Hi y'all,
I was hoping if you could help me figure out the best way of helping my fiancée upgrade her desktop/gaming rig to get the most of her money. I'm not sure if it would be better to simply upgrade components or just build her a new one (not necessarily using all new parts, but you get my meaning). Her current set-up will be in other details.
Budget (including currency): Absolute max of $US1000, but aiming for under $800
Country: US
Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:
Fallout 4, Sims 4, Just Cause 3, Planet Zoo/Coaster, Zoom, Microsoft office.
Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):
No additional peripherals are needed
She's wanting to improve gaming performance in general, but it was prompted what I think is just a driver issue that I should be able to fix tonight
Current System:
It is an ibuypower prebuilt from ~2014
CPU: AMD FX-6300 6-cores @ 3.5GHz
CPU cooler: A Ziaman(?) fin and fan cooler; I don't really know
Ram: 16 GB DDR3 (2x8GB)(I don't know the speed yet, but will check it and update asap)
Motherboard: MSI 760GMA-P34(fx)(She's already had to replace it once)
Graphics Card: Radeon R7 200 series (probably a 240) 2gb
HDD: Seagate 1TB
Power supply: Soly Tech 400W Non-modular
OS: Windows 10 Home
Things that I know need improving:
More storage
SSD
Graphics Card
My quick well-under budget mockup that needs improving for a new system (MQWUBMTNIFNS for short):
