I have finally got round to upgrading my home server setup, from an old laptop to an actual desktop PC with a Dell Optiplex 790 motherboard. It also uses a Xeon E3-1245, and 8gb ram (all works fine). However, I have had to do some interesting (read: sketchy) work to get the power button to function on the case.
Everything does work as mentioned, but unfortunately I get a lot of errors about front IO cable, power and fans not being detected. This is true however there are actually fans installed - just spliced from a molex connector. Is there any way to disable/work around these message? Many thanks!
