If you can scalp the 4090 and 4080, might have enough profit to buy a 4090 using the free money you got from scalping to get a 4090 once things cool down to keep for yourself for your computer, essentially for free.

You don't understand your fellow nerds very well 🙂

Scalpers will clean up with these, I am upset I didn't invest in a few bots myself.  4090 scalping =  EASY MONEY.

Man I used to have that EXACT CPU. Let me tell you. When I would play games where there were a lot of characters on screen, all that AI generation on the CPU would TANK my frame rate, even on a 2080 Ti. For example when I would get into villages with a bunch of people I would tank down to low 40 FPS, and it would be nearly unplayable at times. However in areas like jungle environments or with only a few enemies to fight, there was absolutely no problem. I was GPU bound.

So I think you should upgrade your CPU. It wasn't cutting it for me. Even at 1440p, i had great issues on that CPU.

I would recommend at LEAST 8 core 16 thread CPU as this is what the consoles will have. i9 9900k or the tenth generation one.

Or whatever the CPU from AMD is in the 3000 series with 8 core 16 thread, or if you want get the 3900X or XT variant. I currently have the 3900x and haven't had any issues at all.

Can get a higher core count so you don't have to upgrade for a bit if you want. I want to get at least 8 years out of the 3900x. I hope I can make it.

Yoshi Moshi reacted to HumdrumPenguin in Return your RTX 3080 while you can
Aside from the FE and Asus models, all other RTX 3080 cards seem to be consistently crashing at 2000Mhz+ core clock speed. Actually, people here in the forum are already complained about crashes on the FE model. To add salt to the injury, a leak from the GALAX roadmap shows that a 3080 with 20gb VRAM is coming, and likely very soon (as well as a RTX 3060).

Now... ask yourself, once these cards are out, how much do you think your 10gb model will be worth? Not to mention that it will be bottlenecking your card's raw power rather sooner than later. The new consoles are raising the graphical bar, so don't go expecting to be safe with 8-10gb VRAM, because you won't be. It's the 1060 3gb and 6gb dilemma all over again. Thinking that you may need the extra VRAM more in 2 ore 3 years only, once 4000 series are released, is just wrong, because you shouldn't buy a product and expect it to be good for just a couple years.

Also, for all of you who say that the card is good enough, I tell you this: you don't buy a high end product to settle for good enough. And hey, the RTX 3080 is not even that.

I get your point, and can see where your coming from. I guess it all depends on what the resell prices will be, which we have no way of knowing.

All we can do is look at similar situations:

The purchase price and resell value of the RTX 2080 when the RTX 2080 Super came out. The purchase price of and resell value of a RTX 2080 Super when RTX 3### series was announced.

    Vs

The purchase price and resell value of the RTX 2080 Ti when RTX 3### series.

I guess we have no way of knowing the resell values of the RTX 3080 10 GB, RTX 3080 20 GB, and RTX 3090 will be.

I just called up another microcenter, and they said there's already someone waiting in line outside of their store in a tent for a 3080. This is crazy guys. It's just like the PS3 launch all over again, people lining up days in advance. Thankfully there will be less people getting the 3090, so I have a better shot at getting one. But the earliest I'm going to get there is 5 pm Wednesday. I can't get there earlier because of work.

    GUYS!!!!!!!!!

My microcenter just confirmed it!!!!!!! This is great news, I'm very excited!!!!
They will have very limited quantity reserved for in person purchases only on 9/17 at their store location!!!!

Think about it! I can spend all day Thursday hitting F5 several thousands of times and have no guarantee of getting one. All the work of hitting refresh, and taking the time off from work, could all be for nothing! Lets say I some how the heavens are in my favor on 9/17 and I'm one of the 1 in several million people that will be spamming F5 all day long to get one, and I get one!!! I'll have to wait several days for them to ship to me!

Much easier to just camp outside of a microcenter for about 12 hours and guarantee to be the first person in line, and guaranteed to get one! And i'll have it in my hands on 9/17!!! I'll be able to put it into my system, and play games with this blessing on 9/17, Several days sooner than if I'm successful ordering one online.

Think about it!!! It's smarter to camp outside of a microcenter!

Yoshi Moshi got a reaction from jones177 in Will it be worth upgrading from a 2080 Ti to a 3080?
3090 is NOT the titan card or the TITAN equivalent! 3090 is not the full die. The full die has slightly more cuda cores and 48 GB of RAM. It has leaked. However, because of the insane amount of VRAM, it's a quadro card, however based on it being the same exact die, except the FULL die, it's a titan.

3090 is not he titan, but the new enthusiast card. They gave it a new name this time, so that way they could charge more. Could you imagine if they called it 3080 Ti and charged $1500? No of course, so they had to give it a different name to lie to us. It's not a titan, if it was a titan, they would have just called it such.

Seeing if anyone has any updated on this. Thanks.

I'm not asking inventory levels. I'm not asking what time will the truck come with the RTX 3080. I'm not asking where they are located in the backroom. I'm simply a customer trying to buy a product from your store as a regular customer, give you my money, and asking if you will have the RTX 3080 for sale in physical store locations on 9/17. Please let me know thanks.

I know they will go for sale on 9/17 on Bestbuy.com, however I know people will spam F5 all day long trying to purchase one. The website will likely crash, and I will most likely not be able to purchase the product on your website. My best shot at buying this product from your store is showing up several hours before your store opens 9/17 at a physical location, ensuring I'm the first person in line, and guaranteed to get one IF you will have the product for sale at your physical store locations.

With 8k displays being crazy expensive, not to mention none exist with FeeSync or Gsyn, so why bother. Is there a use case for games that don't game with 8k? Seems like even a 4k 144 Hz panel doesn't suffice a 3090. The official benchmarks for a 3080 in Doom Eternal have FPS higher than 144 Hz in some instances at 4K. So who really needs a RTX 3090, seems like gamers don't need one.

why not just solder on another one. They probably cost a few dollars? I wouldn't pay a "processional" $100 per hour to solder on a resistor, on a very old video card. Just get the resistor yourself from like digikey and solder it on
