  1. I’m sorry for any confusion. I literally mean that I have about 10-15 kw at any given time. It’s pretty constant. I get confused between kw/h and kw. I know one means capacity and one means how much energy you can take at once. I mean the latter one
  2. Thanks a lot. This really helped. But I also have to be able to buy these servers 8-10 at once. Scavenging eBay is not an option for me because of deadlines. The server I mentioned before are tested and ready to ship. But I’ll do a quick search on what you suggested. Will update once I find new info or get some components. Thanks to everyone!
  3. So if I get it right, having a system with these quad socket cpu accompanied by gpu cards. That would balance everything out? And could I get mining cards theoretically? With cryptomining not being popular anymore I should get them pretty cheap, right?
  4. I would like to use as much of the power I have available as I can. So saving power is not crucial. But keeping the budget at 10k is more important. About the project I want to tribute: I don’t really mind but if they prefer cpu computing I guess good for them
  5. Hi, I'm new to the Server building and I plan to do a massive server build. I basically have 10 KW/h free for a whole year and thought I could do a huge server to donate computing power. My Idea is following have 8-10 Servers equipped with 4x E7-4870s. My Budget is about 10k. Additionally I'm still figuring it out how to connect them so the compute power could be used as one machine or leave them separate as smaller machines and run them on standalone. What do you think about my Idea? Is the CPU choice ok? I would like to reuse old server stuff so I could get a machine for about 900€. (For Example a HP ProLiant DL580 G7) Thank you for any advice you can give me. I'm really determined and would like to make it reality.
