That happens when a program is uninstalled but does not remove all of its shortcuts. You have nothing to worry about

datalaughing reacted to jaslion in Starter HomeLab + gaming server build
    So this is A LOT

    You want:
    A nas
    A productivity machine
    A gaming machine
    A remote workstation
    A game server
    A Proxmoxbox
    A machine learning box
    A ....

All is possible EXCEPT gaming machine as anti cheat blocks vms.

So basically remove the gaming machine here and just get like a johnsbo n1 and put it on a rack shelf  or rack nas case with a ryzen 5600g. Plenty for all those usecases part from gaming and machine learning

Or a used hp dell whatever micro server with hdd bay attachment case.

Then make yourself a nice gaming machine/workstation and steam in home stream to your tv or parsec or whatever you please.

The first step of a homelab is knowing when to split your hardware. In this case all the servery nassy bits go in the homelab and all the powercrunching bits become a normal computer at your desk and just get a 13600k there.

    Few things.
Red text of the blue background is hard on the eyes The green radioactive sludge and barrel is not e-waste Lots of unused space at the bottom Add another box that explains what e-waste is and why it's bad.

Nvidia Nvenc is a feature in Nvidia graphics cards that performs video encoding, offloading this compute-intensive task from the CPU to a dedicated part of the GPU. It helps with encoding streams and it accelerates applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.

datalaughing reacted to gloop in AYA NEO Smashes Crowdfunding Goals. Is this the future of PC gaming?
I don’t want to play PC games on a screen the rough size of a Switch. I want to play them on my 28” monitor, with my mechanical keyboard and high-quality mouse. I don’t want to have to hold it anytime I play.

it’s literally going against the standards of PC gaming, and is probably going to die within a year.

Seems like you wanna bitch about what's generally a non-issue by pulling numbers out of your ass.
Dell most likely has half-decent, if not locked-down motherboards powering that i7, for example. Dell's not that stupid. That's reserved for HP.
You also aren't getting a legally licensed copy of Windows 10 for less than $100 if we're talking retail - which, unless you want to go down the volume licensor route, I will talk retail.
Power supply is definitely going to be one of decent quality. Dell's not known for wanting to skimp on that shit.

Of course, that's not exactly totaling out to a custom PC, but at the same time, it's one that comes with a warranty, actual support and a simple out-of-the-box experience. Businesses gotta make money. They don't barely scrape what they can get.

    Yes
If you put the bottle neck on the GPU (such as running at a higher resolution and down sampling) You may end up with a smother experience.

🤷 Guess there's 50,000 people happy with their purchase. It's a luxury item. It's not a necessity of life. Some can afford to spend like that of they really want something, most can't.

I don't get it either. If it's for hardware availability, then it's irrelevant since when miners don't buy them, scalpers now do ... I get it sucks, but it's really a supply issue. And during a global pandemic it kinda makes sense that there would be logistical issues. Not sure why people expect everything to run smoothly.
