I think they should also add a version number so if updates or changes happen its clearly tracked and known that a video from 1 yr ago fits in with v1.0 SOP and a video from today for example is from v1.1 if it was updated.
That way if the standards get updated in time assuming they do people can look back at older videos and know it may not meet the newer standard of the SOP.
Could help cut down on people applying the wrong version of SOP to videos if in a year things change.

Google form sounds reasonable. There are ways I have personally used, to dynamically pre-fill Google forms. This could pre-fill the video URL. It's a simple modification of the form URL. When a video is uploaded, just grab the URL and paste it within the form submission URL. Limit form responses to 1 time per user, with a daily reset of the users' submission count.

I think it's time to move on now. Not because of the apologetic video, as nobody can really trust its sincerity, particularly given Linus' original response. It's damage control - which is understandable, of course.

But LTT has suffered enough and Linus personally needed - and received - a pie in his face to show some humility. Reputational damage will last for a while but it's still up to them to improve and shake it off down the road.

    Financially it's a gigantic hit.

Lost Floatplane subs can cost them as much as $300k in revenue per year. But cutting down their publishing schedule will be an even bigger blow.

If they reduce output by just one video per week on the main LTT channel, they stand to lose at least $5-10k from Youtube alone, given that they get roughly 2 million views per clip + probably at least the same amount in lost sponsorship spots. So, that's $10-20k times 52 weeks - easily half a million to a million bucks, depending on how specific videos perform (some, as we know, made them tens of thousands of dollars from YT alone).

And that is, let me reiterate, just one video less per week. What about other channels? Surely they bring in much less per clip, but it adds up.

It's enough, it's not like they poisoned a local water supply, after all.

    Because venting is therapeutic.
Everyone here seems to be American-as-fuck jumping straight to legal help.

What's legal going to do? What kind of evidence could you possibly gather for all of these verbal issues?
What kind of defense can Madison get compared to LMG's massive wallets. Not to mentioning re-living the trauma by having to go through the entire process of thoroughly going through everything. And of course the LMG fanboys are going to TORMENT her through the whole process. It's lose-lose-lose.

people where offered a FULL REFUND... so your statement is just a blatant lie... did your Lord Linus send you? yes they were also able to get a correction sent out but they could return it and get a full refund... guess you weren't paying attention... and later on the 2. sort mats were sold with a disclaimer + corrections for I believe a lowered price as well...

can't send out a new mat if none exist... but getting your money back is 100% fair... then you can order when the next (correct) batch comes in stock...

It does not mean that this should not be investigated, i just think that personal cases without facts are impossible to fix, i kinda liked Madison, the few videos she was in she seemed natural, way more than many put on camera. shame it did not work.

If there is ANY thing that points to what she says is right, then there needs to be a proper investigation... but companies are good at hiding these things, look at that game studio blowup with suicide and shit, how far it got, before they began to actually investigate, and in the end, did anyone really get punished.. yeah they sold it to Microsoft, for a bunch of money, and got rich.

HR´s and Leaders are close, those are never for the employees, that is a learning you do early in life. HOPEFULLY the solution to this can be open dialogue about good working places maybe even on workplace rating sites, so people can make a logical choice, so if places are really bad, then YES they will just not get high competence employees because they can choose between jobs.

Says they are going to slow down and fix the issues that caused the initial criticisms... Continued to rush the video, willfully or ignorantly monetized an apology video, then failed to blur information from the company that they have already harmed that should have remained confidential but is now out in the public.

My point is as soon as an agreement was made between the two parties to return the item. Ownership returned to the original manufacturer and was no longer LMG’s to sell.

if they failed the screwdrivers badly, they would be holding onto over hundreds of thousands of dollars of scrapped waste.  Video is something LTT make cheapily at this point.

100 mil corpo and you are telling them that WE don't know how good we have it with them?!?!?
WE will be begging for them to come back?!!?
    This just screams pitiful.
I really was not aware how low the fanbase of LTT has fallen, I really was under the impression that people watching LTT can really think for themselves and be critical of people they often watch and enjoy. Boy was I wrong.

Cut with the crap, @LinusTech. Stop diverting and blaming others for mistakes you and your company made. If you're better than this show it.

Wait so what's it called when someone does a formal assessment of a product for the purpose of critical appraisal? There has to be a shorter name for that kind of content.

It's immaterial. An auction is a form of sale and it's contemptible to pretend there's a difference. Nobody seriously thinks the amount of money made would seriously benefit LMG's bottom line even if they kept the proceeds, but it wasn't theirs to dispose of and they exposed this small company to the loss of their IP. "Yes we basically kinda sorta stole this, but we didn't profit by it (except the profit we made from the video ahem ahem), charity did!" as if they're fucking Robin Hood or something?

Linus, I appreciate the honesty about you making a mistake. Though, my question here is, are you at least going to publicly address the situation on the WAN show, particularly the inaccuracy of your test results, even IF you don't mention Steve?

@LinusTech Most of us understand that this was a blindside, and good on you for standing up for your team.

Speaking directly about the data concerns, I do think it's important to take Steve's criticisms here heavily (and to an extent HU's). For the past 1-2 years, your videos have been enthusiastic and exciting for a lot of us in the prospect of Labs: a definitive place to find hard data to directly support the consumer.

If Labs is to match your vision, it won't be the amount you spend in equipment, but the surgical process in which you scrutinize and scrub your own findings. And this is all I'm (read: a single viewer) hoping you consider.

The errors in the videos are not a huge deal. You push a lot of videos, and mistakes in a high tempo environment will happen. Catching and correcting is the expected bare minimum, which you do. Reshooting really isn't feasible. Cutting content during final polish is a solution I would consider (such as GNs example with the Alienware build) where applicable.

I'm confident you'll take something from this and better your content and self from this. I've never been in this position so I have no idea what this must feel like. Looking forward to your next moves.

RE: Billet labs.  While auctioning things for charity is good.  In this case specifically I think its just as bad as if you had sold it on for profit.  Allegedly - You received something that wasn't yours legally speaking, and therefore had no rights to sell unless given permission, which you didnt.  Again, Allegedly.  Its still wrong even though the money went to a good cause.
