help. slow raid 0 speeds with nvme drives
Valkyrie743 replied to Valkyrie743's topic in Storage Devices
well i found a PDF of my motherboards PCI lanes and the only lanes that go direct to the cpu are the first 2 PCI 16x slots. first slot is 16X. if second one is filled it will run as 8X 8X or 8X 4X im trying to find a PCI riser card that has slows for 2 nvme drives. so far i only found one and its 150 bucks. which i dont understand why being that you can get single nvme to pci 4x risers for cheap. figured i would find a riser card that has 2 nvme pci slots to pci 8X if i found one i could run the raid from there and not have the chipset bottleneck performance but i would have to run my 2080 Ti @ 8X not 16X. from what i've read its not really a big deal. at most i would drop 3% give or take performance from my gpu. -

why is raid that's built in the motherboard bad? i hear there is many issues with games when using storage spaces so i avoided using it -

Valkyrie743 replied to Valkyrie743's topic in Storage Devices
oh well that blows well i already had 1 of the drives and bought another for more game and adobe lightroom raw image storage. i wanted to have the drives show as 1 drive rather than 2 1tb drives and figured i would get free performance out of raid 0. -
hey all. i have a gigabyte z390 master board and 2 SK hynix Gold P31 1TB drives in raid 0 and im getting speeds the same as if i was just using one drive? is this a limitation with z390 or my motherboard? i would think i would be hitting 5gb read and write while in raid 0.

Doom Eternal: Nvidia RTX 3080 vs Overclocked RTX 2080 Ti Video
Valkyrie743 replied to Valkyrie743's topic in Graphics Cards
that my card ..... the left side of the video is the bench from nvidia. the right side is my 2080 ti. the video starts off showing a stock 2080 Ti then they switch to 3080 the bench nvidia shown does not show the cpu -
Nvidia dropped Doom Eternal trailer today (9/3/20) showing the FPS increase with a RTX 3080 vs an RTX 2080 Ti i found this interesting being that they didnt show what cpu they were using as well as the clock speeds of the 2080 Ti. i would guess it was stock. but judging by the CPU frame times in the graph, the cpu is either a stock 9900K or maybe lower. not sure. either way i thought that being i have my 2080 Ti overclocked i would play the same part of the trailer (its an in game rendered cutscene) near the end of the level Doom Hunter Base on the right you see my 2080 Ti which is clocked at 2100 mhz core and 1825 mhz memory (custom open loop temps never go past 44C) so clocks are rock solid stable. with a 9900K at 5ghz all core and ring overclock set to 4.7ghz memory is 32gb at 3200ghz the leap that they show is pretty massive imo and awesome to see but after seeing it compared to a overclocked 2080 Ti im shocked at how much difference there was compared to the what i guess is the stock 2080 Ti they were showing and whatever cpu they were running.

What happens when you have say 80% of the drive full and it starts chewing into the 25% used for SLC cacheing. How bad are the writes going to be. Because if I buy a 8tb drive but say i have a good chuck of it loaded with files does that mean that the drive is just going to tank in performance?

Looking to upgrade my very old router. Still using a gigabit wireless n netgear lol. WiFi speeds are horrid being that it’s an old n router and I tend to do file transfers from my home server with my laptop and I need a better router right now I was looking at the Netgear XR500. I wanted a router with the netduma firmware being I game a lot but also have good wireless. I was going to just get a WiFi 6 router but I currently don’t own any WiFi 6 devices and I don’t plan on getting any time soon but if it’s better off just going wifi 6 over this lmk what are your guys thoughts ?? If there is a better router out there lmk I have not really kept up what’s good
