  1. Thanks both. I honestly just saw the power on hours at 2 and thought there must have been some mistake! Guess not and it seems to be working fine, so I'm happy. I very much appreciate your help!
  2. Hi all, So I took a chance and bought a used SSD from a secondhand store in the UK as I had some credit with them. I've installed it in my desktop and run Crystal Disk Info, and I was surprised to find the score for the drive on CDI was Good 100% and the Power On Count was only 4, two of which are probably my own use. I had always thought that these figures would carry over from previous use so you can see the wear on the drive from the previous owner/system. Outputs in the attached images. I have since run a Crystal Disk Mark write that changed the Host Writes to 35GB so it looks functional enough. I'm not fully sure how drive health is evaluated so here's my question: Can the drive health stats be reset to 'new'? Should I be concerned that there's an error with the drive or have I just lucked out with my purchase? Thanks all.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions! Is Sabrent Rocket generally a good brand? I've never had experience with them before so went with the Crucial ssd.
  4. No the monitor is going to be on top of this, so far I've just been pricing up the tower itself. Just da vinci resolve so far for video.
  5. Planning my first ever build so I'd like some second opinions before I launch into purchasing. Seems Ryzen is the way to go and hoping not to have a huge box so going mATX. And yes, I realise people don't like optical drives, but i'm putting one in anyway. Build spec: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/MixolydianHitchhiker/saved/WNNDxr 1. Budget & Location Around £700 (UK) which currently does not include a monitor so it will need to be higher. I'd consider paying a bit more overall if it was really worth it. 2. Aim I'm looking to replace a MacBook Pro which currently does everything from music production to video editing, virtualisation and (limited...) gaming. Not entirely sure I would be overclocking straight out of the box (other than XMP) but likely to consider that in the future. Priorities: 1. Music production workstation (DAWs and engraving software) 2. Gaming (I haven't really wanted to play major titles or shooters but then again I've never had a machine capable of it... yeah...) 3. Video editing (minor usage at present) 3. Monitors Currently thinking single monitor at 1080p. 60hz or higher would be ideal but not too fussed. Could integrate a second pivot monitor for workstation use in the future. 4. Peripherals Yes, will need a monitor (as above). Will be purchasing aWindows key. 5. Why are you upgrading? Current MacBook Pro is showing signs of imminent hardware failure. Other technology changes and software compatibility issues mean I am no longer tied to the Apple ecosphere and would like the challenge of building a PC for sentimental reasons.
