Ultrawide. But be warned once you get one you will be spoiled for life

If I had the money I would get an ultrawide. I like the idea of having the extra room and for my work I use as much screen space as I have available and if I don't have to look back and forth between the screens then that is a good thing

If you can wait then wait. 6 core HQ chips will be much faster in multi core performance

Howard: Mom you know you could see me if you turned on the computer, right?
Howard’s mom: I cant turn that thing on! I’ll catch a computer virus from that thing!
Howard: Mom, you can’t get a virus from computers.
Howard’s Mom: Oh! So now you’re an astronaut and a doctor?!?

I wouldn't be surprised if booting from the HDD on a new computer doesn't work because it's not guaranteed that an install of Windows from one computer will work on another. In the BIOS, it'll only tell you what drives (HDD, DVD, etc.) are connected. They won't display if a CD is present in the drive or what the CD is. Pretty much as Deagon said, check your boot options and make sure your Windows disc or USB is made properly. If you have the Windows ISO, I would recommend using Microsoft's own utility to make a bootable Windows Install Disk.

When you say the system won't boot up to the installation, what are you referring to? Does the system give you an option to "press any key to boot from CD"?

There's not much you could do about it from what I know of. I would just leave the lid open I guess?

Ah hell yeah. Not very old, but you should try a game called "Sins of a solar empire".

Dota 2 Reborn has custom maps with a lot of the old WC3 maps remade into the Source 2 engine, you should give it a go

Pretty vague but I'll take a guess because you're using a pad and not mouse/keyboard. You already pointed out Assassins Creed which I really enjoyed, I also enjoyed the latest Tomb Raider. Those both play great with the xbox pads. Take your pick of driving games like the Dirt/Grid series which are both great (if you can get past the annoying voices in).
There are so many great experiences to be had on the PC with a controller, just avoid the multiplayer shooters like CoD and CS since you'll be at a major disadvantage.

Look up the basics of C. Those are very simple questions.
I'd say look up the equation online and then it wouldn't be too hard to build it in C.
http://www.cprogramming.com/tutorial/ - This should teach you the C basics for the first, second and thirt question
http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/cmath/sqrt/ - This should help you with your 2nd question. I know that this is a C++ reference but it's the same in C. C++ is basically C with the ability to create Objects.
