Apparently the virtual machine hypervisor FreeBSD (and therefore FreeNAS) uses isn't particularly good, so you might want to use something else for that, or at least look up on whether it really suits your needs or not. You could consider e.g. Proxmox instead.

Plex doesn't support NVIDIA's hardware for any encoding or decoding under FreeNAS/FreeBSD. You need Windows or Linux for that.

it all depends on your workflow and IDE. I personally prefer a full keyboard since the numpad comes in handy in my particular workflow.

Full steel welded frame, 9 fans (2x 360mm rads), 2x 400mm rads, 2 EK-REVO pumps, all full hardline tubing. (needs some tweeking, but functional). Then for the hardware, Asus ROG X-470F, Rzyen 2700x, Nvidia RTX 2060, 32gb 3600MHz ram, and a toughpower grand 850 PSU. So I went ahead and tried the recovery program. It recognized the drive and scanned it to recover the data, but all the data it did find was the wrong format. For example, I had over 300 MKV files on the drive ranging from 2-3GB, those all were recovered as Shockwave Flash Files that I couldn't open at all.

So yeah, program doesn't work. Just copied everything over and then reformatted it, now it works perfectly fine.

A while back they started making external drives impossible to remove since people were just picking them up for cheap and stripping the drives out. I would just copy everything over on USB 2 overnight. It may be using a proprietary firmware on the drive/controller. If you can salvage the drive after backing up your data it would be nice to have as an internal drive.

Hmm, seems like its isolated to the way the drive interfaces with the controller. If i where you, i would just transfer the data using the old enclosure even though it will be painfully slow rather than risk losing the data. Once your data is transferred then go ahead and install it inside your pc and reformat.

So i am still not understanding what your trying to get at. Are you having odd noises from the CPU fan? What does the GPU have to do with your original question? Please clarify what you are asking.

Ok, have been researching and have found 75% keyboards. These have the function row but retain the compact look. Thanks fo everyone’s help!

Quite a lot actually. I'm in IT and if you're on here I can assume you dabble a bit. Ever alt+ f4? Ever need to hard reload a page? Get into Bios? Also, you may still have function keys hidden under an alt FN. I've used an Planck keyboard before and they get a lot of use that way. FN + 1 = F1 etc.

I have had a full sized keyboard ATM and I don’t use the numpad. I’ll be doing game programming, either Unity or UE4

Wait what? Are you talking about your CPU (processor) or your GPU? Your post says you are hearing noises from the CPU. Can you describe the noise?

Most likely your laptop is overheating. Did you use canned air to clean out the fan and heatsinks? If your feeling a bit bold, you can take apart the laptop and reapply higher quality thermal paste.

That is definitely a good suggestion, but first - I think OP needs a laptop cooler - I had the exact same issue with my laptop - then after few months I've decided to get one of these bad boys,  and boom,  works,  can play for hours and it doesn't throttle...

But: do not ever plug the laptop cooler into the laptop,  use an external power source.  You have been warned.

Reasons: should be obvious,  first it can damage your laptop by drawing too much power or cheap USB cables / connections and second since it draws power it can make the laptop throttle again,  this time for power and not heat..  But the risk of damage is obviously a lot more serious so just use external power and there's no issue simply.
