less money. I've heard rumors that fm2+ will be used until 2016.

It's been a while since this thread was last updated, however you'll be glad to know (Asus shipping issues aside) the 350D mod is complete.

Upgraded from the gtx 680 to a 780ti during the build, so won't be making full use of the extra slots quite yet, but this case will last me for any future upgrades.

Installing the 240mm radiator up top proved a major challenge due to the already limited space. There is less than a millimeter between the 8pin plugs and the fans.
Fortunately there is 2mm clearance between the bottom of the fans and the blades.

Custom length cables and sleeving was also undertaken as it was the only way to keep the bulk behind the rear panel to a minimum due to the position of the PSU. Not to mention the black and grey helped finish it all off.

And finally some images of the build.

Right now I have a very basic understanding of NAS software and hardware, so if anyone could link me to a good article explaining about how it works, file systems, RAID, and NAS hardware that would be awesome.
