Yeah. You are going to find a fix where nobody in YEARS of hard and persistent trying did. Good luck. rofl (if you succeed every single gamer in the world will thank you... :p)  guys, seriously... every single thing you could try, will never work, because its already tried. But you will know this if you bothered to read, again, all the previous pages down to the first one.

No one found a solution because the gaming generation of DX11 that is the today generation, consider all these problems as "normal". Because they didnt experiment anything else. People like me, who played the generation pre-DX11 are the ones who actually see the difference between before and now, if you ask a 20 yeard old guy about all this, he will tell you "i dont have a clue what you talking about". And since every single youtube video really doesnt show any of this, because it needs to be uncompressed and all youtube videos are compressed, nobody can really see how bad some videogames look these days (and honestly youtube is the primary source of streamers and dumb gamers).

More than that, no one found a solution because people keep buying "AAA" games (whatever that means, since i will never consider a game AAA as long as all these problems are present..), people keep buying expensive videocards and screens, so they are telling the gaming industry that they are completely ok with all this. So, not a single company is willing to move a muscle to make an effort to fix this. Of course, not me, im smart and im done since time ago, my last mistake was to spend almost 400$ in a videocard six months ago. But not anymore. I only play pirated games since a few months back, and i dont plan to pay a dime for anything related to the videogaming industry anymore. Today i installed another game i did stop playing because of this called "american truck simulator" because i was curious about how bad was this problem since i left it, and it took me about 1 minute to uninstall it, again lol. The shimmering was so bad that its completely ridiculous people buy this game and there is a community that big, when the game is almost unplayable. Some companies are making efforts to try to fix all this or find a workaround, the guys who made this game arent, but again, the community of that game is so stupid, that they keep growing their arcs selling a videogame that is a shimmering slideshow. And like this case, many many others....

In the case of shimmering and bad aliasing, some games can be played if they have TAA or TXAA and you can use, for example some sharpen filter (like reshade or the nvidia thing) to improve the bluriness of the TAA. But thats about it. There is nothing that can be done about bad shadow casting, flickering, and other issues.

So again, i wish people were smart and will stop buying videogames , specially expensive ones (AAA) and expensive hardware. Thats the only way to "tell" companies that people is not ok about how bad videogames look these days. Sadly, as i said, the generation that drives videogame and gaming hardware sells is composed by a dumb young DX11 generation who consider shimmering, bad shadow casting, flickering, bad aliasing, bad LOD generation and other issues, completely normal for the days we live in. Go figure.

I tell you. I miss the decade 2000-2010 SO SO MUCH. When videogames looked amazing.

Light is a fundamental part of all graphic features, because obviously, without light, you dont see anything and not a single rendering effect is in place. The more reflecting is an object the worst the problem will be. In racing games, for example, driving at night, you cant notice basically any of these problems... but driving at day, when the sun is reflecting on fences, signs, etc... its a nightmare.

Also using HDR of course makes the problem even worst. Specially in games with old HDR features.

None of them. Dont waste 300$+ in a videocard. Not until companies fixes all those graphic problems on videogames. Its not worthy and absurd. And you will be doing what they want, again.

I think another problem with this is that many more gamers have this, they just don’t realize it. I noticed it on my friend’s Xbox and my cousin’s Xbox too (I live in Jersey), but they don’t recognize it as a problem. They think it’s normal. They don’t have sensitive eyes like we do. If more people realized that this is in fact NOT normal, we’d be able to get more help I think.

And you, are you for real ? Those problems started overnight for me, and there were no updates from microsoft or nvidia whatsoever, so stop bragging about them rigging this for gamers to buy expensive hardware, that's ridiculous. Even more ridiculous since it triggered these issues to people buying recent high end gfx and processors.

If he didn't read the last two pages, you didn't read squat from the first post. Nonsense...

d0L_0b you keep forgetting that this problem happens with or without antialiasing activated. Using antialiasing only makes things worst in some cases. In other cases, it helps, but then you have shimmering coming from the antialiasing... People keep talking like if this problem is AA related when obviously its not.

Btw, nvidia inspector doesnt work anymore (neither most of the nvidia control panel options)..... and if it does, only a few people had the luck to make it work.

I recently built a new pc, and this problem never bothered that much until now, i almost cant play any game. American truck simulator and euro truck simulator are almost unplayable because of shimmering, jagged shadows, and the impossibility to use any kind of antialiasing except FXAA... and nvidia inspector to force TAA doesnt work anymore, and i am not in the lucky ones bag. Shadow of the tomb raider is fairly decent, as long as you dont look at some shadows emitted from closer objects.. like the weapons on your back.... terrible, like if i was playing a videogame from 1990. Assasin's creed... shimmering and weird shadow issues all over the place....

I mean, they pretend us to spend so much money on expensive videocards, and then we cant even play properly? its ridiculous.

I keep revisiting this thread every now and then to see if someone actually has some valuable and veridic info about this problem, but im afraid that if companies like nvidia are making deaf ears to it, we could be living the last years of the videogaming industry at this rate...

Sorry guys but im really pissed. I see how companies keep abusing from customers and now apparently they reduced manufacturing costs (this problem goes back to 2013 or even before) to gain more money giving us cheaper products or whatever. So they can keep raising the prices of their products when those products are even worst quality than 4 years ago.

I really hope we have good news soon, in the meantime, the list of games that are still playable keeps getting shorter by the minute.

Sigh i miss so much the times of 2012-2013 when i could even play without antialiasing at all, and the game will look fairly decent and completely free of shimmering and broken shadows.

FXAA works on every single game, because it is just a shader. Probably you didnt know how to make it work. You can even use reshade to apply a FXAA filter. Problem is, it is a bad antialiasing method because as other cheap ones, what it does is to blurry the pixels, it doesnt apply an actual antialias algorithm. And again, we already know, after many many pages how to aliviate a little bit the problem, you didnt told us anything new, that "solution" you proposed was already mentioned pages and pages ago. At this point, we need a solution , not a "camuflage". Because in many games, the problem will be still too noticeable no matter what you do.

And again, nvidia inspector did stop working time ago, maybe you are so lucky it still works for you and DX11, but for the majority , it doesnt, unfortunately. But again, people dont care about antialiasing as long as the problem is still there even without it. Also remember that it is not only the shimmering, we have also jagged shadows for no reason or with terrible resolution, lod problems, flickering.... i wisht it was only the shimmering on the edges. At least we could rely on other things to aliviate the immersion.
