Letgomyleghoe reacted to Fasauceome in look at the poll
Such a large difference between these processors, the i7 costs a lot more and has 2 extra cores, plus faster single core speed.
But "which is better" shouldn't be the main consideration. If buying the 3600 saves you money enough to get a better graphics card, the 3600 is a better choice.

Letgomyleghoe got a reaction from Euchre in look at the poll
11700 is better than the 3600 for gaming.
but 11700 is worse than the 5600 for gaming.

Amount of motherboards that dont come with ethernet is VERY limited. All you need is a ethernet cable (like a cat5/cat5e) with both ends terminated.

Letgomyleghoe reacted to WereCatf in Does overclocking memory increase GPU temps?
Are you talking about the GPU VRAM or your system RAM? If the first, does this also include raising voltages? If it doesn't include raising voltages, then no. If talking about the latter, it has nothing to do with your GPU at all.

Letgomyleghoe reacted to SorryBella in Looking for recommendations for comp builds budget is like 1000-1300 Canadian for everything but graphics card
Always list every PC parts you got right now before you make posts. That GPU is still banger and you wont need to upgrade it right in a jiffy unless you want DLSS 2.0 and playable RTX gameplay that bad (or if youre a competitive esports player)

Letgomyleghoe reacted to 8tg in How do I convince someone that i have the worst specs ever
step up your game
what you can enjoy out of a system must be within its limitations, a core2duo on its own isnt going to play minecraft
but you can play UT99, Halo 1, the Sims 1 and 2, oldschool runescape, conquer online, Empire Earth 1 and 2, AOE2, GTA Vice City, San Andreas and GTA 3, CS 1.6, Prison Architect, Hotline Miami 1 and 2, SWAT 3, Call of Duty 4...
And those are just games from my own personal experience.
Learn to work with what you have.
This Micron is rocking a 166mhz Pentium MMX, 64mb of ram, 2 megabytes of video memory, and a 1.2gb hard drive host to Windows 98.
This machine isnt inherently bad because it cant play Minecraft. This machine can play DOOM 1 and 2, Duke Nukem 3D, SimCity and 2000, Roller Coaster Tycoon and Need for Speed II.
And thats still pretty damn fun within the limitations of it.

Letgomyleghoe reacted to Tieox in How do I convince someone that i have the worst specs ever
I still regularly maintain a Core2Duo Dell OptiPlex that struggles to run XP with it's aging HDD that reads in solar cycles. And a few peeps still rocking Intel Atom devices that ponder why updates take so long.

$30 SSD and lightweight Linux distro goes a loooooong way on older hardware like this.

Letgomyleghoe reacted to Vishera in 2TB sabrent Rocket no longer detected in bios, RMA refused for silly reasons after scrutinizing my hardware
Go to the store you bought it from and have them handle the RMA for you.
Or
File a complaint to your local Consumer Protection Agency.

Letgomyleghoe reacted to SorryBella in What is this?
Oh whoever that peeled the damn identification sticker on the back, may his soul is blessed in hell.
Anyway, from how it looks, its possibly a 750Ti or an RX560 of some sort. You should use the rig you found to open up an identification software like HWinfo or GPU-Z.

Letgomyleghoe reacted to dizmo in I’m looking for a fairly specific type of desk
You can get literally anything and wrap the top to get that effect. Ikea also makes several tabletops that match that style, if you're close to one of them.

I mean you could buy a Tunderbolt add-in card and just not use the normal usb ports
many thunderbolt cards have a DP in connection so you can route the video output of your graphics card through the thunderbolt connection

Go tell him that, then
No one here knows what you should do to make your father spend his money for your entertainment
I can only say, tell him what's wrong, and if he doesn't understand, either give up or try again

Letgomyleghoe reacted to Helpful Tech Witch in I very stupidly pressed the flash bios button multiple times...
It is normal for a vga light to be on without a gpu.
Unless you pressed the flash bios button with a USB in your fine.
The thing circled in blue is the chipset heatsink, I doubt you broke it in any meaningful way.

Eh, I don't see a problem with it. Their store, their system, their choice.
If you don't like it, shop from a different retailer.
