  1. well i got my cpu to 4ghz and i was getting temps as you described but my cpu died and i had to go back to my i5 750 so now i have to buy another xeon :(
  2. well looks like using auto for the voltages works fine because im at 4ghz no problem
  3. i think i know what that is i set my ratio to 20x and then i set my bclk to 200 that would get a 4ghz clock if im not mistaken but that has nothing to do with my question
  4. quick question wouldnt it be quicker and easier to just use auto on the voltage settings because then it would automatically choose the necessary voltages to run my cpu at 4ghz i know its probably a better idea to manually do voltages but i cant seem to get my voltages right my pc keeps blue screening so i was thinking about just using auto on the voltages and if it works like that maybe going in and manually dropping the voltages until i find the lowest voltage it will be stable at im kinda an overclocking noob although i have done it a handful of time i by no means know what im doing also im using a xeon x3470 and i have heard that the xeons are best for overclocking and getting lower voltages because they are the best bin compared to the i7s for lga 1156
  5. im downloading heaven benchmark right now because when i run that it tells me the cpu speed last time i had this problem i ran this benchmark and it was showing a lower speed than cpuz was showing and surely a reputable benchmark such as this wouldnt be showing a wrong clock speed
  6. like i said ive had this problem before it is a real problem even though you might think that it is not the last time i had this problem i ran several benchamarks and they also told me my cpu was running at a lower clock speed than cpuz told me im not getting my information only from task manager that is just what i had readily available at the time considering that i just reinstalled windows and dont have any benchmarks downloaded
  7. so i just overclocked my xeon x3470 to 3.8ghz but it isnt actually at 3.8ghz i had this problem before and went onto some random forum and found a solution but i forgot the name of the forum otherwise i would go there and fix it but cpuz tells me im at 3.8ghz but in the windows system tab where it shows your specs it tells me im at 3.5ghz it baffles me im not really sure whats wrong but i have a feeling its just a simple fix in the bios i remember it was a really simple fix im not really sure what info you guys need so if someone that knows their shit could help that would be great ill provide any screenshots needed just not sure what i need to show
  8. alright well ill give it a shot later thanks for the info man i really appreciate it
  9. man thats really hard to believe everywhere else ive read said that 80c is pushing it but if your right i could probably get to 3.8ghz stable i was just really worried about temps like i said i dont want to fry my new old cpu is there any proof you could give me that would show i could run my cpu in the 90c range?
  10. trust me if i could afford to support the devs but i cant also im using a budget air cooler and i had a static clock of 3.6ghz running stable but when i would run the cpuz stress test the temps would be around 80c max if i go any higher of a clock i might fry my cpu then ill be back to using my i5 750 maybe one of theses days ill get one of those noctua coolers and get to 4ghz clock but not anytime soon and what do you guys think the highest temps i could go on this cpu would be within reason
  11. that wont stop me from going to pirate bay and giving it a shot lol
  12. only problem i have with leaving it stock is its an old ass cpu and i think it would be best to get the most out of it considering im guna be playing RDR2 when it releases on pc next month
  13. wow this forum must be poppin you replied fast thanks for the advice i think ill take the time to overclock again
  14. ok so i have a xeon x3470 (spare me the bullshit i know its old) and i can get it to a stable 3.6ghz overclock but i was curious if it would be better to leave it stock and just let it turbo on its on instead of using a static overclock would it be faster? would it stutter more if i use turbo mode? ive always overclocked and never left a cpu stock just curious about your guys opinions on the matter
