  1. I've got a 1tb nvme that I use for my os and games. Was only thinking it might work for some older games, but I can always un install games if not playing. I have 2 1tb hdds in my case now, just wanted to de clutter.
  2. I have my own desktop and would only install the games on it as a external drive mapping
  3. I'm planning on repurposing my old desktop into a NAS so that my family can store videos, photos, movies, etc. on and get out of the cloud. I've got an i7 6700k with 16GB of RAM and I'm planning on buying 3x 3TB barracuda drives for storage. I'll be loading nextcloud on it to help with photo and document syncing. If possible, I'd also like to run steam games off of it, but I figured that would require a decent local bandwidth. Which solution would work better for my setup? Thanks in advance!
  4. I run 16GB of RAM right now and that's at 100% utilization. Was looking to double it. Haven't set any of my games to high priority, but can try that. I can hold off replacing the card while upgrading everything else, though if I keep getting screen tears then I may need to do something else about that (forgot to mention that too). Even with Adaptive Sync enabled, I still get tearing going on.
  5. Yeah, that's what I was referring to. I purchase my 2060 shortly after it came out and the Super came out not too long after.
  6. Running vmware, blueirirs, plex, obs and a video game kills my cpu. Playing Rise of the Tomb Raider right now and I can't get over 45 FPS.
  7. That's true, but new ones are coming out every 6 months or so, aren't they?
  8. My current card can't handle the graphics I'm trying to push to it, and only 8 threads on the CPU is holding me back from multi-tasking.
  9. Well, the B550 would support Zen3 and the 3700X isn't very expensive. The extra cores would certainly help some of my current issues.
  10. How long for those? I'm hitting limits on my current system.
  11. Budget (including currency): $2200 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Online games, high detail single player games, hosting webserver, plex host, blue iris server Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I have a Samsung EVO 970 Pro that I will be bringing over. Everything else would be new. CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Cooler - NZXT Kraken X63 MOBO - MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk (non-wifi) Memory - Corsair Vengance RGB Pro 32GB (2x16GB) DDR-3200 CL16 GFX - Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Aorus Case - Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB PSU - Corsair RM850 Monitor - Asus ROG Strix XG279Q
  12. Thanks! I've already got some hard drives that I may be able to repurpose so I can save on that there too.
  13. I finally have a new job now and can seriously consider purchasing new PCs. Is this list still relevant, or should it be updated? I won't need a hard drive as I have plenty of those laying around.
  14. Does this mean that my VCore is variable so it's not constantly running at 1,42?
