WAIT HOLD UP. WE DONT WANT LINUS'S PERSONAL PC. The case has a lot of meaning to him guys. It was a gift from his wife. I believe it was the first gift from her too.
EDIT: Thanks for all the likes guys! Hopefully Linus or someone from LMG will read this and this will make Linus keep his build. Even if the goal of 100k is made we should convince Linus to do another build maybe, with signatures from the whole LMG family and maybe even his wife. This would let Linus keep the build he has with the special case his wife gave him. Besides, his personal PC would be more special to him than us.

About the issues people have with consoles:

Isn't this a tech forum in general? Why bash console players for doing something they enjoy?

I play PC personally but if I'm at a friends house and we drink beer, we play his PS3.
In my mind a tech forum should be all about the tech, regardless of whether its on a desk or in an entertainment center.

Again, it is a tech forum... and there is always going to be some part you don't care about. But the new iPad/Phone/Mac etc is still technology, and say what you want, but they do have some incredible manufacturing at their disposal.

In my mind, if you don't care, don't read it.

And I'm not trying to argue, either.
    Just my $.02

I'm assuming you're referring to @LinusTech.  Everyone has their own tastes, especially in humor.  I think it would be a wrong for Linus to change his mannerisms.  That's a part of what makes the man.  To change would be to conform to a preconceived notion of himself.

In a realm where negativity is the norm, its nice to get a compliment from time to time. Showing gratitude for the content isn't "cock riding" - If thats the case, stop riding the cock of the next person you compliment, because its the same thing.

I am subbed to a fair few of the YT Channels. I always check for update to LTT, JayzTwoCents ,Paul's Hardware, Techuploaded ,OC3d,NCIX , just to name a few. I have really learnt a lot from these guys and enjoy their content. If your subs are increasing and not going down you must be doing something right. And to Jay you have the right attitude mate, can't please all the people all the time. Keep up the good work.

I don't get the point of 4k atm. I mean, if those cards can't run it at a solid 60 plus, then there really is not point. I wouldn't sacrifice that much performance for a bit of eye candy tbh. Nice build, I just don't think it has a place. I would rather run at 2560x1440 on those same cards.

I have a gtx 560 Ti and wanted to buy a Gtx 780 Ti (or a Maxwell card when it comes out if it's worth it).

Since I didn't want to throw away my Gtx 560 Ti I wanted to know if I could do a sli with that card and the Gtx 780 Ti.

That's like saying a new company starts making a product and becomes popular so the company gets bigger due to demand. Then said company modifies product but the original buyers don't like it , but with the modification the company appeals to a new buyer or demographic and gets bigger. The company will keep providing a product as long as it is still popular and not change due to a minority dislike. As has been said before vote with your feet , if you don't like the product walk . If it gets to a point that what Linus is doing is losing a big proportion of members then he has to look at doing things differently or sink. Only time and member numbers will tell.

It isn't really free in the actual sense? You mean it's not free because we are given his content for no charge of any kind? I haven't sent a penny to Linus and I sure haven't given any money to advertising companies on YouTube.

Unless someone consistently donates a rather substantial amount of funds (a halted $5 a month payment might go unnoticed) not a single one of us produces enough revenue to make a dent big enough for Linus to say we are directly affecting his paycheck just by viewing his videos. Sure, if he suddenly lost 300,000 subscribers he would notice, but the thirty-something thousand that have viewed this thread and even less that actively complained wouldn't make a difference. This thread's views alone is a whopping 3.5% of his subscribers, and much smaller of his total video views. And of course, who knows how many of those are duplicates on both this website's and YouTube's side.

So no, I nor you (as far as I can tell) in any definition pay Linus. Besides, people also use Adblock, and that means your twisted interpretation of what's free is not enough to prevent bringing up the 'toxic stance'.

but he dosent owe you. look if you had brought his products even when they were shit, watched his videos when there were not that good. stuck by him when he admitted to killing puppies(we all know he loves the cat) then he would owe you something but he didnt. linus made videos that entertained and informed you and you consumed them helping him to grow. LTT videos got better(objectively speaking) products started to improve and we arrive here to day. if you dont like the direction he has took then move on, stop watching its that simple. some people on here commented on that "if you dont like it dont watch it" mentality is toxic..... i disagree its entertainment in general as entertainment is very subjective. it may come off as ignorant and i didnt mean it to it just is what it is.

change is inevitable, at least it is if you want to stay relevant and my guess is linus does given how much has gone  into getting LTT to where it is now, but with that change comes the inevitable, old members will leave/stop watching, new ones will start and as long as the new are replacing the old at a greater rate then all is good.

