  1. Ummmmm, I've done back to back sessions of GoW, MHW, and HZD and all that happened was my system running hot with only short breaks between for food and the like.... But what some of the people are saying could be it. If you haven't cleaned out any of the dust from the inside in the 5 years you've owned it, the dust build up could be causing cooling issues. I've cleaned mine a few times since purchase. Excess heat and loud exhaust is pretty common for the PS4 though sadly, they didnt really do a great job at designing it for cooling. Based more off the OP's stuff, you might just have a bad system. Some part on your systems motherboard might have a short or a bad connection. Since most of the issues you are having seems to be centered around when you are actively accessing or using you internal HDD to a large degree. Having to reinstall the OS? Major issues being fixed after deleting DCUO? Fuzzy loading preceding those crashes? Sounds like something on the storage side is messed up and sends errors/ corrupted data and caused the crashes. Im no expert, but based off those problems, it does make seems to be it, but idk
  2. Personally, I would suggest putting more focus onto an at-home system and getting a decent, inexpensive tablet or laptop for presentations. Investing into a powerful desktop will allow you to be able to create animations and do your CAD work at a faster pace and produce them possibly even in a higher quality depending on what you currently do. It would also be a good idea to make sure that whatever tablet/ laptop you get to be powerful enough to do some work on-the-go. And depending on how often you have to take it to go and what kind of presentation environment you use, you could look into making a mini-ATX computer that is powerful enough to do your work, but also portable enough to carry around. Granted presentations could be a little more difficult for set-up, but you would then need just one set up.? Maybe even invest some to also get a cheap, good enough tablet or laptop for other cases when you have to work on the go?
  3. Hello, I am new to the forum so I just wanted to apologize ahead of time in case this isn't organized well or doesn't have all the info you may need... ANYWAY, onto the why I am here; I currently have an old HP Pavilion g6 laptop that I use to take notes in class or to do work when I am away from my home desktop. I purchased it right around 6-7 years ago, between the release of Windows 8 and 8.1 and even still have the Windows 8 sticker on the bottom (see below for proof). Here are the current specs: AMD-A6 4400M APU w/ Radeon HD Graphics 2 DDR3 PC3-12800 800MHz RAM modules 500 GB HDD At the time of release my system wasn't blazingly fast, but as years have passed, she hasnt aged well. The boot time can sometimes take upwards of 5 minutes to go from completely off to log-in screen, and up to 10-15+ minutes to boot fully to windows in certain circumstances. CPU is often pinned at ~70-80% use for the first 10-15 minutes of it being turned on. It can semi-often take 5-10 seconds to register that typing in a window is happening. I can barely run games such as Minecraft at any higher than 25-30fps without turning all video quality options to their worst ones and disabling as many options as possible. My battery life under normal use lasts not much more than 1.5-2 hours before needing to be plugged in. Currently, this is my list of what I want to do to try and rectify some of these issues: Replace the battery (just gonna buy a new one, no complications here) Replace HDD with 500GB or 1TB SSD Upgrade CPU, possibly to best available depending on price Upgrade memory to faster modules if possible Replace speakers I know I could just buy a whole new laptop to get much faster and nicer everything, but I kinda don't want to. The only way I will get a new one is if it'd cost either roughly the same or less to get a new decent system rather than just replace and upgrade whatever parts I can. I will fully admit that I am somewhat of a novice when it comes to the ins and and outs of hardware and compatibility, especially for laptops, so if some of these things are impossible and I just don't know it, please let me know. Any help/tips would be great, like what board(s) I can use with which processor(s) or what websites to use to find parts at the best price (i.e. newegg, amazon, Ali-Expess, etc.). Thank you so much!! EDIT: Thank you guys for all this help in such a short time. To clarify a few things: When I said work, I mean general kinds of school/ productivity things; Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visual Studio for programming in C Yes, buying a new computer would be the simpler option and could be cheaper buying a newer used computer, but I probably wont be making all of the upgrades, or at least not all at once. My computer is still functional, it'd just make it easier and more enjoyable. Oh and uhhhh, sorry if my photo just seems really random, I just find it funny that its still there Honestly post would be fine w/o it, but its just a neat lil' nug IMO
