  1. Hello, I haven't looked into the projector market in quite some time and was hoping you guys could help me. We recently (today) had one of our projectors (PT-VW430U) stop powering up. I was wondering if anyone could help me find some good replacement options. Our biggest needs are that it is 1080p (16:9), same throw ratio distance from screen, at least 4500 lumens (hopefully more), HDMI in, and ideally the ability to control power via HTTP. We're on a pretty tight budget, so different options under $2k (absolute max) would be ideal.
  2. Hello lovely people of the internet, I've recently taken over the tech infrastructure of a church, and I'm looking for advice about computer backups. Somehow we're currently paying for two backup services! Arq Backup and CrashPlan. There's about 10 computers on a mix of Windows and macOS. I'd like to move to a NAS as I'm pretty against paying for tech subscriptions if possible, and think this could be accomplished pretty easily with a decent NAS. I'm wondering what sort of opensource software exist that can be installed on clients and auto backup files, settings, ect. If a subscription is necessary that's ok too, but I'm looking for software I can set and forget on the clients where they can autoback up to a NAS. I do not have NAS built or specked yet, but I'd like to maintain around a year of backups so I'm imagining 10tb would be a pretty good starting amount. Please ask me any questions for more information.
  3. Just wondering what solution you went with and how it worked out.
  4. Budget (including currency): ~$300 (for upgrade) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Existing part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Z7tHk9 One of my friends is going to buy my 5800x off me for $200 and I'm wondering what the best upgrade for me would be. The 5800x3d and 5900x are very close in price (~$300) and I don't know what to choose. I do a fair amount of video editing, so I know that leans more CPU heavy. What should be my process for picking between these two chips? (is the 5950x ever worth it?)
  5. I just need the AP to extend my network. I was under the impression the only way to manage the AP is through a switch. Does an access point have its own settings page?
  6. Hello, I'm looking to extend my current network range by adding an Access Point (WAX615PA). To do this I need to get a managed network switch and I'm wondering what layer switch I need. I have an Xfinity Modem/Router Combo right now (XB7), and a Nighthawk in Access Point mode (RAX80). I guess I'm just wondering if someone can explain what the different layers mean and which type of managed switch is necessary for this setup.
  7. I built my PC roughly a year ago, and I've noticed issues since I upgraded to a 4k display. Whenever I use my GPU, (specifically for decoding I think?) I hear a popping sound. This is not due to the headset and I'm plugged directly into mobo audio. Furthermore, if I have Gsync enabled my display occasionally disconnects for about a second before reconnecting. However, I've noticed my second display doing this too, but without Gsync enabled. This is not related to cables as I'm on my 3rd DP cable at this point, and it's DP 2.0 monoprice. Are these symptoms of a dying GPU? Completely unrelated? I really need help and I'm out of ideas. (Also tried one completely clean driver install which changed nothing.) Also parsec + sonobus seem to be the apps where I noticed the popping the most, I also have noticed if I drop my bit rate to my headphones the popping goes away. 8. Hello, I recently bought a 28" Odyssey G70A and I really love it, but I have this issue where randomly my monitor will black screen like it lost input, then suddenly come back to life, with the input displaying in the top right. My second monitor LG-29WN600 is completely unaffected when this happens. The only trend I've seen is that it happens more in games, so my guess was it was a gsync issue, but it happened on my desktop too when gsync was only enabled for fullscreen applications. I'm currently testing by leaving gsync off, and I'll update this post with more info about that test. However, a major reason I got this was because of it's gsync compatibility, and I would really like to use it. I've also tried replacing the cables with one's linus tested. Current cables: DP for the problematic monitor, HDMI for the second monitor. I've looked online and there's really not that many solutions I've seen, so I'd love suggestions. Thank you guys so much. 9. Ok, do you think having both 8 pins in that port was the cause? Or just a faulty psu?
  10. Operating System: Windows 11 Entire spec list:https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Juniorjames316/saved/#view=4KPXkL GPU: 3080 FE PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 750W https://www.newegg.com/thermaltake-toughpower-grand-rgb-gold-ps-tpg-0750fpcgus-r-750w/p/N82E16817153309?Item=N82E16817153309 I noticed, when I was gaming on my pc, a burning smell so i cranked up the fans, noticed it got worse and I unplugged my pc. I then took it apart and noticed the PCI-E port on the power supply was completely burnt, I had to pry it apart and the pictures below show the damage. Both 8 pin connectors for the gpu were connected through that. Is that the issue? Also I should just RMA this psu, there is no way I can keep using it correct?
  11. So I've been helping my friend with his laptop to see if we can improve performance. The primary games we're looking at are destiny 2 and minecraft modded. At first he was using his cpu as his primary graphics driver, so we changed that in nvidia control panel, and that improved performance drastically. Averaging high 50s in both games. However, the next day after some minor settings tweaks that we have now undone, performance for destiny is around 15fps, and minecraft with optifine is low 40s. Thermals are around 60 even in game, and low utilization from both the cpu and gpu, (around 30-50%). Any ideas? 12. I had the same problem, I just had to bite the bullet and start learning premiere pro. Honestly, its so much more complicated but the learning curve is worth it
  13. This worked perfectly! One of the routers had AP mode so it made it easy. I had everything setup right before except I was plugging into the WAN instead of the LAN. Thanks for all the help everyone
