AMD have not beaten out nvidia in the high end in many, many generations. AMD has not done anything worthwhile for the high end in so very long, there is nothing to suggest this gen will be any different. They aren't playing to win and consumers can tell.

Ignore the people that do not know what they are talking about. Ram speed matters, but its impact is only really noticed in situations with high CPU overhead. This can happen even with the best CPU's. Depends on your hardware configuration AND the game itself. Playing with a very powerful GPU at a lower resolution requires the CPU to process more frames for the GPU, which ultimately causes the CPU to end up being the bottleneck. Faster memory has been proven to aid with this, with gains up to 20%. This kind of bottleneck can also be relieved by simply shifting the bottleneck from the CPU, to the GPU, by increasing the resolution or adding copious amounts of AA.

However, even with higher resolutions and AA being paired with your high end GPU, sometimes the CPU can still be the bottleneck, even with fewer frames to process. Some games just have specific parts that lag even the best CPU's, or perhaps had an area or specific code that could not be utilized by more cores (Amdahl's Law) and ultimately, it caused a dip in FPS. Faster memory also helps in this regard. No matter what, your frame rate will dip in situations like these, but faster ram will determine exactly how low it will dip. Going from 2133 to 2800 in DDR4 has improved minimum FPS dips by 15% in certain titles for me. Beyond that, I saw heavy diminishing returns (I still run my ram at 3600 C14-14-14-28-CR2). For DDR3, most people see deminishing returns at around 2133.

Ultimately, you need not worry about paying for faster ram. Memory overclocking is pretty easy if you are not aiming for very high overclocks (the ones beyond the diminishing returns i spoke of earlier) and every DDR4 kit I have ever seen is perfectly capable of hitting 3000mhz, even the weakest Micron IC's. If you have a Z platform, you can either save yourself the time and buy an XMP kit, or save yourself the money and buy a normal kit to OC. I'll gladly help you OC if you need it.

All that nonsense about "peak efficiency of a PSU" is worthless since all operate differently. What should be of importance is whether or not you should keep this PSU. Yes, there's no reason to get rid of it so why do that

Seeing now Intel's been doing things an I5 would last you quite a long time, although the I7 would last a couple years more than the I5. What we don't know is if Intel will get their shit together once AMD becomes competitive again and starts improving genereation to generation (which doesn't seem likely since they are focusing on power efficency and iGPU performance).

If you want your PC to last a long take the I7, it will be plenty powerfull; if you don't want to spend all that money, the I5 is a solid choice and should serve you well. If in the end you decide to wait to see what Zen's about, you might even find Kaby Lake to be a decent option depending on what they do.

I don't understand, if anything what they are doing IS passionate. They are delaying a VERY sought after keyboard because it's not up to their standards. What else do you want from a company? To send out crap just to make money?

High premium? 180$ for a Mechanical keyboard of corsairs quality plus with the new crazy ass backlighting is hardly a high premium cost. Hell if anything they could've easily charged 200$+.

It's less about when they started the hype train and more about them being silent. I'm fine with a delay but, they have to communicate that. You don't set a release date and then just be mute about it when that time has come, you have open lines of communication with your community and customers.

If they need to delay til Sept/Oct. etc. then fine but, they should be telling us that.

I personally don't mind waiting longer for the keyboard for what ever reason as long as it works when its actually released. However, the lack of communication from corsair of the delay after giving a time frame for the keyboards release is quite annoying.

I know me saying this might not make much of a difference, but I'll give my 2 cents anyway.

I know how you feel, OP. Some people like IPS because richer colours, others don't care and prefer a smoother image, that's fine. If, however, someone specifically says they want a 120+hz monitor for a specific reason, it irritates me when people will argue with them and say "eugh get an IPS causebettercolourseEUHGHHg". Just... Stop.

I just want to point out something stupid here... Everyone is talking about input lag. Yes, you probably won't notice the difference between 1ms and 5ms. It's not about that. 120+hz cuts out the majority of screen tearing and smooths out the overall image feed IF your graphics card is producing more than 60fps. If your graphics card produces less than 60fps and you're gaming on an IPS monitor with a refresh rate of 60hz or less, you won't see screen tearing.

I think the problem here is related to circlejerkery and fanboying. For example, I talk about getting a 350d in one of my posts (and I've seen this countless times in other threads), the response was basically "get an r4 because r4". I don't like r4's, I think they look ugly and are slightly impractical for what I want so stoptellingmetoGETITARRGH.

Anyway, I know how you feel OP. Get whatever the hell you want.
