  1. Dang that is a great idea. I may go that route mariushm. There is a 660p on sale right now too. Thank you everyone for your input! Guess I will start trying to offload some of these drives.
  2. What would be the best way to fit these drives in the server?
  3. I recently purchased this server: https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/povw/poweredge-t40 And this SSD: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PGC3JKQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 By random stroke of luck, Amazon sent me the entire SKU package for the SSDs and then told me to keep it at no additional charge. So now I have 10 480gb SSDs... Is there any practical method of putting more than 3 in this server? There are only 4 SATA ports on the mobo, and 4 SATA power cables. 1 for the DVD drive, 3 left over (which I have populated with 3 of these SSDs). There are 3 3.5 inch bays, and I have seen trays that let you fit 2 2.5 inch drives into the same space. Is it possible to get 6 of these drives in the space, split the SATA power cables with adapters, and get a PCIe SATA controller? Is that even worth it? What do you recommend? I am looking to get more storage on this server which is currently used for Minecraft, Terraria, random game server hosting. I do not need a ton of storage, maybe between 1.5-3tb would be plenty for my backups. Thanks!
  4. Thanks! I picked up that Crucial stick.
  5. I recently purchased a Dell PowerEdge T40 to attempt to set up some file storage, run a few game servers (Minecraft, Terraria, etc). It has a Xeon E-2224G, 8GB RAM, 480gb SSD (planning on adding more but want to get more RAM first). I want to upgrade the RAM. Here is a link to the server: https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/povw/poweredge-t40 The RAM DIMM in the machine is a single Samsung 8gb 1Rx8 PC4 2666V ED2 11. The mobo is dual channel, 4 slots. I purchased this DIMM https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DFDKKR2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It does not work. It will not boot in dual channel, and will not boot if this is the only stick installed. System boots without issue with the original Samsung stick. Did I buy the wrong kind? Maybe this seller isnt reputable and the stick is faulty? Should I return the RAM and buy the same one from Newegg? Please help! Thanks!
  6. A video from JayzTwoCents had me thinking about dual vs single channel RAM. I am properly using dual channel on this mobo, but wasnt sure if filling those additional two slots would allow the cpu better access to the memory? I dont think the board is quad-channel though. I just hadn't seen much about using 4 vs 2 sticks in dual channel for performance reasons. Thanks for your input though! I think I will play around with XMP more.
  7. I recently built this computer: Gigabye GeForce R TX 2080 Gaming OC EVGA SuperNova 850G+ Intel Core i9-9900K G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 32gb (2 x 16gb, DDR4 3000mhz, 16-18-18-38) MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC Would I see decent performance gains from enabling XMP and perhaps buying another RAM kit? I was contemplating this kit below to fill out all four slots on the motherboard (I do realize this would go way overboard for RAM, I don't really even need 32gb, heh; just looking for performance at this point). Same timings as my current 32gb kit. Wasnt sure if this was worth it? And someone in the comments on Newegg mentioned that it was incompatible with their other RAM... thoughts? https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232498
