  1. My friend Bought some ram from my store the other day (Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x16GB 3200MHz) He was putting it into a Ryzen 2700X System build on an Asus ROG X470-F Gaming Motherboard and was getting critical memory errors with windows 10. I got him to run a Memtest (4 passes) and there were 0 errors. He swears he didn't change anything in the bios after i installed the ram and left him with the machine. I had him reinstall it in A1-B1 instead of A2-B2 and had him take out the Cmos battery (to reset the bios settings) Is there anything that anyone knows of that might have caused this issue other than an unstable overclock ? (I did show him how to enable "XMP" but it seemed stable when i tested it) If people need any extra information. I will be around the Desktop Later today to provide. ?
  2. Was gonna say when the machine is starting you can press Shift + F8 and generally that will work. Watch the video posted by @Princess Luna
  3. Honestly the best way to make sure would be to buy a PSU with a higher Wattage rating, then test it in your rig, or have a local computer company do testing on the power supply for you. there are some power consumption calculators you could use but i wouldn't trust them totally, im not sure why 550 wouldn't be enough but weird things happen in tech
  4. From what you said i would assume its more a hardware issue, maybe there is an overheat somewhere, or its possible you dont have enough Watts with your power supply (now that i think about it this seems the most plausible)
  5. its hard for me to recommend a gaming laptop that has a decent battery life, because most just Don't. Especially when you are putting it through the paces. I wouldnt discredit AMD, they have a very efficient Chip out now, if you are looking for battery life you might want to consider what @Fasauceome Mentioned
  6. I agree with you Ryzen is much better, but in benchmarks ive seen, the 9600k is a solid gaming chip, and thats where it ends really. The 3600 is more viable to a variety of different tasks as well as having a better set of features and the higher Core/Thread count is much more appealing to me (I have an AMD build) I was just playing devils advocate in the fact that if someone didn't give a crap about value and wanted the best gaming performance at that price point (if 4% meant anything to anyone) that the 9600K is good for those people. that said i wasnt aware that B450's were shipping with the new bios, i bought an Asus Prime X470 for my build and i still needed to flash... thought it was the same with all boards. my bad
  7. I dont know about that, in terms of gaming performance the 9600K still has AMD Beat with its gaming performance, but you get more stability with Ryzen due to its larger thread count, with games using them more effectively, if your looking apples to apples in gaming alone Intel has the better performing CPU on paper. Also id like to mention if you go with Zen 2 there will be some bios flashing that needs to happen with any board that isn't an X570... Keep that in mind when purchasing a motherboard for Ryzen, if its within your budget, look to get one with USB Flashback as a feature, it makes the whole process pretty simple as you dont need to either purchase an older Ryzen CPU or deal with AMD to get a Cheapie to do it (this includes waiting for shipping from them, and it needs to be returned) Edit : If you quote people, they will respond sooner as they get a notification
  8. In my opinion, if you wanted to do an upgrade, get a 2060 S - 2070 S or even a 5700/ 5700XT instead and get a processor that can better compliment the slightly slower GPU. Its best to have a well balanced machine then to have an insane top of the line GPU and a 3 year old CPU, bottlenecks are bound to happen.
  9. To me it looks fine, not sure about the power supply or the AIO, those two are brands that I didn't know existed till today. The ram is a bit slow. But over all i would suggest not going for a Pre built machine so that you know what parts or brands you are getting, and you can budget out the best pieces for your price range.
  10. If your motherboard has usb flashback as a feature then its a simple feat, just plug the 24pin from your power supply into your motherboard and use the USB flashback supported USB port on the motherboard. Make sure you refer to the manual here for the proper port and procedure. If not you need a CPU that will fit and you can complete the bios flash with the older chip, Im pretty sure Ryzen will send you a temp chip to do the flash and send it back to them, but Im not totally sure, that would be something to ask their support (With proof of purchase)
  11. I assume you probably have the windows game bar inactive ? and do you run Discord in the background, sometimes it can cause problems with LOL to fix that all you would need to do is make sure league is disabled on discord. ive seen some crazy stuff happen with windows, PC's and LOL. My buddy's laptop keyboard would randomly stop working only when playing league, he needed to update his drivers and firmware/bios for it to start working again. If you dont have any problems with other games then its most likely some software incompatibility
  12. VA panels aren't inherently bad in light, it was just something i thought i should mention, 250Nit is slightly dim, but the viewing angle and general all round performance of a VA panel with colour accuracy as well as speed is what i wanted to highlight. I am sorry if i gave the wrong information, VA is your All rounder panel. Edit : Theres a great video i think you should check out on YouTube from hardware Unboxed, where they talk more in depth about the difference between the 3 main panel's and what they should be used for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BM0P7J1EPM
  13. For the future its always good practice when upgrading a machine to backup your drive with the old stuff before doing the upgrade, windows likes to quote on quote lock when registered to a set of components, even if its a transferable Retail Version of windows, and not an OEI or OEM version, couldnt tell you why. I changed a CPU out and learned this the hard way as well best to do a usb load and see how it goes as mentioned by @SnowWolf370
  14. I wanted to mention as well, after seeing your conversation with @SolarNova its a 250Nit brightness, and a VA panel happy hunting for monitors, ill follow this post and keep my eyes out for anything particularly outstanding to share with you.
  15. I would suggest looking at an MSI Optix Branded Display, MAG27C a 1080p 144Hz 27' curved monitor at a pretty appealing price, one caveat is i cant seem to get the drivers for the OSD installed on that specific model, making its customization limited. Other than that its a great display, i can tell you that once you get to 1ms display you will definitely feel snappier when it comes to competitive gaming.
