  2. yep went through the list, the only HDMI outputs I was getting was for my monitor i.e. would only output if I connected aux from monitor to the soundbar (as the monitor doesn't have built in speakers)
  3. Just tried that and I'm getting nothing, no detection of it on the PC, nothing at all
  4. I bought a Soundbar (Sharp HT-SB107) and I didn't really consider things properly. The soundbar has connections for AUX, HDMI Arc and Optical. Currently I have it set up using AUX directly to my motherboard (ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero). I have 2 Dell S2719DGF monitors but neither support HDMI Out/HDMI Arc. I wanted to know if there's a work around for this so I could put the soundbar in/out of standby depending on whether the monitor is in sleep? I also have 2x HDMI ports and 2x Display ports on my Sapphire Vega 64 Nitro+, currently using the 2 HDMI for my monitors. Would any of them be of any use? So my devices available are: Soundbar: Sharp HT-SB107 Monitors: Dell S2719DGF Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi Graphics: Sapphire Vega 64 Nitro+

  6. Well the 5m is because I want to do my room lighting but I thought I'd put some strips into my pc too while I'm at it
  7. That is possible as i did cut it from the starting section and solder the wires as the first few lights weren't switching on originally. I've had to order a new soldering kit so will probably experiment more once that arrives
  8. Got a new set of LED strip that arrived. 150 in total and 5m length. Also received an adapter connector jack to connect the wires directly to mains. Got it setup with motherboard, set the number of lights to 120 for both strips and it worked. So I'm guessing it's to do with the strip itself not working

  10. I'm looking at turning an old PC in to a server. (I can't use my main PC for this as it can't and isn't kept switched on at all times currently) There are two things I want it to do: Run Home Assistant (for Home Automation) Have a drive/s for file storage over ftp. Since it's an old PC, I'm not sure if Windows and running virtual machines on there would be ideal? PC Specs: Motherboard: ASUS P5KPL-AM CPU: Intel® Pentium® Processor E5200 RAM: 4GB DDR2-800 240GB SSD (Main drive) + 500GB HDD I'll have two drives to start with. I'd like to allocate the first drive for the OS and possibly for Home Assistant and use all additional drives for file storage. I'm a Windows user so I'm not entirely sure what I can do. What would be the ideal solution for this?

If you mean switching to other end of the strip then no, because the connector from the motherboard cable and LED strip would be the same I can't see any settings that would let me deactivate strip 2 on any of the 2 software for some reason. If I click enable, it automatically adds two strips Referring to a driver on the board or LED Strip? Yeah I've been searching for the past week and couldn't find any relevant questions or solutions that would work with me unfortunately
  12. Got exactly 96 LED's on a single strip First LED on: Connection to extension cable: Armoury Crate and ASUS Aura settings asking number of LED's in two strips (While I only have one): I hope that makes more sense..
  13. Check what on the pin? I've got a single strip and set the number to 96. It does ask for Number of LED's on ADD-Strip2 and not sure what to set that to
  14. So I picked up some addressable WS2812B (5V) LED strips off AliExpress and tried to connect it to the 3 pin header on my motherboard. As per the manual, the 3 pin port supports 5V addressable RGB LED strips. I cut the strips down to about 100 LEDs. I've connected strips to my motherboard with the extension wire that comes with the motherboard. Now only the first light turns on green. When using Aura sync, there are no light changes at all. Just wondering, do I need a separate controller or am I doing something wrong? Motherboard header: Connectors:

On my build, I've got the following kit available: 1. 1TB SanDisk Extreme Pro m.2 NVMe 3D SSD 2. 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD 3. 1TB HDD (I don't know which one but it's one I swapped out of my laptop for an SSD) Now I want to know what would be the ideal setup. The main reason I've gone for a strong build is to be able to game but I'll obviously be doing work on it as well. Gaming is what it'll be used for more than any image editing etc. I was thinking of using 1 for my windows installation and commonly used applications. As for drive 2 I was thinking of putting games I play often on there while using the 3rd as general storage from music, to media etc. 1) Is that a suitable setup or should I consider an alternative? 2) I know storage prices have been dropping even for SSDs, and HDD's are dirt cheap. I was thinking of probably upgrading one of either 2 or 3. What should I primarily look at upgrading?
  16. Looking at this list and it says the CMW16GX4M2C3200C16 isn't AMD optimised. Will that be an issue? Considering there's a few posts online about Corsair rams causing blue screens on Ryzen 9 builds
  17. Honestly speaking, I was looking to get by with 16gb for now but the ram priced dropped so I was tempted to go for more ? Just hoping I can purchase a good CPU and Motherboard kit on Black Friday. Otherwise 9900k has been hitting the £400 mark a few times over the past couple of months but have been wavering towards the 3900x
  18. The ram dropped in price so why not throw some extra in? ? Was planning on using my computer for load of stuff tbh. Would be doing some gaming as well as my work. I work as a software dev so would mainly work around that but the occasional graphics work etc. Tbh I just want to build a strong machine and hopefully not have to worry about upgrading for a while
  19. I've got everything on that list already. BTW those prices are pretty much exaggerated, it's not really what I've paid. For example the vega 64 I picked up for < £340. The only thing I 'overpaid' on was the ram where I paid £105 for 16gb. I'm wondering whether upgrading that to 32GB is worth doing with a potential Ryzen 9 set up

  21. Just wondering whether anyone has any experience or suggestions regarding using Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 3200 MHZ in a build with 3900x. I've already got a pair of ram sticks and was planning to upgrade to a 32gb set up as well. I've yet to buy a motherboard and CPU and I've seen some suggestions that RAM setup will not go well with Ryzen 9? Any suggestions what motherboard set up I should go for that shouldn't cause issues? I don't mind spending £3-500 I'm still not made up between purchasing 9900k or 3900x and will be waiting till Black Friday.
  22. Anyone know anything of when the 3900x would be back in stock? Also I'm guessing the h115i Platinum liquid cooler should work flawlessly with any cpu whether I go for 3900x or 9900k?
  23. I've seen the 9900k hit pretty much 400 couple months back. Not sure the 3900x would go that low anytime soon?
  24. Looking at the 3900x, I'll probably end up forking out an extra £100. What motherboards would I be looking at in that case? Ideally I don't want to have to upgrade either CPU or motherboard for a long time
