    If you have the option to run another one, do it, but otherwise it's not that big a deal

    check your fan curve in bios, i dont know if you messed with it, also ryzen can be weird with "expecting" load and ramp up fans particularly at idle, or so ive been told

    Perhaps, you don't notice it as much when gaming.

    Possible, yes. I ordered replacement fans for my 7850 back in the day. One of the fans got so bad it struck the cooler assembly or something at 4000 rpm and exploded. 😒 I got new fans from Ebay and they worked good as new.

    I'm pretty sure it's just vibration from one or more fans. Make sure the fan screws are tight. Nothing to worry about but better to fix it sooner than later or it may get worse.

    EDIT: If you cant get the vibration away and it annoys you, can try to get rubber mounts for the fans.

    Task Manager isn't a reliable way to check your GPU usage, it often misreports it, use HWiNFO instead

    My understanding is it’s all about lubricant.  The  thickness of the lubricant matters.  A fan that is started once a day might be in a different situation than one that goes on and off every few minutes.  My info is old.  I was very interested in fans many years ago.  The problem is starting and stopping has problems but so does leaving them running.  It’s a bit variable by individual design but in general start and stop is better than continuous running, especially if the lubricant doesn’t have time to pool.  If it does there are more issues.  HDDs use mercury as a lubricant which has totally different properties and thus totally different behavior.

    @Bombastinator
    How did you arrive at the conclusion that fans wear faster when they keep running?  Is it the same for all fans or only true for particular models?

    Starting up the fan may put stress on the bearings because more torque is involved to get the wheel turning than it takes to.keep it going.  Or it doesn't because the stress on the bearings from holding the wheel in place against the air flow outweighs the stress from starting.  Or maybe both is about the same.  How much stress is from holding the wheel in place would seem to vary from fan to fan because the more air the fan moves, the more stress the bearing must withstand.  So a manufacturer might use stronger bearings for such fans than for others.  Yet when the wheel is heavy and when the motor is strong, the bearing may wear out faster from starting the fan than from keeping it running.

    Linus should make a video about it

    @platysaur

    I wouldn't worry about it.  The fans will wear out eventually one way or the other.  There are questions like if they wear out before or after you are still using the card and what the effects of temperature changes are due to the fans running or not.  I would guess that it's better for the card to operate at a more constant temperature, in which case it may be better to have the fans turn off, but that's only a guess.  Since a constant low temperature is probably best, you shouldn't use your card to play games or anything else that increases its temperature or makes it fluctuate because it may make the card wear out sooner ...

    Ignore Reddit, they are the flames that kill the industry. They took the info, only half of it and lit a torch under anyone's ass who had your type of orientation instead of the other type with the tubes down. Hell, they even went after Jayztwocents, Paulshardware etc... so even other tech tubers weren't immune from the vitriol those people spewed.

    Here is the video that kind of made this concern more common recently. I recommend watching the entire thing.

    Its been a while since I watched it, but if I remember correctly Steve was saying that orientating it like that can add noise and slightly decrease the coolers life span. It really is as simple as unscrewing it, flipping it, and rescrewing it. But it doesn’t look like it is long enough to be flipped anyways so you should be fine.

    The pump is fine, people are suddenly losing their shit over radiator mounting direction thanks to GN's video. In your case, its actually fine as there is a portion of the radiator that is above the pump, and so air will accumulate there instead of getting into the pump. Ideally if you rotated the radiator 180 so that the tubes are on the bottom, then it would be even harder for the air to get out of the radiator and into the pump. That's what people are screaming about these days, but fail to recognize that if a portion of the radiator is above the pump, then its actually okay either way, pumps in AIOs are not strong enough to cause an issue.

    Anything in a can is compressed gas of some kind, not “air”. They’re all safe to use but it would be way cheaper to buy a cheap/small air compressor instead of buying duster over and over.

    some GPU only spin 1 fan when the load isnt high but temp are rising
    and turn off when temps dropped.
    you'll see this behaviour when the GPU is loaded, but not loaded too hard

    it's not bad, it's normal
    as long as the actual temps arent too high, you're fine

    platysaur reacted to Dravinian in H100i AIO Fan Speeds different from one another?
    It is within the tolerance of most fan manufacturers, that there is a 10% +/- variance potential between any two fans that they make.

    So looks like you are well within that variance.

    In answer to the question "is it common".

    Yes, it is I think expected and more likely the norm than not.
