there is a fan-made python script that automatically pauses and unpauses the slots, which forces them to ask for new WU's more often.

dxzone12 got a reaction from RollinLower in LTT Official Folding Month 2020!!!
Just started my folding machine up again for the first time in a month or two to get it ready for this.
The last time I was folding was earlier in this pandemic when there were huge issues getting work units for GPU.
This seems like it is still an issue as only one of my GPU's has picked up a work unit.

Are there any good ways around this, particularly those that are automated. The method I use at the moment is just occasionally checking to see if it is waiting then pausing and restarting the GPU.

How is this question different from what was talked about last month?
We went over the same thing about "I don't want the VPS host to be able to see/log the traffic, nor any of their ISPs".
@Electronics Wizardy Is providing the only sane or not-paranoid viewpoint in this topic so far. Please, listen to one of us, or learn enough about networking basics (from the bits up to the application layer) that you can make your own magical solution.
To answer the specific question "how companies like ExpressVPN ... keep their service from being logged by the datacenter host" - they don't. They have just enough customers that it isn't possible to work backwards from anything the datacenter host might log to an individual customer. If someone acquires the datacenter host's logs, all they will see is a huge number of incoming encrypted connections to the VPN server from the customers, and a huge number of outgoing unencrypted connections from the VPN server to whatever the customers are doing. Without logs of the VPN server itself, there's no definitive way to connect those two together.

Yes, but did you not also see that going from "very fast" to "normal" speeds only increased the temperatures by 0.4 degrees? that's nothing, margin of error for most people's measurement devices. It is not directly proportional at all, you can really drop the flow rate down to very slow speeds before you start seeing the effects of bad flow.

It is even entirely possible that because there is lower resistance with parallel flow, you might even see better overall flow than serial. And if you took such a bad flow rate and applied it to a serial flow, it will also be bad since the flow rate will be limiting at those very low speeds.

This is the simple concept of bottlenecking (as much as it usually used incorrectly). For the purposes of cooling, system flow rate is not a bottleneck, and thus you can reduce the flow rate by half, and there is very-little-to-no penalty on the cooling performance, simply because other things (such as transfer efficiency between the die to the IHS, or IHS to the waterblock) are more limiting. You can artificially impose a bottleneck in flow rate by reducing the pump rpm, but as you see, it will negatively affect both parallel and serial loops. If you reduce the pump flow rate where it impacts the performance of the cooling, it will do so under all configurations.

I am getting a bit tired of talking to you about this, so you should just go ahead and do your testing. I don't know where your confidence comes from, perhaps Dunning-Kruger effect.

Yes, 250w CPU and 280w GPU (at most for normal overclocking) wont push 750w PSU to its limits even in worse case scenario

Your suggestion to look into the certificate chain led me to an unexplored error message called "Peer Certificate issuer is not recognized", and following this bit of advice the problem seems to have gone away on all devices for now. Don't know what was causing it in the first place still, but oh well.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

The pricing might differ in your region compared to me but I would agree looking at the chips here. The 3600 seems to be the best bang for your buck, from what i have read if you can get the 3600x for not much more it is a small step up. But only really worth it if the price difference is small.

While older B450 motherboards that have been sitting around since before zen 2 released will require a bios update if it is new stock at which ever supplier you choose it will work out of the box. There will be a sticker on the box if it is verified to work with ryzen 3000 series.
Also bonus is that motherboard has the ability to flash the bios without a CPU installed, instructions should be on their site. So even if it is an older one you should be able to do the bios update no problem.

Have not used one myself but from what I have read the NH-D15 is one of the best air coolers out there so it should be plenty for you. Also according to their site the chromax black comes with an AM4 bracket. https://noctua.at/en/nh-d15-chromax-black/specification

That Ram and storage should be plenty fast enough. I have a lower capacity 970 evo plus myself and it works great.

Unless you are stressing it by doing some serious overclocking or something any 80+ gold psu should be totally fine. So this should be good for you. As far as I know anyway

As far as case fans go that should be plenty of air flow as long as there is nothing massive in your case obstructing the path.

I have had the same problems before when picking a motherboard and ram combo.
in my experience they almost always work even with extra letters and whatnot. My understanding of these lists is they just contain ram they have checked and verified as working on the board.

There are so many slightly different models of ram from the same company that they can’t check them all though. The R in this case probably means RGB.

TL:DR it should work totally fine they just haven’t explicitly checked that exact model of ram

WAIT HOLD UP. WE DONT WANT LINUS'S PERSONAL PC. The case has a lot of meaning to him guys. It was a gift from his wife. I believe it was the first gift from her too.
EDIT: Thanks for all the likes guys! Hopefully Linus or someone from LMG will read this and this will make Linus keep his build. Even if the goal of 100k is made we should convince Linus to do another build maybe, with signatures from the whole LMG family and maybe even his wife. This would let Linus keep the build he has with the special case his wife gave him. Besides, his personal PC would be more special to him than us.

I would say re the graphics question at the end it is a little difficult to answer because it does't make the distinction between Graphics as in ultra realism and stylised to fit the feel of the game.  For example if Papers Please or Hotline Miami looked ultra realistic they probably wouldn't be as enjoyable so its not the graphics but the style of the visuals that are important.
