Most TVs are VA and they make poor monitors. Some don’t though.  LTT did a roundup review but it’s old.  They tend to be not cheap as a result.  My memory is there is a 45” that is supposed to be OK.

There is a monitor specific forum.  I can’t remember the name, that might have more up-to-date information.  My memory is there was some association with hardware unboxed.

$1000 is double what my 32” cost, so it sounds like a very good deal.

I do remember that price is to a degree set by size because of the way they are manufactured.   I suspect at that size unless you’re willing to spend a whale of a lot of money you’re not going to find a 65” set that works well as a monitor.

About 20 years ago I created several custom live Linux CDs for a project I was working on. This week I looked into how easy that is these days. It is actually so easy that I created a bunch of scripts that make it quite simple. The scripts can be found here: https://gitlab.com/customlivecd/customlivecd
It works on debian based distro's (only tested on Debian 12). Run the prerequisites script, change some config files and run the runme.sh script. You can add any package from the repo's, .debs (for i.e. the Citrix Workspace app) or run commands. A way to include Virtualbox guest additions is included, but you have to download the files first yourself (to avoid license issues with Oracle 😉
Result: a custom .iso you can write to USB or CD/DVD with your files, your own user and passwords.

Maybe there are much better ways or projects to this, but it works for me...

Does the 6500 need auxiliary power cables?  Most do.  There are a few exceptions.  Generally at the low end.  The 6400 and the 1650 don’t need them.  3050 too irrc.  Old dells are the bread and butter of those cards because often Dell PSUs don’t have extra cables.

Maybe.  If it is some engineer at the company should be slapped upside the head though.  More probable is the pump blade fell off the shaft.  The head slapping still needs to occur, but it might not be the engineer that needs it.

10900k implies this is not a new build.  I take it it WAS at some time working fine?  I’m wondering if your pump died or flow got clogged somehow? Is one of your AIO tubes hotter than the other?  This is why I don’t use AIOs.  I suspect you will have to activate your warranty on your cooler.
I do.  It looks like a classic bad mount, but the mount hasn’t changed and you’ve got an AIO.  All it would take is for the water to stop circulating but still be there.  It’s also possible I guess for the water to still be circulating but the radiator isn’t getting any air at all.  That’s less likely though assuming you didn’t drop your sweater on top of your case or you smoke or something.  Smoking makes dust gummy.  The worst examples of clogged fans seem to be from smokers.

Ya see that's the one part we can't really account for - apparently the new "Fad" is releasing games as soon as they run whatsoever, no matter how garbage the performance really is.

However, luckily those games are are being figured out. Patches have already significantly lowered VRAM usage and uplifted performance.

So in the future - when your hardware is getting old, I guess we will simply have to learn to accept shitty performance until patches roll out.

That, or this stupid trend can stop. But I doubt that will ever happen because game development takes so long and is so complicated now that game devs feel REQUIRED to push out a game early in order to start making a return on their investment. And you can't really blame them either. 8-10 years is a LONG time and a SERIOUSLY risky investment in something you have made no money on yet.

Im sure game studio accountants literally experience stress-induced hair-loss at the thought of a new game project every single time at this point.

I would say VRM heat sinks are probably ok if they’re cast or milled. Paint will insulate but it won’t insulate a lot, and those things are more than half decorative anyway.

You don't need high heat engine enamel paints, at worst the surfaces that doesn't contribute to cooling would be at around 45-55 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile basic plastidip is rated at 93c. You wanna concern yourself more with surface preparation and even application than the heat.
While this is for car parts, almost all of the advice here applies. All i could say beside that is to make sure you do not and i mean DO NOT paint anything that contributes to cooling like radiator fins, heatsink arrays, and fans. For the latter you could do it but youll need to rebalance it and even after that the fan wont be the same due to the added weight of the paint.

It could but probably won’t.  If there is a curl fo example that makes only that point connect there will be a problem. I don’t see one though.  It’s a shallow scratch on the edge of where the silicon is.  This is why “mount it and see if it even matters” is step one.

As far as the pinkness goes I have a single suggestion: spray paint.  It might be possible to get pink colored gear, but the selection is going to be so reduced and the price so high you might as well do it yourself.  Take the stuff apart, and paint the parts you want to be pink.  DO NOT paint any pcbs or fin stacks with the possible exception of milled or cast VRM coolers.   Leave them the color they came.  Use a Sandable primer, then sand, then do color.  You’ll want as clean a place to do it as possible and spray paint floats on the air so stuff around you will be pink too if you don’t take steps.

You'd know its off by crazy high temps, like way more than you would expect.  If its off by a handful its probably fine, but if you are idle at like 70C then yeah something may be wrong.

To be fair it may also just be wrong because the chip is bad and the scratch had nothing to do with it.  But yeah test and test and you'll be able to tell

The thing you want to look at is the recommended wattage for the gpu more than the cpu.  That might mean 600w. For $50 and 600w c and d tier is probably the best you can hope for.  The new GPUs tend to be power hungry, so a “headroom” PSU would be 750w and atx 4.1.  I’m not sure you can get out of trash tier for $50 with a 750w PSU.  I’m not even sure you can get out of trash tier at 650w   I know it can be done at 500w, but more power is needed than that.

That was sort of @bezza... really s/he was the one that mentioned rt first. Mine was the monitor thing.  With rt I was thinking more specifically about the coding of the game.  It might just not have very good rt coding. Each of these is putting less and less stress on your gpu.  Each time it’s better and better but still not solved.    I wonder if you’ve got a cooling impingement regarding the gpu.  Are any of the fan holes partially blocked by another card?

The 5700 is real tempting.  It’s more or less a 3060 with more memory. A bit older.  Could be thought of as a slower 6600 with more memory.  It’s more or less the same thing as is in the XboxX/ps5.  Literally.  Same chip.  They’re both “1080” class cards.  The 6700 is more 3060ti. All of the “1080” class cards might be looked at.  That may be the only one besides the 3060 12 gb that has more than 8gb of memory though.

Brand new AMD cards do indeed tend to have problems.  This is 6 series though and amd is doing 7 series now, so not so new.  There does tend to be less irritation with Nvidia, but at the low end their hardware is weak.  If the 6 series’s was just coming out I’d be a lot more ambivalent.  Right now the choice seems to be a 3060 12gb or a 6700.  The 6700 crushes the 3060 though so if the price is even close there’s no contest.
