So I have kind of screwed up on my new build in a asrock deskmeet x300. I ordered a 5600 on ebay which never came and I got impatient and went to best buy and got a 5600x as it was all they had. It get seriously hot and I feel like the processor is too overkill for the set up I have. I have a 120mm aio that I would rather use but it doesn't fit the case without destroying part of it (still contemplating doing that or running the computer open). It is fine at idle ~ 55C with a 1.1V and 3850 undervolt but any stress testing immediately jumps it to the high 80s and then I stop it. Would it still have these issues if it were a 5600 or 5500? I don't know if returning the 5600x is possible after installing. Maybe I am not undervolting correctly. Any advice would be really helpful. I do not need the most performance out of this build but I feel like I just wasted a bunch of money on something that runs like crap. specs are the deskmeetx300 which has an itx board and a 500w power supply. 3600/c18 ram which I am having trouble setting at 3200/16 2x16gb. A ryzen 5600x with wraith stealth. 1tb intel nvme ssd 670 I think. RX 6600 gpu.

Fair enough. I upgraded my brothers 1080 to a 6800xt, but his 1080 is older and had some crashing issues so he couldn't wait like me. The 5700xt probably has all the performance I want anyway so maybe a 7600xt or 7700xt would be cool.

Budget (including currency): 500-700 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1440p gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): PSU 750 W, currently have 5700xt and 5600x I know the data isn't out there yet to have a clear answer, but how do you guys feel about buying a 6800xt now vs waiting for whatever the 7700xt or 7800xt release at? For around $550 I can get a 6800xt but it's a 2-year old card now with new 7000 series around the corner. I also thought about the 6900xt but I don't want to have to replace my psu. My worries about the 7000 series are waiting for the lower price cards to come out, those cards not having good price/performance, and not being able to get one when they release. I am a fan of the 6800xt, but am I being dumb by going all in on a gpu when better stuff is around the corner?

So my brother is worried about upgrading his current 1080 to what I am suggesting, a 6800xt because he doesn't want to waste his g sync monitors. I think this isn't an issue as it'll still work for the amd card. Can anyone articulate why? Basically he thinks the amd card won't use his monitors potential, the monitor is the lg 27gl850 and lg27gn650. I'm a bit of an amd fanboy and he trusts Nvidia more

I uploaded the pictures he sent to me and my first instinct is to reinstall windows. Hes running a ryzen apu either 1st or 2nd gen. Any help would be super appreciated.

My phone died earlier and when I charged it and went to reboot the phone it would not recognize my password. I do not have any other way of getting past the lock screen right now other than doing a factory reset, though I really do not want to lose all my contacts, texts, and pictures. Do any of you guys know a solution? I'm freaking pissed and have looked through the internet pretty hard and outside of some paid programs, not that I trust them, I see no way out.

Is it safe/does it work to try and get your comp to boot before you install the cpu cooler?

Ok so I was swapping out my wraith spire for a dark rock pro 4 and when I installed the dark rock the computer would no longer boot and was stuck at the first dbug led. I tried to swap the CPU out to a ryzen 2600 which I have laying around and it would get stuck on boot. I thought maybe the issue was with the mobo so I went out and bought a B550, but I am not able to boot either. Both the 5600x and the 2600 get to the boot dbug led and then turn off. One of the things that could have gone wrong is the dark rock only had 3 out of 4 spacers and I installed it without all of them. Maybe it was overtightened because of this? Any thoughts? I am so confused. Specs: Ryzen 5600x Powercolor Red Dragon 5700xt WD Blue SN550 1TB Mobo - B450 tomahawk with latest bios / B550 gaming plus Bitfenix formula 80 gold psu 750W phanteks p400a Seagate barracuda 1TB HD Maybe it really is the ryzen 5600x and it is broke somehow? Also not sure the b550 board actually supports the ryzen 2600. Could the B450 bios remove 2600 support? It is the 2-1-21 version. I am having a terrible time troubleshooting and want to take back the b550 board if that's the issue..

I tried to install my dark rock pro and when I got done my computer wouldn't boot. Stuck on first dbug led. Everything seems to get power like mouse and keyboard and case/cpu fans. Anyone know why this might be? It was kind of a rough install cus I installed it in the motherboard already in the case. Maybe I hurt the motherboard somehow? For context it's a 5600x in a b450 tomahawk

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but stock may be 1.34+ periodically but will sit lower generally. I think stock boosting doesn't work all that great also. This is different than speeds you'd get while overclock ff you set a constant voltage of like 1.3V or so it can probably reach a static speed of anywhere from 3.8 to 4 ghz

I bent pin doesn't mean it's broken. There were probably 15ish bent pins and all the others were bent back easily

I decided it was a good idea to buy a ryzen 3400g with bent pins because I am cheap and thought I could fix it. I was able to un-bend all the pins, but in the process two pins fell off and it will not boot sadly. I know some people solder extra pins on, which is an option I guess. Based on the diagram from the diagram I posted below it is a VSS pin and MB_Data(26). Not sure if those are important, if anyone knows if they can or cannot boot with those let me know. I recently went from an rx570 to a gtx 1660. Around the time of the change I started getting this issue when I try to boot the power button only works like 1 in 15 times or worse. Once it does boot there are no issues and everything works great. The aio will make some noise like its starting/light up and the gpu fans will spin, but it wont start the pc. Also when this happens the computer boots to the secondary monitor and requires a restart to get my dual monitors back. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I check the front panel cables and they looked all plugged in. Also sometimes if I unplug my front usb cables the computer sometimes boots. I even got a seperate power switch and tried this and it has the same issue. I was also thinking the house may have trouble powering the PC? Its an old house with poor wiring, the microwave makes the lights flicker lol Components are: msi b450 itx (bought new this year), sg-13, evga supernova 450 gm (bought amazon warehouse), corsair lpx ram 3200 2x8 (bought used), corsair h60 aio (bought new this year) , and msi gaming x 1660 (bought used)

Is anyone familiar with a small ITX case to use for like an HTPC that can fit an sfx power supply and a 120mm aio? Not looking for gpu support and the smaller the better. Looking for smaller than a sg-13

If you could get a $20 tower cooler I would recommend it over stock. My first build was a nightmare, but it had a lot to do with the cheapo case and not screwing in the cooler one turn at a time like the guy said above. front io cables are annoying, but easily googlable/ in your manual. P400a is a dream to build in compared to cheaper cases

This may not be the concensous but I bought a 1660 gaming x used for 180 and overClocked it pretty good.

Hey guys, just got my 1660 gaming x overclocked to +155 core and +818 on the memory and got a unigen heaven score of 1930 in 1440p. Does this look good?
