  1. Hey SSDs are pretty cheap now. I wanna put one or two 120gb SSDs (probably not M.2 via adapter, just 2.5") into an old PC that only had HDDs. I haven't found anyone answering this particular question: Is it worth it to get one SSD for Windows 10 and a separate one for its page file? (Or do I just put both on one SSD, and if so, will it matter if it's in the same partition?) (The PC is an i5 with 4gb RAM) Thanks kindly
  2. Thanks. I decided to try upgrading the storage first, it only has two HDDs. I'm gonna get a 120gb SSD to put the OS onto, but I wonder, is it worth it to get another 120gb SSD just to put the page file on, or can I put it on the same one as the OS, in a different partition? Maybe you know? ? (they're not expensive but I might not have room)
  3. Hey I have an old i5 work PC that I still use for Solidworks and video editing. Please see the specs in the attached pics. I recently put win10 on it hoping to improve performance, but it's very sluggish, even with some Windows tasks, not just Cura, Solidworks etc. I decided to try some mild overclocking, nothing fancy. I checked that there's no new BIOS driver (since 2010 or so) and then, following one online source about the same i5 model, I changed three settings in the BIOS: - BCLK from 133 to 200 - Clock ration from x21 to x19 - Memory performance enhance from Standard to Turbo (probably not related to the problem?) I saved and reboot, and nothing would load, no BIOS, nothing on the screen, and the power LED is just blinking forever. I took out the motherboard battery, cleaned it off while at it, and put it back. The BIOS seems to have reset. I noticed some things. - First, a GYGABITE splash screen now appears on screen first thing. I never saw it since I bought this computer, I guess it was disabled on purpose. The BIOS version is unchanged, the memory setting I changed is still on Turbo, the CPU changes I made were reverted. Windows boots ok, but now I'm very afraid to touch any settings again. - There's a message after the BIOS that asks if I want to change SATA from IDE to AHCI mode. I'm assuming yes? Any advice? What did I do wrong? I forgot to up the core voltage, I think it was on Auto, around 1.3 v, after the made my changes. But shouldn't it still boot and then become unstable? Did I have to set the RAM speed to 200 along with the BCLK? Thanks for any help
