Why I will buy a 3080 despite whatever AMD may have to offer?

I've got years of history on my side, not much of a hot take lol. -

AMD have not beaten out nvidia in the high end in many, many generations. AMD has not done anything worthwhile for the high end in so very long, there is nothing to suggest this gen will be any different. They aren't playing to win and consumers can tell. -
Which RTX 3000 brands do you expect will be good?
Scase replied to Delicieuxz's topic in Graphics Cards
Yeah estimates from benchmarks are showing the 3080 to be about 3-4x more efficient at etherium than a 2080Ti :s My 1080Ti has lasted me this long, and it could last longer but, I plan on playing Cyberpunk with all the bells and whistles but a 6700k and a 1080Ti aren't gonna be able to handle that. No way in hell i'm waiting on what ever half assed attempt AMD make with Big Navi. -

My primary concern on waiting is, with how limited the stock is at first, how long will it be before they are restocked. Couple that with the fact that the 3080's are apparently etherium mining machines I fear another potential shortage due to mining. I'm building a new rig with the new 4th gen Ryzens so if I wait on the card, by the time I can pick up the rest of the PC there likely won't be any 30xx cards, and the few there will be, will likely be WAY above MSRP. -

I think strix ones are pretty decent, at least for the part you should see in most configs. The backplate is nice. The side view isnt too bad but, you can just turn off the RGB if need be. A vertical mount is a different story, definitely a subjective ugly/cool scale lol. -

When you can just turn all the RGB stuff off most cards are just muted and black with a backplate. Some AIBs do have some absolute gaudy looking 30xx series cards coming out. EVGA FTW series looks incredibly childish. -
Yeah, I might end up having to go that route.

You're looking at the wrong one, look at the HOF version.

499$ and 699$ for 1080.
-
I guess, but 800$+ is a lot of faith to put in a stranger lol.

As the title implies, does anyone know where I can find one? I've checked online retailers and no luck, and they don't ship to Canada from their stores, any ideas?
-
Yeah PC hardware pricing in Canada is reaaaaally bad. in general prices are higher and when it comes to discounts/deals they aren't nearly as lucrative.
-
Sadly the difference in price is 142.99$ vs 86.99$

Honestly the aesthetics were the primary reason I chose the g skill set (also I have used G skill for years with zero issues), white RAM is a pain in the ass to find haha. As for the voltage settings, at stock settings will it still set it to be an issue or is this only in regards to OCing aggressively?

Awesome! Thanks for the reply man. I planned on getting http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813132566 as the mobo and the gskill linked above which are both XMP ready. Thoughts?
