  1. Thanks. While I appreciate your feedback in this post, I did’t ask for your opinion on how good it is, only whether or not it was soldered... which you didn’t answer ? Personally I think this is a very viable chip for the purpose I have in mind.
  2. Hi Guys, I’d like to know which intel cpus can be dellidded without dealing with solder. Can most of the 6th to 9th generation processors be delidded normally? (I appreciate that soldered ones CAN actually be delidded of course, but it’s going to be too much hassle to relid for me).
  3. I agree the Fuma looks better engineered, for sure. But the lucifer is about £20 and the Funa about £40. this is for a third party, on a shoe string budget. personally I use the noctua d14. interesting read though, fan cubic feet per minute vs static pressure.
  4. Also, make sure you have a fast ssd. Nvme m.2 is ideal On ram, go for lower latency over higher frequency. The best performance comes from cpu overlock, and faster MHz ram may limit this. Remember, this cpu officially only supports Upto 1600 MHz memory. Set memory to 1333 first. Set cache ratio to 30. VCcin to 1.85 then overlock the cores as normal. Once happy bump the cache ratio up. Then ram finally. Following the LTT haswell overcooking guide helped me.
  5. 4790k is king of 4th gen, but as you are limited in overcooking any version of the 4790 you can get as cheap as possible is the correct answer.
  6. Because I recon the biggest factor for heavy lifting is the number of heat pipes. And it’s got loads. And it’s cheap.
  7. First I run Windows update until nothing is left. Use windows defender for av. Then I install all drivers for everything (sometimes wonder update has already installed a brewer version, but it lets you know). Uninstall onedrive. Uninstall Skype. Then, overclock. Not before.
  8. I agree. Get the best gpu you can afford. You can always use this later. i have the 4790k. A delid with liquid metal made it really really awesome. Unless you need more then 4 cores, this chip rocks... at 4.9 ghz is in the 99th percentile single threaded.
  9. Hi there. Anyone got experience with the “Lucifer V2” cooler? It’s got six heat pipes and is dirt cheap. I suspect it’s good for the money, but bulky.
  10. I am thinking of delidding a 9350kf. Anyone else done this? I tend to delid and liquid metal all chips by default, but just want to check if the 9350kf has solder, or anything else that could make it tricky...
