  1. Hey all, I recently signed up here to ask for some advice on replacing a PSU, the advice was solid but more than that the resources on this forum are second to none. While I always make sure to properly research anything I buy, the information available here streamlines that process immensely. Funnily enough, I had intended to get a more budget orientated PSU due to a restricted budget. I've ended up with a BitFenix Formula Gold 650w thanks to a family member pitching in as part of an early Christmas present, I chose said unit in large due to the tier list pointing me toward it coupled with a few detailed breakdowns/reviews I looked up and the fact it only cost me £60. I honestly never would have thought to look at BitFenix for a power supply were it not for information gathering like you can find here. Anyway, thanks again guys and keep up the good work.
  2. Final bump! Alright guys, I'll be buying a be Quiet! System Power 9 600w for £45 later today. I just figured I'd check in here one final time to see if anyone else felt like putting their two cents in? Anything I'm missing or should consider over the System Power 9 for that price? If not thanks for all the help guys, I'll feel a lot more comfortable with the new PSU in my machine. Edit: I could also get a Cooler Master MasterWatt 550W for a little bit more, seems to be in the same place on the tier list.
  3. You can get a 7950/7970 for under £50 if you shop around. That said, you can also get second hand RX570's for around £70-80.
  4. My results were very similar to your own funnily enough, although I don't think I ever quite broke into the 90's. It didn't take long for me to set up a custom fan curve, I also undervolted the card a little. I'm now idling in the 30's and when gaming I hit 60-70c max, if the card wasn't in warranty I'd tear it down and replace the HSF tbh.
  5. The XFX 450 Pro is a PSU I salvaged from a heavily used and abused build I made for my brother back in 2013-2014 or so, I'm not entirely comfortable using it due to its age. I'll probably end up picking up the System Power 9 600w, it costs exactly the same as the 500w in the UK so I might as well take the extra headroom. I'd prefer a slightly better warranty, but I suppose you can't have it all.
  6. I have the Red Dragon 580 and it's one of the loudest cards I've ever owned, luckily I wear headphones when gaming most of the time so it's not the worst thing in the world for me. I'm not sure if the two use the same cooling, I sincerely hope not for your sake.
  7. I've been leaning towards getting a 3600 and a 5700XT graphics card. It's good to know the System Power is recommended, I was a little unsure of it as I really couldn't find any information. Considering I'd end up paying more or less the same for the B700H or the System Power 9 600 as the System Power 9 500w, would you recommend I just go for the higher wattage or is there no need? PCPartpicker UK is a little limited as it doesn't show a number of UK stores, but I can get both of the aforementioned PSU's for £50-51 with free shipping. Leaning toward the be Quiet! stuff now though thanks to your input. Thanks for taking the time to help.
  8. I've plans to move to a Ryzen platform with a higher end GPU next year (around March), and was hoping to be able to carry the PSU over if possible. That said my finances will be in better order by then so buying a new PSU alongside the other stuff isn't out of the question really. Will the RX580 really be fine with a 400W PSU?
  9. Hey guys, I've been looking into replacing my PSU as a matter of necessity, my old one died a couple of month back and I had to use a spare XFX Pro 450W to get things up and running. While it's doing the job so far I don't feel comfortable running it for much longer, so now I've a little cash to spare I figured I'd look into replacing it. Hold in mind my budget is extremely tight at the moment, the old PSU died when I'd just forked out to redecorate, and I've since had to fork out for a new cooker unexpectedly, so my finances are lower leading up to the Christmas period than they normally would be. I have £50-55 to spend (I'm in the UK) but I'd really rather not go over that if I can get away with it. My system is as follows: I5 3570K 16GB of RAM AMD RX 580 8GB 1 SSD + 1 HDD 2*120mm fans and 2*140mm I've been looking at the following supply for £50 but the information I can find on it is pretty limited par a Russian (I think it's Russian) review that speaks well of it: https://www.gigabyte.com/Power-Supply/B700H#kf Review: https://ru.gecid.com/power/gigabyte_gp-b700h/ I've also been looking at this for the same price, but have struggled to find information regarding it: https://www.bequiet.com/en/powersupply/1693 I'm leaning toward the Gigabyte B700H as it offers a five year warranty, and having dealt with Gigabyte in the past found their UK customer service to be spot on. Anyone able to offer some better options in the price range, or have any experience they'd be willing to share on the models I've listed? Thanks in advance!
