  1. X570 Taichi Yeah I figured it was the only non-janky solution
  2. Hi, My current build is a Workstation/GameStation hybrid, 5900x, 4090FE + Quadro P2000 for additional display outputs, 64Gigs RAM. I also use a 2.5G ethernet to PCIe adaptor, a WD_BLACK AN1500 1TB (Gen 3) expansion card, and I have 2 970 Evo 1TB (Gen 3) NVMe drives on Raid 0 on M2_1 and M2_2 slots. I am looking to add an Asus Hyper M.2 X16 Gen5 with currently 2 SN770 drives 2TB in raid 0, and maybe later 2 SN850x drives in raid 0 as well. So it is clear I am getting PCIe lanes limited. My AN1500 is going to go, but with the addition of the Quadro, I won't be able to add the new drives in there. What is the best course of action ?
  3. Yup, due the CO2 pollution of the 2L NA engine. It is being discontinued in France because of that. https://www.italpassion.fr/en/maserati/maserati-assassinated-by-the-ecological-malus-francais-2024/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaeltaylor/2023/09/30/french-outrage-as-2024-emissions-tariffs-add-thousands-to-new-car-prices/?sh=4c7278f83974
  4. Thanks for your answers. I managed to get a Quadro P2000 (With 4 DP1.4 outputs) for cheap to fill in.
  5. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I already have 2 screens that I use on my desk. I have a simrig to which I want to add 3 screens, amounting to 5 total screens + 1 VR headset to be plugged in my PC
  6. I envy the guys in North America. Living in France, and wanting to replace my F30 328i, I need to add 60k euros of pollution taxes. I wanted that Dark Horse or M3 ... Oh, and the GR86 is 95k now LOL
  7. Hi, Right now I am using a RTX4090 and I already use 3 outputs (2 screens and a Varjo Aero) and I am looking for a way to add 3 more HDMI/DP outputs, as I want to get 3 more screens for a gaming triple screen setup. I obviously still want to use the 4090 processing power. How can I do that ?
  8. Thanks for all the replies ! Sounds like a good solution but I dont have redundant PSU need as it won't handle real clients for a while yet. Rack format wont do though. 1 - Self built, and probably watercooled. 2 - Threads are high frequency high throughput but low memory usage, not more that a few hundred of bytes in total as they all write to the same object
  9. Seems like a good solution, I might go for that as it should be plenty enough ressources. Should I buy those CPUs on ebay ?
  10. I can use WSL but I won't be able to properly stress it as I need to run also 1000s of python clients to properly load the server and I need to run a UE5 graphical client to show all entities. For now I am aiming to use 20 threads that handle 64 entities, but I am aiming to run much more than that once I can validate I don't have any race conditions. The load shouldn't be that big on the network, as each entities will send 32 bytes packet per tick, so 128 times per second, which rounds up to 4MB/s of incoming traffic for the server, so a simple Gigabit ethernet interface should be enough. For now I am looking more at cores number than at IPC, but in the long run, better IPC will mean more entities per thread
  11. Hi, I am currently on my side project which is an highly threaded lock-free game server aiming to handle thousands of clients at 128hz. I am currently using my 5900x 64GB gaming PC but I feel like I am limited, mainly due to running windows despite my code being cross platform. Is there some reasonnably priced servers out there with 64 cores or something ?
  12. It would be to use it as a single monitor And it is the only mini led 4k 240hz on the market I guess ?
  13. G8 is to be avoided because of the scanlines ? And just because of curiosity, what about the Ark for Gaming ?
  14. The issue is that my room gets pretty bright, so my current monitor is not bright enough and I have to close my blinds. Also I want a top tier HDR gaming experience, that is why I shortlisted those two monitors
  15. As expected, quite a controversial subject
  16. I am looking to replace my AOC Q27G2U for gaming on PC (5900x RTX3090) and I don't really know which way to go ? OLED or Mini LED ? I am looking at the Asus PG27AQDM and the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7/G8. My current screen isn't bright enough in SDR tbf and I fear the Asus might suffer of the same issue. Anybody tries one of those ?
  17. Tried to do that, seemed to go flawlessly but now my array wasn't detected anymore, and the RAIDXpert2 doesn't allow me to create new arrays as it doesn't detect any physical devices anymore
  18. NVMe are in M2_1 and M2_2. The WD card wont work in either of the secondary PCIe x16 slots (the middle and bottom one)
  19. I got my PC running a RAID 0 of 970 EVO 1TB on a X570 Taichi board and it is working fine. But when I add my WD_BLACK AN1500, my PC won't boot into windows. POST fine. I understand Windows might be confused seeing 2 raid arrays. It was working fine before I decided to go RAID 0 with my 2 NVMe drives. Any ideas ?
  20. Hi guys, Any idea when the new Xeon W series will be available for purchase in EU ?
  21. With the announcement of the new Xeon platform (especially the W9 3400) I wonder if it is not time to replace my 5900x with a 3475/3495x. I have been using my PC as a gaming PC/Workstation but compiling my codebase with only 12c/24t takes too much time for my liking. I just hope the gaming performance won't be too impacted
  22. Hi guys, I currently have a 5900x in my PC that I use as a gaming PC and a workstation. My current job requires to compile big projects and it takes up to 3h with my CPU at 100%. I have been looking at Threadripper 5xxx but it is quite expensive. Any idea on which CPU would be great for my usecase ?
  23. Hi guys, I am looking for a laptop that would allow me to dev on the Unreal Engine 4 and 5. I am not looking for the most gamer laptop, just something that would run the environment just fine. This won't be my main working PC. I was thinking something with a 3050ti and a Ryzen 9 5900 and a good battery life. Any ideas ? Is the Zephyrus G14 good for that ? I don't really care about budget, I can go up to 2500 eur