After reading through the majority of the comments on this topic, it seems like it's full of two outspoken minorities. Those with a significant amount of nostalgia surrounding the state that LTT used to be in, with a few relevant points and a lot of nostalgia. Of course I may be wrong but that's how it seems. Having now gone back and watched a number of the older videos I don't see that much of a difference. I agree with what Linus said about how his channel has changed. I don't personally see the change as a move towards the impersonal. I think that the professionalism does not really have that significant of an effect on the actual content of his videos, it does however change the way it is delivered. I like that he now takes the time to create a well developed set of opinions on what he reviews (in the form of a script). It may seem impersonal or fake to some of you, but I just don't see it.
The other outspoken minority are the defenders. Many of them (like me) are new and can't honestly see enough of a difference to understand some of your points. Some are older and still they disagree enough to speak for the current state of the show.
I'm sure the majority of the viewers are happy. I think it's in the best interest of the community and for the LMG that LTT continues to keep up the professionalism it has created.

Something else I think worth pointing out is that shows end because people get bored of them. If you don't change anything, or if the original viewership has just been watching for sooooo long, they get bored. Some of you may be getting bored with LTT because you've been watching for so long. There's only so much variety you can expect when it comes to a tech review show.

    @LinusTech

Would/do you shoot additional non-scripted content for videos? You could have Slick or anyone off camera saying stuff to you or asking questions to get more spontaneous opinions etc.
Have you ever seen Rev3Games' "Address the Sess" or  "Unmute Yourself"? They usually have a couple of their personalities on a google hangout with a general framework for the episode (one or two topics) and then they invite members of their community and industry people on to dialogue with them. A more community oriented video to take up another day of the week may attract some of these people who miss the perceived personality and spontaneity of older videos.

Sure, but he is obviously pandering to the type of videos/viewers that draws the most amount of revenue at the present time. So, just because you don't like a channel's style doesn't mean they owe you anything. People who dislike LMG's direction are largely in the minority.

I'm pretty sure he owes it to himself for making videos good enough to make a living out of. What I really mean is he doesn't Owe a certain type of videos to anyone. Viewers are great, but if they don't want what he's producing then they essentially don't want LMG to grow as efficiently as possible.

Aside from me, I have five full time employees. We all work every workday, and I work at least a little bit every single day - that's 365 dedication, baby.

It took me over an hour on my 1000ms ping Internet while I was away on the island visiting family this weekend each night to release my videos.

Thanks for all the feedback. I appreciate it.

One thing I really want people who long for the good 'ol days to consider is this: Have I really changed, or have you changed?

The timing of this post is particularly interesting since it comes RIGHT AFTER I uploaded not one, but two motherboard videos in just a few days... What is more "classic LTT" than a motherboard overview video? Yes, it's better shot, and I have a chance to gather my thoughts BEFORE the video rather than during it (scripting), but is it POSSIBLE that you just don't need to hear about every motherboard anymore since there just isn't really that much to say about them?

The reasons you see me branching out are not due to a focus on money, but because I believe in the longer term it will be better for the audience. #1 is that I try not to say or do the same thing twice if I can avoid it. If that means that I don't unbox all three capacities of the same power supply the way that I used to, then so be it. #2 is that I let my own personal interests and projects guide the direction of the content because if I'm not actually passionate about it, you guys will clue in for sure and then this is all just pointless.

I'm sorry to those folks that aren't as interested in headphones as I am, but the content will continue to be about the things I think are interesting, not just PC tech.

Also some of the complaints here seem to be pure bandwagoning... The folks that are saying that *I* have sold out to ASUS because *Logan* made however many ASUS videos with JJ... Are you for real? CES coverage aside, I've made 5 ASUS product videos this calendar year. FIVE. If anything you guys should be hounding me about not adequately covering them given what a MASSIVE player they are in the PC space...

And frankly many of the other criticisms are like that... Calling what we do a commercial compared to the older-style unboxings is laughable. GO WATCH THE OLD STUFF. I'M LITERALLY READING THE BOX ON CAMERA. I have no prior experience with the product. It is PURE commercial. Now go watch one of our recent reviews (bear in mind not everything we do is something I'd consider a review) like this one:

Not a commercial. Contains many comparisons to other products. Ends with a recommendation against the product in the video.

As for us not going to Computex, quite frankly it's the viewer-base that spoke on this one. Last time I checked our Computex coverage last year got 1/2 as many views as our CES coverage, and cost our sponsors well over twice as much. You guys didn't care, so we aren't going this year.

    CES 2013 coverage: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8mG-RkN2uTxynknFjCZ2YVM_RiBgde7-
    Computex 2013 coverage: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8mG-RkN2uTyJKThbEAxoGGi8uXxNqnbb

edit: one more thing. Don't take the fact that I'm presenting my arguments here as a dismissal or to mean that I don't care about the viewpoints of my viewers. I truly do. If I didn't care, I would just be like every other YouTuber and ignore your message. I want our videos to make every one of our viewers happy. It's just not always possible

I agree with OP, but realistically this is what happens with all forms of media. If you don't like it, stop watching. "Vote with your wallet" if I may paraphrase.

Linus's business makes him money and the cold hard reality is nothing else matters. The old LTT model of picking up some random hardware from the warehouse next door and shooting the video with a camcorder simply isn't attractive to manufacturers, which is a problem because his subscriber base uses adblock.
