  1. Running an ethernet cable down is not that easy just due to where the modem/cable boxes are located in the living room as it is not directly over the basement. The basement is not a full basement but rather a half basement. The only option would be to try and pull one of the coax cables through with an ethernet on the other end. Not sure that would even work. I tried this a while back when I got the nighthawk and came up short and when I tried looking up the model number I found nothing and optimum are awful to deal with. The speeds in the upstairs office on wifi using the optimum router were 30mb down. On the netgear it is 350mb down. They are only like 3 feet apart. The same happens in the basement give or take a few mbs. The nighthawk can handle the entire house on its own with speeds above 300mbs everywhere. It is just trying to figure out how I can maybe utilize the coax running to the basement from the closet in the basement if possible to hard wire my pc.
  2. Hey all, I am looking for some advice on how to run my network. I moved into my house about two years ago and I am not happy with my current setup. Currently there is a coax cable coming into the basement and split into two cables up to the living room. I have an optimum modem/router combo in the living room on the ground floor connected up to a Netgear nighthawk router. This was done as the wifi speeds using the optimum router were awful and greatly sped up with the nighthawk. I did try to use a motorola mb8600 modem instead of the optimum modem/router combo but couldn't get it work despite hours on the phone with optimum to try and get it registered. The optimum modem/router is fed by one coax cable from the basement and a second coax from the basement feeds the tv also on the ground floor, they are next to each other. The cable box is connected to the router via a ethernet cable for an internet connection. Right now my pc is in the basement and connected via wifi. I have a coax running into the basement which is not being utilized from the same closet as the other coax cables. I am wondering is there a better way to run this setup as this seems inefficient and I want to have my pc hard wired in the basement, have the tv connected to both coax and internet on the ground floor and have wifi throughout the house from basement to second floor where we have a home office. Any help is appreciated.
  3. Apologies, I meant the corsair drive not samsung. I was confusing myself. Windows is on the corsair drive and the crucial is my game drive.
  4. So I have two M.2 SSDs. I have installed windows on the samsung drive and then used the crucial as a game drive. I have not done it the opposite way yet. I may over the weekend. I have tried installing the drivers on both drives one at a time using DDU and still crashing.
  5. I did already try that as I had a Seasonic GS650 in the pc when all this started. That was my first thought so I got a new Corsair RM850x and the problem persists.
  6. Do you think the SSD needs replacing or is this something that could be fixed in software?
  7. No I had not been. I found the attached under the admin section. There are a lot of dish errors showing up. Also the surprise removal error is weird as all I did was turn my pc on.
  8. Hey all, I am trying to diagnose a few annoying issues with my pc I have been having. A few weeks ago I started getting crashes where my GPU driver would time out in games. It had no rhyme or reason to it other than it happened in games. This went on for few weeks and got worse and worse even with fresh windows installs. BF 2042 was unplayable. This continued until driver 21.10.02 came out which helped but now it BFV crashes to desktop without any warnings, notifications or otherwise. It is as if I pressed ALT F4. Today my crucial SSD never showed up when I started windows. I had to restart windows for it to show up again. So I am wondering could all these issues be linked to something like a motherboard issue or a SSD issue. Any ideas on how to diagnose this would be appreciated as its driving me nuts. 9. AMD dropped a new driver 21.10.2 yesterday. I have been in contact with their support and they recommended the driver. I installed it after uninstalling the old driver and using DDU as normal. The new driver worked better on some games but worse on others. I also had this weird thing happen when I uninstalled the driver before going into safe mode the screen went black for a good 5 mins and I had to reset my pc from the case to get a display again. Any thoughts on this? Could it be something else like the MB or SSD?
  10. All games crash to desktop or hang and I need to use task manager to close the game when this happens. It has never recovered for me. Only like one has my pc hung to the point I needed to restart it. The radeon software crashes and restarts everytime. The gpu is set to default settings within the radeon software. I was using a custom fan profile to be more aggressive but that didn't work either. I might try undervolting the gpu next. Yes it occurs on 21.8.2 and even older drivers like 21.6 and 21.4
  11. When I installed windows it was off USB which I created today using Windows media creation tool. I deleted the partition on my boot drive. Reinstalled windows, downloaded the latest GPU driver and installed. I have tried DDU yesterday and it still had issues hence the fresh install. I have since installed a new Corsair 850w PSU to see if it was that. Using independent cables for the PCIE not daisy chain and it still timed out. I am now thinking its the GPU but I cannot be certain. I will see if I can find a gpu stress test. Edit: I got this error just now with a driver timeout.
  12. I do not but I can ask around to see if a friend might have. I have tried the older drivers that used to work but no go either so I am thinking either PSU and GPU.
  13. I am running independent PCIE power cables from the PSU. I removed and replugged in the cables and no go. I even tried the other PCIE slot on my MB and no go. I was thinking it might be my PSU but it was working for a few months with no issues and it happens even in games that require no power.
  14. Hey All, I am having a bit of a nightmare recently with my system and the AMD driver timing out. This is the message I get. This occurs in every game from cookie clicker on steam to Battlefield 2042. It can be 30 seconds into a game or 20 mins in. I have been keeping an eye on my system and the GPU never goes above 70C. It is not overclocked just more aggressive fan profile. I am running resize bar. I have reinstalled windows twice and all drivers including old versions of adrenaline. I am currently on a fresh install of windows fully up to date and it is still happening. This only occurred maybe 3 weeks ago and has only gotten worse. I have posted my system specs below but if you could give me any advice I would really appreciate it. I have owned this system for over a year now previously with a 5700xt with no issues. I have tried everything I could think of and I am coming up short. There seems to be no info on google other than make sure windows is up to date. 15. Thanks everyone for all the advice. One other question is with Thanks giving and black Friday a few weeks away is it worth waiting for the sales or is it traditionally not worth waiting for? I've not experienced US sales on pc parts before so just want advice so I don't waste money when I could easily wait a few weeks.
