Lord Gaben got a reaction from Elspeth in MSI bios help? UEFI+Legacy->UEFI
I am not completely sure if Windows 8.1 still can't read RAID arrays, so try it woth out loading the drivers, but if required at the partitioning step there should be an option and you just put in the DVD that came with the motherboard for the drivers when prompted, also I forgot to say remember to rewrite the partition table as GPT, to do that press Shift + F10 to open CMD, type in the following order
NOTE: "disk number" = e.g 0, 1 or 2
diskpart sel disk "disk number" convert gpt -

Lord Gaben got a reaction from Bird in New PC freeze (randomly?)
Try this
Update your motherboard's firmware Clear the CMOS
If that doesn't help I would try this
Install Windows 8.1, a few people are having issues with Windows 10
I would do this before declaring the GPU faulty

Lord Gaben reacted to AlwaysFSX in C++ vs C# (and others)
I know, and I can see the benefits of C++ AND the tradeoffs with it. At least for me. -
Lord Gaben reacted to EliasNM in How do I go back to Windows 7?!
Go to Update and Recovery then recovery, you should see an option to go back to Win7, now if you deleted the WIndows.old folder then you would have to do a clean install of Win7.

Most people I have seen are reporting Nvidia driver issues and poor game performance, you must be one of the lucky ones.

Lord Gaben got a reaction from Tedster in Windows 10 resolution problem
Are the monitor's resolution and refresh rate set right?
-
Lord Gaben reacted to Godlygamer23 in GPU help asap
It could be some form of malware, but it could also just be a case of the graphics driver freaking out.

Lord Gaben got a reaction from Beltboy in Hard drive never stops spinning - even on idle
Your Hard drive might be dieing; I had a HDD nearly die on me once, Before I sent the PC back to the OEM (Laptop, under warranty). For me the signs where constant HDD activity, slow and unresponsiveness and also it became quite loud when reading or writing

Lord Gaben got a reaction from RossMadness in Downgrading to Windows 7?
@John9786 @Trogdor8freebird
Sounds like it user error, I have been using Windows 8 since early 2013 and have found it more stable than Windows 7, I have only ever had 1 BSOD on this machine that was not related to overclocking, and even then it was buggy driver, not Windows.
As for the Application blocked from accessing graphics hardware, I would reinstall or update your graphics drivers, other than that repair games files in Steam or reinstall the game

Lord Gaben reacted to Volbet in How was your pc building experience?
When doing watercooling, I hate doing the leak tests. It takes forever.
In a more normal build, I hate doing cable managment.

Lord Gaben got a reaction from kristofk in Serious, complex PC problem (if you want some challange)
How is this not helpful, I am recommending an in-depth virus scan and if that does not resolve the issue a windows reinstall, the only reason I did not recommend using the Windows refresh feature is that I find the it often does not work and will fail.
Obviously if the virus scan fails to find the virus then the virus has taken control of the OS Kernel or is a really well hidden rootkit and the only to fix that is pretty much a restore or reinstall

Lord Gaben got a reaction from Snowcrab in Recurrent BSOD win 8.1 ntoskrnl tcpip driver irql not less
From the looks of it, It looks like a buggy network driver,
ntoskrnl.exe is the NT Kernel
tcpip.sys is the TCP/IP Driver
Remove any 3rd party networking management software on your system, that type of software commonly causes instabilities.
You could also try remove your networking drivers, as Windows will commonly download necessary tested drivers.
