  1. More updates, I have tried out a different power supply and swapped out the cmos battery and still cannot get the computer to turn on.
  2. So, Not the power button because it doesn't turn on when shorting the motherboard. Probably not the psu because the mobo has power (rgb strip on side of mobo is rainbow). when unplugging and plugging in the 24 pin connector, nothing happens.
  3. I don't have another PSU and the person I built it for lives almost an hour away and doesn't know anything about computers
  4. Parts list of the build btw Ryzen 5 1600 Asus x470 tuf-gaming plus msi rx 580 2 8GB t force ddr4 ram 120 GB WD green ssd and seagate 2 TB HHD 600 Watt 80 Plus Certified PSU InWin 101 Case Enermax TB RGB fans with 24 mm enermax aio
  5. That's what I am worried about. I had made several upgrades over the past year and never had a problem with any of those parts. When I took them out of my build I put them in the boxes of the new components and kept them safe there. When I was building the PC, after getting everything plugged in, I had the same issue, where the mobo is getting power but the button does nothing, I couldn't even short the power pins. If the 24 pin connector was unplugged and plugged back in, the PC would start. But it wasn't until I unplugged the psu from the wall and held down the power button on the case for about 5 seconds that I could get the PC to turn on with the case button.
  6. I just built a new computer, some used parts some new parts but they were all used by me and I know they are in good working condition. All of the parts are compatable as I basically built my original pc again for a friend. When building I could not get the computer to turn on. I had to unplug the psu from the wall and press the power button on the case then after I plugged it back in, it turned on and I installed windows. It worked every time after that for me, but my friend is telling me that now, it randomly wont turn on. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. What can cause this? How do I fix the computer?
  7. So I recently purchased the Ryzen 5 3600 cpu in conjunction with a gpu upgrade to avoid bottlenecking. However, when installing the new CPU, my system will not post. I have the Asus tuf x470-plus gaming motherboard which works fine with my ryzen 5 1600 cpu. I updated the BIOS from 4017 to 5216 as suggested on the ASUS website before installing my chip, and then again to 5220 when it did not post again. I contacted ASUS and they advised me to update the CMOS. I did and this still did not work. Then I was advised by the engineering team to replace the cpu, which I did and when the new cpu arrived I installed it and it still does not work. When I turn on the power all my fans com on, the native rgb on the board comes on, as well as the rgb on my ram, but my keyboard and mouse do not turn on and my monitors do not recognize a signal. Please help. Do I just need to get a 2700x? or is there something else I can check?
  8. Yes. twice. After contacting Asus, their engineering department advised me that they believed the cpu to be defective. So I am returning the cpu and going to get a new one and hopefully this will resolve the issue.
  9. Sorry should have mentioned I did upgrade to the R5 3600 except now my system will not post. I get no signal to my monitors or my peripherals and my ram never makes it out of its "rainbow mode". so getting the system to post with that chip is the next step.
  10. I reset the CMOS as advised by ASUS customer support and that did not fix the issue
  11. Update, I returned the card hoping to get a 2070 super but well see with newegg's replacement only policy. if the card is out of stock that should work. otherwise ill be sticking with it. also upgraded to a ryzen 5 3600 cpu. however, when I installed, I could not get any signal to monitor so I have to reset the cmos. hopefully that will fix the issue if not i have no clue what im going to do.
  12. I am perfectly willing to accept that I am cpu bottlenecked. I still have questions about the stability of the card itself. I have two monitors and occasionally, the screen will apear 1/2 way between the two, and i still struggle with the fact that amd freesync is not available on aco. is this a driver issue? because this feature worked with my 580. and if this is a driver issue, would I be better served by just returning the card to get a similar gtx card? or should that support come out soon? to fix this issue, I have tried overclocking (hit stable at 3.8 ghz), i updated the motherboard bios to the most recent version (asus tuf-x470 gaming plus) i uninstalled the drivers, I reinstalled the drivers, i used ddu to uninstall the drivers, i updated the drivers, I booted from a clean boot drive of windows, Ive changed almost ever setting in radeon software, ive tried turning it off and on within the game specifically, ive turned it on and off on the monitor itself. Ive done everything except uninstalling and reinstalling the game. would that even work? thanks for all the help so far, Ill probably upgrade my cpu soon to fix the other problems. would I be better off to upgrade to a ryzen 5 3000 series or a ryzen 7 2000 series?
  13. A new problem has arisen; now I am unable to use freesync on the game Assassins Creed Odyssy. This feature worked on my 580 but now for some reason is disabled. I have tried turning the feature on and off on the monitor, in amd settings, and on and off for the specific game in amd settings as well and nothing seems to work. Any Ideas? also i booted into a clean windows boot drive and am still experiencing the same problems. Did I waste $450 with this upgrade? should i send the card back for a new one? Help!
  14. i did not. i tried just updating the drivers first then, uninstalled and then reinstalled
