Just finished a new build, and have been having issues with it crashing constantly. Specs listed below, along with a list of errors and interventions I have tried.
Ryzen 3700x
MSI x570 Gaming Plus
Gigabyte Radeon 5700XT (Have also tried with my EVGA GTX 970)
G.Skill Trtident 16gb 3600mhz (CAS 18)
EVGA G3 650W
Samsung 970 evo M.2 (500 gb)
Cosair H115i AIO
Corsair Crystal 570x
So here is the story so far. Computer posted just fine, and I installed Windows from a USB stick. Once loaded into windows, I was having issues where the computer would run fine for a bit, but then restart once I put a load on the CPU. Loads included mundane things like downloading chrome, downloading Ryzen Master. However, it also had issues with non-browser tasks, like navigating through the file explorer or (attempting) to run Stardew Valley, as that was the lowest end game I have. During this time, it would mostly freeze, but sometimes restart, and others give a blue screen with clock_watchdog_timeout code.
For interventions, I tried swapping the RAM to different slots, as well as using the sticks one at a time. I swapped the GPU to a different PCIe slot, and also cleared the CMOS memory (when I tried using my 970). I also booted into Safe Mode with Networking. This was a little more stable, but still had issues when loading the CPU. I got Ryzen Master installed, and it showed Core 1 with a load of 200ish mhz, and core 2 kicking in occasionally, with the others all sleeping. Power consumption was within normal limits. I also managed to get updated BIOs downloaded from Safe Mode, and installed those. After I updated BIOs, I haven't had as many plain freezes, but it blue screens instead. During these blue screens, I get the , computer has encountered an error, collecting data, but then it flashes to black screen and restarts before it gives me/I can read a code.
One possible issue I was considering, was power to the CPU. The mobo has an 8+4 pin connector, but I only had cables for/only had slots on the PSU for the 8 pin connector. I was wondering if the CPU could be too power hungry, but I believe an 8 pin can supply about 300W of power to it.
Suffice it to say, my lovely new build is nothing more than a talking piece at the moment, so I could really use your help.
