Haro got a reaction from Stahlmann in Upgrade later this year
how hot?
um how does the model of the card matter when it comes to temps? unless the cooler is bad.
well assuming it's at 4k, there's not much load on the cpu but there is on the gpu, so not really a bottleneck. though the card isn't really made for 4k.
wait for ampere and big navi and check what they have to offer, for now this build should be fine. and if you're planning on moving to a different platform, wait for zen 3 as well.

Haro got a reaction from Oswin in Cheap, affordable upgrade from gtx 750 ti
Well I'm blind lol.
Well the best that you can get is either a 5500xt which goes for around 170-80ish bucks or a 580 or a 1650 super.
Without knowing the PSU though. If it doesn't have a pcie cable, the 1650 is the best this. But again, if you can check the PSU. That would he great.

Haro got a reaction from Nena Trinity in What do you consider fast RAM?
for zen 2, assuming we keep the fclk at 1:1.
3800cl17/16: fast.
3600cl16/3200cl14: average.
3200cl16: slow but still good enough.
for coffee lake and comet lake.
4000/4400: fast.
3600/3800: average.
3200: slow but good enough.

That's excellent. I'll check them out and consider these as contenders. Thanks, man

Haro got a reaction from Dr0y in Asus B550-E Gaming and pcie3.0
No you won't as the strix f doesn't have pcie switchers. But even then, sli is dead for gaming and brings little to no performance benifits and doesn't scale well. By that time getting a better GPU would be the better option.

Budget? Giving a number would help.
But for that workload. Getting an optiplex with a 3770 for like 150 bucks will be more than enough.
But if you have to go new. An athlon 3000g/220g build will more than enough.

where are you buying the parts from?
though used is also an option

overkill board, at its price it only fits Ryzen 9s.
to the chipset yes (lines up with your PCIe 3 claim). Dont forget Ryzen platform also has a M.2 slot directly connected to the CPU, on B550 it runs PCIe 4.0 x4. B550-E has 2 M.2 slots in total.

Haro reacted to minibois in Asus Hero vii - Connectors with Shared Bandwith
Videocard: top slot (PCIEx16_1)
970 Evo #1: M.2_2
970 Evo #2: M.2_1
SATA devices: any of the SATA ports except SATA6G_2 (which is disabled because 970 Evo #2).
Corsair H115i: If memory serves right, you just need a single fan header (CPU_FAN), SATA power and a USB 2.0 internal header.
Other case fans can be connected to the other CHA_FAN headers (whichever fit the best way)
The front USB headers can be plugged into the appropriate connector(s).

Doesn't matter. What you need to look for is airflow through the front and top if you're concerned about overheating.

Haro reacted to minibois in Quad channel on 3rd gen Ryzen?
While the information above is true, it's also completely irrelevant to the question asked by OP.
The question by OP is if they can use four sticks of memory:
So it doesn't matter which banks they decide to put the memory in; since all four will be used anyways.
Sure, slots 2 and 4 should be used when using two sticks. When using four, just use all slots.
To be clear: Ryzen support 4 sticks of memory, which would be two sets of dual channel (to avoid confusion by the irrelevant info above).

that has nothing to do with what you said.

Haro got a reaction from Crxcked in QLC M.2 vs SATA SSD
well the p1 is decent in some areas, but for a casual user/ as a boot drive. i wouldn't get it as it's well qlc.
go for the a2000 like what @Oswin said.
but if you're limited to both of these, i would get the mx500, as it's fast enough for a casual user anyways.
-
Haro got a reaction from piratemonkey in Quad channel on 3rd gen Ryzen?
what?
the cpu physically has 2 memory channels, so four sticks will result in 2 sticks per channel.
TR has 4 memory channels and TR pro has 8.

You have to explain your stance further, because what you said above does not make sense to me.
Are you saying I wouldn't be able to use slots 1 and 3 for memory at all? That's untrue and would not make sense (why include something one can not use?)

Haro got a reaction from CharlyGMP in Overclocking a Ryzen 5 3600
i mean if you want to play around, just do go over 1.3 for the vcore for the cpu under load, and check how far you can go, but as i said for the most part pbo does the same thing that a manual overclock does.

Haro reacted to Mateyyy in Quad channel on 3rd gen Ryzen?
Ryzen - dual-channel memory (up to 4 DIMMs)
Ryzen Threadripper - quad-channel (up to 8 DIMMs)
Ryzen Threadripper Pro - eight-channel (up to 16 DIMMs)
-
Haro reacted to Kilrah in Quad channel on 3rd gen Ryzen?
Ryzen is dual channel, you'll just have 2 sticks per channel.

Haro reacted to CharlyGMP in Overclocking a Ryzen 5 3600
I think I'll just stick to PBO and done... I have a good cooler but I don't want to risk my cpu, things are expensive in my country and with my teacher salary I can't afford to buy a new cpu hahaha

Haro got a reaction from CharlyGMP in Overclocking a Ryzen 5 3600
ryzen generally doesn't have a big headroom for overclocking, they are pretty much maxed out, out of the box.
you can enable pbo and check, usually pbo achieves the same thing that a manual overclock does.
