  1. I am running an MSI B450-A PRO with RAM that is at 2933 though rated for 3000 and the voltage has settled at 1.35 V. there are no issues with this. BTW my R5 1600 CPU runs very smooth at 3.5 GHZ.
  2. another RGB device to consider, although once you've seen it you can't unsee it. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32963627744.html?gps-id=7590465&scm=1007.14677.110221.0&scm_id=1007.14677.110221.0&scm-url=1007.14677.110221.0&pvid=d879f7db-c127-4426-a2f0-f7ca03e5b1ac&spm=a2g1y.promotion-20181111.promoteRecommendProducts_7523029.37 my questions would revolve around the actual lighting levels and would they work well as a night light or not. As you can see entirely practical. I would also query as to how often the motion sensor would go off and exactly when. C'mon Linus, you KNOW you want it.
  3. Sorry but my information suggests that older circa 2008 intel based boards do indeed have issues occasionally with AMD v3 video cards. I see ASUS released a BIOS update for this board in 2010 that addressed this issue with Radeon 5850 cards. would talk over to ask the OP if the bios has ever been updated. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5ND/HelpDesk_BIOS/ The BIOS date is version 1301 dated April 22 2010 under 'show all'.
  4. If my research is correct you WILL need to replace the PSU as it seems to be a 265W monster. /s This link has good info and things to look out for which i can vouch for especially on Dell machines. https://www.dell.com/community/Desktops-General-Read-Only/Power-Supply-Upgrade-options-for-Optiplex-990-Mini-Tower/td-p/3706645 Good luck.
  5. Did you uninstall the old driver before installing the new one? I have seen that cause problems. DDU works well in this matter. (Display Driver Uninstaller) Simple Google will fetch it. In the area of overlooked things, I once forgot to plug in the 6 or was it 8 pin power plug. [red face]
  6. I have an MSI R7 360 similar to yours and have run it on a 475W HEC PSU for 2+ years with no issues. I know no great shakes but it works. Which version of both driver and Windows are you running? I see that your reported board supports PCI-e v2.0 and the 360 is V3.0 so this may be a board level or driver issue. IIRC some chipsets simply won't work with higher level PCI-e. I suspect yours has such an issue. BTW the last version of driver for this chipset dates from 2011 and supports Windows 7 as per this: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/30589/en-us If you are running W10n then you might be able to force this driver to install and it might work for you. The Vista driver of a similar vintage might also work. Good luck.
  7. RAM coolers like this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32750671016.html?spm=a2g0o.tm29272.2450638160.6.58dc2c4a94ca2P&&scm=1007.25281.132557.0&scm_id=1007.25281.132557.0&scm-url=1007.25281.132557.0&pvid=2f27b3a4-6a4f-4ee6-af40-403ed50e4ddd Do they work? Chipset coolers like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32432346031.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000015.1.625d780f48IjKK&scm=1007.14452.146114.0&scm_id=1007.14452.146114.0&scm-url=1007.14452.146114.0&pvid=41c9ddbc-48d6-4d67-b16e-aa67ea4d08f5&s=p Yes both are a bit sketchy but lolz. I realize the RAM cooler will block out RGB 'goodness' for some but it should peek a bit here and there.. The chipset cooler looks beefy enough to cool an X570. I hope.
