  1. I am trying a new hard drive this time to install windows on. I think I have gotten a subtle hint as to my larger problem. What BIOS setting enables this? Clearly its been disabled by accident for some reason. EDIT: Changed a random setting back to IDE and it seems to have worked.
  2. Hi Guys, I purchased a secondhand PC that was running linux mint. I decided to install windows 10 on it as I intend to use it as a crypto mining rig. So far I have been unsuccessful in trying to boot into a usb or into a hard drive (after removing mint). I then decided to connect the hard drive to my other PC, install windows on it... and then move it back to the PC I just bought. Now I get stuck on this weird screen that freezes after "verifying dmi pool data". Really weird. I have tried everything including reseating RAM/GPU and sata connections, as well as clearing CMOS. Still nothing.... Please see picture attached. I can enter the bios but none of the changes I make seem to help. EDIT: I think for some reason the bios is recognising my hard drive as an IDE one? It is connected with SATA though? IDE is before my time and I'm really stuck on this one. It is in the Channel 4 slave option.... Any ideas?
  3. Might take an extra 15 minutes or so. I wouldn't exactly call it "the long way", its more like... "the complete way".
  4. Backup his files and then do a clean install on a formatted drive.
  5. Thanks everyone for replying. I think I wont worry about upgrading the rest of my PC yet and will just stick to the GTX 1080 upgrade.
  6. So like many others right now I am considering upgrading my aging GTX 680 for a sleek new GTX 1080. However I am pondering whether it is worth upgrading everything (CPU RAM and Mobo) or just buying a GTX 1080 and be done with it. So I guess I am just asking whether or not my i7 3770k will keep up with my relatively slow G skill ram?
  7. I installed hotspot shield and now my internet isnt working. I am trying to use Ethernet but I am having driver errors. I reinstalled Ethernet drivers from the MSi website and had no success.
  8. If you are used to 16:9 use 16:9. Don't switch because that is what pros use. They are just used to it.
  9. Yes, it hasnt been used in ages though and doesnt have any machines available
  10. Screenshot here What is going on? Surely my router cant handle all of these.
  11. I've heard the joke on reddit but seriously. After upgrading to windows 10 I have decided to stop using norton, however the popups and annoying things are insane. How the hell do I uninstall Norton? There has to be a way.
  12. If they are legitimate copies then contact microsoft and they can give you an .iso,,, As for your files they are gone. Formatting a drive is pretty much changing every binary digit to 0 as far as I am aware.
  13. If everyone in the chat is banned then you dont have a chat. Like it or not the kappa face is just part of the twitch experience. Doesn't deserve a ban.
  14. Anyone watching the WAN show right now is most likely also aware of the new bot Linus has. However one of the ban words is a kappa face. Even if used only once in a sentence. This is kind of ridiculous in my opinion and I hope it is fixed. People are being autobanned every few seconds.
