  1. Yeah I forgot to mention I've done that, my fans are running on low noise adapters. For a normal/regular PC user my PC is would be probably noiseless but I'm a perfectionist. I'm considering buying these aforementioned cases but so far I'm exploring different possibilities. Thanks for input tho.
  2. I know it's not, I got it simply because I loved how it looks But now I feel like getting more "mature" case. That Define R5 seems nice but it's quite expensive, so is Nzxt H440 (~140 US $) (at least here in Poland, where I live) . I was thinking about Zalman R1 but I bet it's not as quiet as Define R5. Maybe you could recommend some budget silent case? Thanks for suggestion though, I might eventually man up and buy one of these cases.
  3. Hey all, I'm planning a project of making my PC as silent as possible. I've already have Noctua fans, pretty quiet gpu (msi 970) but I'm not 100% satisfied. The main problem is that my case is inside my desk (see attached file). I have two ideas how to accomplish my goal: 1) apply bitumen mat on the inside walls of my case. However, I've read that the bitumen mat can start melting in higher temperatures. 2) apply bitumen mat on the inside wall of the case hole in my desk. I'm not well versed how acoustics works, but I think it would do the trick. I'd like your opinion on the matter, maybe some suggestions, ideas etc. Lastly, the bulletproof idea is getting a new, silent case, but that seems too easy Anyways, thanks in advance.
  4. @captain_WD I'm pretty sure I've check the mounting but it wont hurt checking it again. The one thing I don't understand is why the disc gets noisy when I play something (it gets loud only when playing games, rendering and other types of activity doesn't cause the noise)
  5. Hey, I've been having a weird problem with my drive and I'm unable to solve it myself so I'd like to ask for help. The problem is as follows. The drive is 1TB WDC 10EZEX HDD. It used to be split into two partitions:one for windows and the other for games. The drive was loud from the start but I thought it's because of those two partitions and the needle was jumping to different sides of the plates. Recently I've finally get my first SSD drive, and while the improvement in speed is tremendous, the annoying sound of the drive persists. I thought that some files, cache, etc. was still used by the Windows for some reason, so I moved data from the HDD and formatted it. Unfortunately the noise is still there. I'm sure it's the disc's noise because when I disable it in Device Manager, there's no noise. Additionally, the noise starts when I'm playing games, even not demanding ones. According resource monitor and Drives Meter (W7 gadget) disc is idle, no transfer whatsoever. Usage is at 0% as well. What could be the cause of such a unusual behavior?
  6. I'm from Poland and my budget is about 600 zl, ideally, but I could spend some more (600 zl ~ 143 € / 200 $ / 118 £). Well I've checked in depth reviews of these 3 monitors (the tables are from that site - hardware.info). I'm like 70% sure to buy Benq GW2450HM because it has the best brightness uniformity, less ghosting and best contrast (at least according to these reviews). But maybe someone knows a better monitor for that price (I saw it for 570 zl ~ 136 € / 184 € / 113 £).
  7. Hello good people of linustechtips. I'm planning to finally upgrade from my old old TN panel (Samsung 940N) but as most gamers and pc enthusiasts I'm completely lost which panel should I pick. I've done some research but that's all on the paper. Checking out monitors in stores did not work as well, because they didn't even specify panels and most monitors were off, only the top tier TV's were displaying something. So far I've been comparing 3 monitors I've read some good reviews: 1) BENQ GW2450HM 2) IIYAMA ProLite XB2483HSU-B1 3) LG Flatron 23EA63V-P I am worried mostly about response time. Since I don't have any comparison I don't know if it be worse than my old TN. My Samsung has 8ms GTG response time and all of these seems to have less than that. I'd want a monitor which would be decent at most things, because I'm neither a hardcore gamer (though I do play mostly FPS like Planetside 2), but I'd also want some great quality imagine, because I'm amateur photographer and graphic designer. I've read that VA panels has the best colour and contrast which I think is also helpful in games, especially when it's dark. (from hardware.info)
  8. "(0A) Spin Retry Count" is highlighted in yellow. And has following values: Current 100 Worst 100 Threshold 97 Data 15
  9. 1. I back up only files important files, like savegames, documents and so on 2. It makes this sound only in games from what I've noticed (and even not all, e.g. it does in Battlefield 3 but it doesn't in Skyrim and they are on the same disk) 3. Its like 90% full overall, it has 4 partitions About 5 years probably maybe 4.
  10. Not at all. Last time I had was like couple months ago, but it was causes by old modem drivers.
  11. Hey guys, recently my HDD started to make some noise (samples attached). Should I worry about it? I've read that clicking noise indicated that HDD dies or is dead but everything works (so far). It only starts to get noisy when its under load like e.g. in a game. I'm sorry that the sound is so quiet but my phone records in .amr and when I converted it to mp3 its quieter for some reason (couldn't attach the amr file, says I can't upload such a format). If its too quiet I'll try to figure out a way to record with something different. Thanks in advance. HDDsound.mp3
  12. My mobo is basically brand new, maybe about one month. The PSU is 500W OCZ ModXStream. As for drivers I do have two unknown devices, one of which is usb controller, but I can't install any driver. I'll try uninstalling them. edit: These unknown devices turned out to be not installed USB 3.0 drivers. I'll keep using the spare mouse and see if the problem occurs again.
  13. Hello everyone. I have weird issue with my PC (as usual). Both my mouse and keyboard stops working at random. The LED on keyboard is still on, however I can't turn on caps, numlock, scroll-lock. The mouse is completely off. They both work on my laptop when I plug them. Next thing is that they don't work in BIOS. They only turn on when windows is loading. The keyboard works in BIOS only if I plug it via P/S2 connector, but I can't enter the BIOS options using del (I have no idea why). I've also noticed that when I unplug my graphics card from PSU and plug monitor to my onboard GPU, the keyboard works in BIOS while connected via USB. I had problem with my mouse before, it disconnected randomly but not the keyboard. Can the mouse be the culprit?
  14. I like 720p but I don't see any difference between 720p and 1080p on my 1280x1024 monitor. On top of that my internet can't handle 1080p (I'd have to wait like 2 minutes to buffer 30 seconds or even less). 720p buffers not right away but I dont have to wait as long. In peak hours tho, even the 240p doesn't work for me.
  15. Thanks for all the feedback guys. By the way, should I reinstall windows once I get new cpu + mobo?
