  1. Hi. I have reseated the RAM and the GPU a few times and it didn't fix it. Is there anyway to narrow down what is wrong? I've already tried a different GPU. I guess I'll look to see if some extra RAM anywhere but I don't think I do. I tried the old GPU in a different computer and it worked. So it comes down to RAM or MOBO or I guess CPU I have no idea Well I put the ram in another computer and it turned on. So I have computer that gives me a black screen when turned on but no beep error codes. But I put the RAM, and GPU from this computer into another computer and it turns on fine. I have tried reseating the ram and GPU in the bad computer multiple times. Not sure what's wrong.
  2. I have an old Alienware X51 R2. MOBO: Apears to be some custom MOBO for dell. The original MOBO that came with this prebuilt RAM: I upgraded the default 8 GB DDR3 to 16 GB DDR3. Don't remember what brand or speed, don't think it matters Storage: A SATA SSD, don't remember brand or specs, don't think it matters GPU: Nvidia GTX 745, 4 GB PSU: A smaller older PSU, don't remember specs don't think it matters Ok so the computer was working fine. The user of the computer tends to leave their computer on for extended periods of time by accident and forgets to turn off. I saw the left it on and turned it off. Now when turning on, nothing appears on display. Tried a different display and have the same problem. Removed this GPU and put into another computer and the second computer worked fine Removed GPU from second computer (known to be working) and put into computer with problem, nothing appears on display Tried reconnecting SATA and power cable to SSD, MOBO power cable, CPU power cable, reseat the two sticks of RAM, same issue On start up the fans spin and LED lights glowing. Fan on GPU spins. No error beep codes occur. Hear first single beep indicating it passed the POST, but still get nothing on display. Not sure how to trouble shoot this further other than to think the MOBO might have gone bad? The GPU connector on the MOBO looks fine and not damaged. Thanks for any help. If I have to buy another MOBO can I transfer my OS and keep all of my files to the new MOBO? I also have some really old computers that are extra but not sure they would support the OS I'm using they are that old, like Windows Vista PCs lol. Was thinking I could just use them and keep all my files but think they are to old. I would like to keep my files.
  3. Yea I have the big one you see in that picture already, but I'd like a smaller one to mount how I described vertically. I don't think they make one I'm looking for?
  4. Case = Thermaltake The Tower 900 Computer Case I would like to install a pump that is mounted on the vertical surface here: It's now shown in the pictures, but there's actually four slots (picture only shows two) so that you can vertically mount either a SDD/HDD there or possibly a water pump. Two sets of two. The ones not shown are to the right of the ones that are highlighted. I'm not able to find a water pump that has this type of mounting. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Just to clarify here, I would like a water pump whose base of the pump can be mounted vertically here, so that there is space underneath the pump. Meaning this part get's mounted there. Now I need only a pump, not a reservoir, I already have one (a reservoir). Most build I see in this case they mount pumps on the horizontal surface (like in the picture above), but I would like to mount one in the location of the highlighted portion of the first picture I posted. I think most people don't mount pumps in the location I'd prefer because they have a pump/reservoir combo that would take up a lot of vertical space and would interfere with the motherboard and cables. So if I can find just a pump only that can mount there, that would be great. I think the slots I'm referring to in the first picture, a 2.5" x 2" HDD/SDD tray can also be mounted in that location, is there a pump that can also be mounted in this location? Thanks for any help! Thanks for any help.
  5. I'm hearing reports of a line already forming at the Tustin CA store, might already be to late lol.
  6. If you can scalp the 4090 and 4080, might have enough profit to buy a 4090 using the free money you got from scalping to get a 4090 once things cool down to keep for yourself for your computer, essentially for free.
  7. Yes of course older models decrease in perceived value when newer model get announced or is released, less demand for old model high supply
  8. Why not just buy the pad (very cheap) and replace it yourself? The amount of time and money spent on shipping it back to the seller, you could have just replaced the pad yourself for far less frustration and cost. What do you expect from a used item? It's not going to run like it's brand new, especially after two years. Maybe the seller had it on water, and returned to the stock cooler. The original thermal pads are a near one time use item. Hair and stuff will get on them, dust etc, if he left them exposed, or got crushed etc.. So maybe they are not the original thermal pads, but not sure that it really matters.
  9. I wonder if the lines will start forming any hour now. I remember for the 3090 launch people waiting outside of California microcenter for about a whole week.
  10. Welp it looks like the status on Best Buy 4090s have a changed status of "Sold Out" so I think the pre-orders are already gone at best buy? Originally it was "Coming Soon" but now it's sold out lol. All that appears to be left is third party board partner cards, which are still "Coming Soon" but if it's like the launch of the 3000 series, Best Buy will only get the Nvidia card on launch, which is already gone for pre order. Now the only question is if they will have any in store physically of the cards. I sure hope so. Best Buy is 20 minutes from me, while MicroCenter is 2 hours. I'm surprised the pre-orders aren't already listed for sale on e-bay for the people who were able to get one. For the 3000 series they were up for sale on ebay shortly after pre-orders sold out.
  11. that's what it seems like, online only, only store that will have physical is microcenter (as of now confirmed) sounds like a repeat waiting to happen of the 3000 series launch. Only place can get in person will be microcenter. But hopefully that will change and best buy will have them in store.
  12. Where did you get the higher availability information? I was expecting 10-20 at my microcenter. For the 3090 there was 10. But good news that you got some availability information! I'm expecting less demand because of mining. Anyone know if Best Buy will have them in store physically?
  13. apparently i have heard from a microcenter in the states that they will have cards in store physically best buy when i asked said they still don't know yet anybody else plannign on camping out, is there reports of lines yet?
  14. I was wondering. Are there any confirmed physical stores (not online shopping) that will have the 4090 on launch date? Or is this still unknown at this time? Hopefully I can get a pre-order, but I assume it will be like last time with the 3000 series and the the bots will buy all the pre-orders the very second they are released. So I don't have high hopes, and my only chance of getting one on launch date is in person. I presume at least microcenter will have them? It would also be nice if Best Buy had them, because the closest microcenter to me is about a two hour drive, while the closest best buy is about 20 minutes or so. How much are these cards expected to go for on like ebay by all the people who didn't get one? I remember the 3090s going for more than double purchase price. I remember people camping out for over a week for the 3090. Please let me know, and thanks.
  15. Yea I figured. A Dell Optiplex would be the best for 250$ budget? I'm really not familiar with hardware in the price bracket at all
  16. Budget (including currency): 250 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Zoom, Internet Browsing Word Processing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm not familiar with hardware in this price range. I don't know how one can even build a desktop within this price range. Can someone please lend me a hand? This is for someone that just wants to use the computer for nothing but using Zoom, surfing the internet, watching YouTube, and doing word processing. The person was using a newer laptop HP Laptop 14-dq005dx (https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-14-d0000-laptop-pc-series/28803377/model/38322708/document/c07006533) and it had difficulty with Zoom. This person does not want to do any gaming. I assume an integrated graphics CPU would be required. I believe that buck for buck, a desktop would outperform a laptop, but at a $250 price range I'm not so sure if that applies. My friend can use her TV as a monitor, and then a mouse and keyboard combo for about $20 at goodwill. Can someone help me put a build together for this budget.?
  17. I have a ASUS RTX 3090 TUF with a water block and backplate. The water block is from EK, as well as the backplate. I using water as coolant. I had cyberpunk 2077 open, max settings (with RTX on max), 4K on one screen. And HWINFO on a second monitor, 1440p. My card is not overclocked. The max temperature I ever got to was 47 deg c. I think my card is broken, it shouldn't be this cold? Is this normal?
