The Quad Head version is still available, though more expensive it can still run in a 2x1 mode

If you can find one of these devices (discontinued since last year, so probably ebay and the like) it basically tricks your PC into displaying one double-wide screen, then splits it off into 2 separate monitors. The downside being that windows snap features will not respect the screen split.

I'm on the fence about this. Software that can make itself the default, is a security risk. But I feel MS reasons are not pure.

Given that it's only the more tech-savvy users installing 3rd party browsers, I don't think it's much of an issue.

Yep. And in my wife's car the following items no longer work due to garbage faulty cabling:

    Lane-assist
    Blind-spot monitoring
    Stabili-track
    DVD player
    Passenger Air Bag
    120v outlet

Stop acting like "the future of electronics" is fool-proof. If I wanted to fix all this, I would need to buy new wiring harnesses and parts AND THEN have to spend even more to have a dealership reprogram all the stupid OEM-locked-down parts. More electronics (at least in this context) = more bad.

It totally works, Absolute Thank You! (and yes, I have the MacOS Monterey background as the lock screen image, because I find it nice.)

Not trying to derail your build thread, BUT...

If you want to upgrade to Windows 11 (which sounds like the sole goal here) without spending any money, it's fairly easy to do. You can modify the installation ISO with a script or RUFUS to bypass those hardware checks. (I usually use the official ISO then modify it with this tool). I have done it on dozens of "unsupported" systems with no ill effect.

I haven't used Ryzen Master in a long time, but my experience is that it has always been very finicky. Having the correct version of both the program itself and chipset drivers is of utmost importance.

Yeah I pretty much don't benchmark any more, just play the games and look to see if performance is acceptable and close to what the actual benchmarking YT channels are seeing.

Unfortunately, it's just the nature of the beast. Whether or not it's a dumb policy is irrelevant since it's practically required to perform any sort of business anymore. Kind of like having a good credit score. It's a ridiculous game you have to play with banks and credit agencies, and yet it's near impossible to do business without it unless you have access to gobs a cash (and even then, you'll be questioned hard as to WHY you have gobs of cash).

Unofficial hack to enable it. I've also been looking at other bios hacks to enable ReBAR on systems that don't offer it. Seems like a lot of work for not a lot of difference, good and bad.
