  1. Current Functionality: My swimming pool wireless controller can only be "seen" while I'm on my local WIFI network (accessed from an App on my phone) -- the controller does not show up while outside the local network. Desired goal: Use the built in VPN (wireguard) on my Asus ET12 Pro router to have my phone access the local network while abroad, and then access the local adapter for the pool and heat up my "first world problems" (hot tub) The idea here is if the VPN is configured to allow me to access the local network then I should be able to access devices as if I was physically there (I.e the controller should pop up in the app because I'm technically on the local network). I'm sure there are a plethora of other ways to accomplish what I'm trying to do... this seemed like the most straight forward This post lacks any technical detail about the controller or what I've attempted, I'm just making sure the theory of what I want to accomplish makes sense. I can't find any support page that lists specifically what I'd need to do in order to see local devices on the network while connected to the routers VPN.
  2. I need some tech tips I have three OnHub routers that I'm running in a Mesh configuration (with a wired backhaul to each router to deal with latency) They work great and are easy to manage for my purposes. (I currently have no need for super advanced features) - I consider my self tech literate verging on savvy, but by no means a networking expert A couple of points I would need help with 1.) I like G Wi-Fi software because I'm lazy and its an affordable option that's easy to manage (I got this mesh system set up for less than $200) -- Am I being blind to another option that's just as affordable and easy to use(similar capabilities)? 2.) The hardware in the Asus OnHub still seems relevant and powerful and looks like it can compete with Googles other wifi products -- Is it a downgrade using a nest wifi product? 3.) is it possible to put DD-WRT on these things or something so i can reduce E-waste and continue to limp this system along until a better/affordable solution comes along? 4.) looking for some tech tips I don't have to make a change for a little while and I'm looking at getting into Wi-FI 6 options later this year if I really do have to replace my networking hardware (Wi-Fi 6E would seem like overkill) - Thanks peeps
  3. Ah, ok I suppose that makes sense. On another note, you have a G14 with a 2080 and a 4900HS? Where can I find this unicorn?? All I can find in my searches is just the 2060 Max-Q
  4. I would really like to see if the 8GB of on board memory could be de-soldered and replaced with a bigger module (to get more than just 16gb of dual channel memory) I ask this out of complete curiosity, so don't take it as something I would actually want to do. Linus usually does cool experiments and it would be great to have him try it. Or I could be completely off and this is a completely idiotic request (highly likely) But still...very curious --oh and I do plan to buy a G14 because I'll be deploying soon and a small light gaming laptop would be great and it's nice to know my upgrade options in the future
