  1. Yeah, i should have not said that, edited. But I don't like this mentality, Linux is great for some workflows, and people who say that it's only for "time-wasters" is another way to tell them that their hobby sucks or that they are poor...
  2. I've always thought Linux is genuinely useful for many workflows, and just like the other operating systems, if you just want to surf the web it's the bootloader for your browser. Sometimes I see stupid people (particularly Apple fanboys) who think Linux is only for nerds and you're basically poor if you use it. I don't know but I can't stand this elitist point of view. Anyone can use whatever browser they would like to use. I've also seen this mentality among people who install custom ROMs on their phones. I feel like the tech community really needs to police itself to not let such toxic mentalities show up online.
  3. So they have an extra feature to sell to you, in order to get you to buy their phone instead. (Reverse wireless charging is awesome though.)
  4. - heavy polycarbonate is an awesome material for phones - more manufacturers should explore other materials for phones such as ceramics and rubber - Removable batteries should be an option on both laptops and phones - microSD and USB-C should be standards on every phone - every single laptop should have upgradable RAM and SSD - the thin and light trend laptops are going these days is worrying in my opinion - Europe should extend its warranty to 3 years and USA to 2 or 3 - Apple isn't in top 5 phone manufacturers since 2018 or so - Linux is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE for any user that does more than Youtube and facebook on their laptop
  5. 2.4 kg isn't heavy though. I agree from 3kg onwards it can be a little tough, but in my opinion a laptop between 2 and 3kg (maybe 3.5kg with the charger) is perfectly fine. If you ask me it depends on how much you travel with the laptop. Unless you do it A LOT (like daily) there's not much reason to get an ultrabook in my opinion, as a regular 13'+ inch laptop will do just fine provided it has at least some sort of GPU, even base Vega graphics. Why would you need an extra keyboard for your laptop, by the way? But a "top 10 laptop" list doesn't have to be swarming with ultrabooks with one or maybe two gaming laptops thrown in the mix. ThinkPad P53 is surely far better than any ultrabook in performance, durability, keyboard and screen options. Also, I really like the $200 PineBook Pro - very cheap, good screen, okay specs for its price, huge battery life from what I've seen of it. I'm waiting for it to get released and receive more tests. Maybe Linus will feature it on his channel
  6. In my opinion there is almost no reason to buy a MacBook Air over a $200 PineBook Pro that will be landing next month, unless you have specific needs for MacOS. The MacBooks are pretty much garbage these days, but if you have to have one, I would be looking at a MacBook Pro. I had a Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 500 that was an ultrabook and went to shit in two years. For these reasons, I don't trust ultrabooks anymore, particularly those made of cheap plastic or metal. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme is imo the best choice right now if you need one.
  7. To be honest, if you're travelling a lot, I can see why you can prioritize an ultrabook. But personally I don't really carry my laptop around my campus because I live in a country where we still tend to use pen and paper lol.
  8. Why do laptops these days HAVE to be thin and light? They can't pack too much power in a thin chassis without thermal throttling, and it's annoying especially if you pay over $1200 on them. What if you're doing CAD work, play games, edit videos or you just want a retro-style laptop that will last for a long time, have all the ports you need, upgradability options and an excellent keyboard? That is the Lenovo ThinkPad P53... but I don't really see reviews of it anywhere I've looked. I think the sweet spot for a laptop is between 2 and 3 kg. What do you guys think?
